WHO Everyone
WHAT Post-death, post-trauma, post-excitement party to blow off some steam for everyone on the base
WHEN Forward-dated to Saturday June 16th (night)
WHERE Leisure rooms, etc (if people wander off).
RATING Please mark your threads if they start to veer into mature territory

In the wake of the tragedies at Limbo, the party had seemed extremely trivial – maybe even a little inappropriate. But since everything had already been ordered, and people seemed to need something to cheer them up now more than ever, Amber and Chloe had forged ahead, and spent the entire Saturday decorating, preparing, baking, and arranging. By the time they were done with the leisure rooms, they were decked out with multi-coloured lights and cheeky neon signage, tables overflowing with snacks, baked goods, soda and water bottles, tubs full of ice that were brimming with all kinds of liquor, and speakers blasting decidedly very upbeat music meant to inspire fellow residents to shake off their troubles (if possible) and dance.

C1 (the entertainment room) skewed blue and purple. The gaming consoles were left hooked up, in case anyone wanted to get into some drunk Mario Kart battles in-between all the massive amounts of tasty snacks set up around the room. C2 (the movie theatre) had films set up for the entire night and a table full of beer and coolers prepared inside -- people would be able to happily enjoy Animal House, The Hangover, 21 Jump Street, Wedding Crashers, Oldschool and Superbad into the wee hours of the morning. C3 (the old fashioned game room) leaned towards a red motif -- all kinds of low lighting and much gentler music to allow people to talk and enjoy mellower company. And, of course, there remained plenty of floor space in case anyone decided to break out Twister. C4 (activity suite) was transformed into the closest thing to a club they could manage within their means and had the most impressive speaker system, leaving plenty of room for people to dance. C5 (the laser tag room) was decked out for karaoke -- assuring that anyone who wanted to embarrass themselves in public absolutely could, all with the benefit of some beautiful, bright yellow spotlights.

[OOC: this is posted ahead to give you more time to play the event out before it passes in real time. Everyone who lives, works, etc. at the facility would be able to stop into this thing at any point. Have fun!]

Abby took the soda with a smile, happy she wasn't in the wind direction of the smoke. "No..." She shook her head with a sigh. "Dr. Anderson wants me to not stay in my room so much. She said she wanted me to try to go to the party." But she'd said multiple times that if she didn't stay long, or if she didn't actually make it through the doors, that was okay so long as she tried. But to Abby, she read that as she had to go to the party or she'd disappoint Dr. Anderson and she was so used to what the doctors in the hospital did when she didn't make the progress they expected that she worried the same would happen here- even though deep down she knew it wouldn't.

She coughed slightly as the wind shifted and she caught some of the smoke. Her mother used to smoke...

Grey just nodded her head slowly, watch Abby cough a little from the smoke, she lowered her hand to keep the cigarette away from Abby's face.

"Dr Russel thinks it is good that I am making friends with people. I like it too." Talking was a little easier, she was still quiet, but that rarely seemed to stop people talking to her. Which she supposed was how many people were -they liked to talk about themselves. Grey didn't mind. People were a little fascinating at times.

"At least you made it to the door, that is good progress. If you wanted to go in, I would come with you. No one is saying you need to go alone that way." Grey wouldn't mind, she could avoid bumping people, find Kathryn to see if she was angry at anyone and wanted to talk about it at length, see what these 'party games' were. But she wouldn't be upset if she didn't go in either.

She was still finding it hard to leave her room, Jason had been making her when they hung out. But she didn't ask him to visit a ton because she knew he had other friends too. "I don't know about going in." She worried that everyone would look at her and wonder why shew as there. Then again she also worried that no one would notice her at all and no one would care that she was there. They were conflicting feelings but that was sort of the norm for her. Just a ball of conflict. "I mean, what if," She gets in someone's way? "It's not really fun." Though it did sound like people were having fun.

Abby wrinkled her nose a little. Way to make new friends Abs, staying outside and being a stick in the mud. It's no wonder you only have one friend. "But if you want to go in... I'll go with you." That way she didn't look like a complete loser for not wanting to go to a party. After all, who didn't like parties?

What if it wasn't fun?

Grey looked over her shoulder, looking at the building behind them where the party was going strong. "It might not be. But then if it is not, no one needs to stay." Grey knew that what some people thought was fun wasn't the same as other people -Victor liked singing karaoke, Grey really didn't like it that much.

"Maybe later." Grey gave a soft shrug, she wasn't good with crowds. "I like being outside. I like the quiet. It is more peaceful out here anyway. I can think better." Grey liked having some peace and quiet, to just be and to just sit. "What do you like to do? Not party, what do you do?"

Stay in my room. Abby shrugged. "I like movies and comics, tv shows. I want to like video games but I'm not really good. But I like to watch the ones with stories. And I like board games." Had she had more exposure to them she'd probably be good at video games, but she never had the chance to play before Limbo. "Mostly science fiction and fantasy stuff." She knew she probably sounded like a geek or a nerd... which she kinda was. It was a badge she had been happy to wear when she had others into the same things around her.

"How about you? Besides being outside where it's quiet." She asked.

"Victor likes comics, they are sometimes fun." He had weird tattoos, and he talked about the superheroes in comic books sometimes, but Grey hadn't really gotten the appeal. "I enjoy board games too. I cannot play the video games, I am too easily frustrated with controls." She was too logical for their oddities she felt, she tried now and then, for Victor to have someone to play with, but they had been limited in access to things like that and Grey didn't know if she'd been good at them before.

Grey gave a one shouldered shrug, but decided to expand a little, since Abby didn't know that Grey didn't even know what she liked. "I like music, but the soft kind. With instruments instead of computer noises. And reading. My friend likes to colour, but I do no not really think I am creative like that." She liked mysteries.

Or she thought she did. Even though the one she was trying to solve was her own, she felt the work she was doing with Rachel was good, she enjoyed it, even if it didn't lead to answers.

"I like the stories in them... I guess their meaning has changed a bit since finding out I has powers... now it's more like it's something to want to be like... free." Abby said with a shrug. People like Captain America and Spiderman and them were heroes. Yea, they had issues when people didn't like them but there were enough that rallied on their side, and they had a whole community of other heroes that supported them- for the most part. Not that Abby had anywhere to go if Limbo suddenly closed down, and the outside world still kinda of terrified her, but she still liked the idea of the superhero world.

"Music is good." She hadn't honestly gotten into music since leaving the hospital, there was so much more to catch up on, but before it she'd been into classic rock and boy bands. Abby laughed a little when she mentioned not being creative enough to color. "Anyone can color. It's just about filling in spaces with what makes sense." Or what doesn't make sense if you're that type of person.

Abby felt butterflies in her stomach as she spoke again, her words came a little quickly as if they wouldn't get out any other way. "Maybe we could play a board game one time." She had a sinking feeling in her stomach as she said it. This person didn't even know her and here she was forcing herself upon her with a request. Of course she was gonna say no... and if she said yes she was probably saying it because she felt obligated to.

Unlike a lot of people, Grey didn't remember a time when she didn't have powers. She didn't know what life was like before she could do the things she did. Didn't know if she would relate to any of those superheroes finding out their powers. If she were really honest -and she usually was only that honest with her friends from Cheshire, she felt bad when she couldn't relate like that.

"Freedom is complicated." They thought they wanted freedom, but life on the outside of a cage, when all you've known was the cage, is harder than people think.

"What if nothing makes sense? Or the lines are in the wrong place. Colour makes things busy, makes them complicated. The fewer the better. Clara is good at colouring, she sees bigger pictures." Grey had a tendency to colour in with one colour, making the whole page the same, and then no one could tell that she had stayed meticulously within the lines on each page. But it wasn't a problem, she'd rather sit and watch Clara fill pages with vibrant colours and magical pictures anyway.

"Do you like Clue? The mystery one? Someone is dead and you need to learn who, by following clues and asking questions? I like that one. But Victor cheats." Telepaths with short attention spans, Grey never minded, but it did mean she didn't get to play much.

"Yea... it kinda is." Abby nodded. For her, she sought freedom from her fears and insecurities. As it was, Limbo was freedom to her, freedom from medications and security straps and solitary for drawing on the wall. Some saw Limbo as jail, but after being freed from her jail of sorts, she was quite content to stay in Limbo forever. The world outside is what was scary. She knew... she drew the worst of it.

"Sometimes it doesn't, but life doesn't... right? And it's not how others see it, you should color for you. What you think is right. You don't always need a lot of color to make something good." She knew first hand as most her drawings were in pencil. She had colored pencils and crayons, but she only ever seemed to use them when they played an important role. Unsurprisingly red was the most common color besides pencil that was used. Granted her drawings were not really in her control and drawing for real was something she was unable to do... but color... she could color.

"I love mysteries." Abby said, maybe it had something to do with the unknown of her drawings. TV, book and game mysteries she could actually solve or find the answer too. "Clue's a lot of fun. Have you seen the movie? It's pretty great."
