Text to Dr Cuddy
Hello, a few people have told me that I should make an appointment with you. Do you have any availability?

My names Ritchie Tozer, I’m 25, and it’s about AIDS.

Thank you.

Both, I suppose.

I was too scared so I never went back for my test results appointment the first time, so by the time I did, they said it had progressed to AIDS. I know it’s stupid.

It's not stupid to have a fear reaction. Many patients ignore all kinds of medical issues for the same reason.

What we need to focus on is that you're coming for treatment now. I promise to explain everything as best I can to help with any anxiety you feel.

Thanks.

I’m from 1988, and I know just about everything that was known then, but I’ve spoke to Richie here (when he was older) and he’s spoken to Miguel (?) and he wanted me to talk to you, and I think Miguel will want to talk to you too? And I know there’s a lot that we didn’t know when I’m from that you know now.

You know how your illness is affecting you then and that's a good first step to understanding the new information. The good news is medical science has come a long way.

Are you okay with me talking to Miguel?

I think so. I called all the helplines and my friend Jill has been researching it all for years, anything she could get her hands on. I probably should have listened more There's a lot of bad information out there though. It gets hard to pick out what's real and what's rumour. Maybe safer to assume I know nothing and I'll try my very best to actually shut up and listen this time.

Sorry. I talk too much when I'm nervous.

Yeah, it's fine. I think it's fine. I haven't actually met him but if he can help (or thinks he can) then yeah it's okay.
