Who: Penny and OPEN
What: Training.
When: December 26, 2017 before this
Where: The Hologym
Rating: TBD

Penny hated that her mother still had any sort of sway over her emotions. Olivia had never kept her feelings about the superpowered and how they were dealt with a secret. She truly believed that sending them away was for the best for all involved. Penny knew that. She had always known that. Still there was this part of her that wished, especially during this time of year that she would show her some sort of motherly affection. Instead, she got a letter asking her to be in a PSA about the benefits of the program and how much it would help her mother's up coming campaign.

That letter was what led her spend the day after Christmas tucked away in the Hologym. She couldn't tell her mother no and she couldn't do anything to hurt or shame her. As much as she hated to admit it, she still loved her parents and wanted them to be proud of her.

"Damn it," she muttered as she hit a wall in the gym and ended the training simulation. It was always at that point. That one thing that she could not get passed that was driving her crazy. She rubbed her forehead and debated on starting it over again before deciding it was much more effective to lay out on the cool floor. "Damn shit fuck."

Laziness and boredom seemed to be the common traits of the tattooed Cajun boy. Some even teased that Drifter may as well have been the human incarnate of Garfield the cat. Granted most of that lethargic nature was due in large part to the brutally addictive chemical cocktail that the regiment forced into his veins on a weekly basis...but the drinking and weed didn't help matters either. Where most of other agents actually worked hard to train, Jeremiah was far more content to simply wile away his time lounging about. And even now he had been doing just that; resting high up on the rafters of the hologym, drinking heavily while watching his teammate run herself through the paces.

Oh a bit of training for himself wouldn't have hurt, but when he rarely saw a point with any of it since he was a living weapon in fog form. However while the exercise portion held no appeal Miah found the sight of Penny pushing herself on to be amusing all the same. It was when she stopped though, and started to curse like a sailor, that his laughter echoed out across the vast chamber. "Well ain't dat a surprise. Never thought I'd hear a proper lady like yourself go and using those kinda words, darling." From high up above he flashed her a grin; raising his bottle in a little salute before downing the rest of the contents. Without warning Drifter just leaned back over the rafter and proceeded to fall, his body hurtling towards the ground at an alarming pace.

Yet instead of a corpse splattering there on the floor a billow of fog just appeared. A moment later that dark mist swirled about, taking on the form of a man until Miah was just sitting there beside her...looking unphased by the fall. Before saying a word he paused to fish out a fresh joint; lighting up, inhaling and exhaling deeply before that Southern accent of his was heard once again. "So what's got ya so down, suga?"

Penny felt her heart jump at the sound of someone else's voice in the gym before she laughed. "I often swear," she admitted. "I just rarely swear in front of other people." Her mother had taught her well. No swearing, always say please and thank you, never voice unpleasant opinions out loud. Penny was the picture of the perfect politician's daughter. Until the unfortunate arrival of her powers.

The sight of his body falling to the ground made her gasp despite herself. "Good lord. I hate it when you do that." She said shaking her head as she sat up. "I know how it'll end but it always scares me half to death."

Penny had a hard time making friends. Her gift was so destructive that it forced her to keep her emotions shut off. It didn't always make for easy conversations with people. Especially in situations that tended to pop up in Limbo. She liked Drifter though. He was a much calmer presence than most.

"I got a letter from my mother."

She forced a smile. "She's running for office. Senator, I believe. She thinks that I should star in a PSA promoting the benefits of the lovely program that keeps us here. The one she turned me into when I was thirteen."

Oh he chuckled at the thought of Penny secretly swearing away. Something about that mental image just tickling the Cajun boy. She was always so prim an proper, a real lady of sorts. Hell even the whole inhuman strength thing never bothered Drifter in the least. After all the man was literally living fog, so who was he to judge.

Giving her a fright had never been something he set out to do, or even something he enjoyed doing either. In truth that mind of his was just typically a bit to clouded over to pay much attention to such matters in general. Yet when she shook her head and spoke up a hint of a frown tugged at his lip. "Sorry, luv...wasn't thinking. Just figured the fastest way down was falling."

Silence reigned though as he listened to his friend continue on, and that forced smile of hers wasn't fooling the tattooed man in the least. Still a southern gentleman...in his own way, Murk patiently listened on; just sitting there, smoking slowly as he gazed at her with slightly glazed over eyes. "Sounds like she's a real piece of work...but ya would look good on film, pet. Got dat charm and beauty down cold." Without missing a beat he reached out he hand, offering over the joint as he considered her situation.

"It's okay," she said softly with a laugh. "You definitely were not wrong. You did get down much faster." She had been with the Regiment since she was a kid and had seen so many different powers come through their doors. It still surprised her sometimes, what other people could do.

Reaching up, she pulled her hair up into a ponytail and frowned. "That is a very nice way of putting it. Since my powers manifested, she's treated me like a defective toy that she got. It's not what she wanted when she adopted me but she's making do with what she got."

"You're very sweet." Penny took the joint and took a deep drag. She wasn't much for drugs but pot was an occasional thing. It made her relax and not worry so much about breaking apart the complex and hurting people. "I don't want to do it," she confessed softly "I know they'll probably make me but I don't want to. How can I get in front of a camera and lie? Tell the world that I love having my life an and freewill taken away? Being forced to hurt people?"

Miah barely recalled much about his own family, since he had left home when he was only 14 years old. Still through the haze that constantly lingered across Drifter's mind he remembered moments of happiness and sorrow alike. Family was tough, people bound together by blood and meant to love one another, yet the clash of personalities could cause considerable tension. Even though Penny had been adopted he figured she felt a real bond to her family as well, and now that her mother was trying to force her to do something she had no desire to do...well the Cajun boy found himself at a loss.

Penny was quite literally one of the strongest people he had ever known, both due to her gift, and her innate strength of character. So to see her conflicted, to listen to the pain in her voice as she frowned...and caused his heart to ache a little. No one would ever excuse Murk of being a problem solver, but still he wanted to help ease the burden of his friend. So at last when she quietly confessed her concerns he leaned over and rested his shoulder against her own. "Know it probably ain't the right answer, suga, but why don't ya just say yes...and when the time comes to do dat video thing I'll just pop ya in the nose. Not hard enough to break it or nothing, but more than enough to give ya two black eyes and a swollen nose."

A gentle chuckle escaped him at the thought, and with a playful nudge of his elbow Drifter looked at her and teasingly winked. "Figure your mama can't go being mad at ya for not being able to do the video if someone 'accidentally' hit ya during training. So ya get out of it, your mama can't be prickly at anyone but me, and after a week or two dat pretty nose of yours will be all better too."

Penny laughed softly as she found herself genuinely considering his solution. Appearance was very important to Olivia and she would not look the part of the perfect super that her mother wanted her to be. "I can just imagine it now."

She let her face go neutral and then widened her eyes like her mother was prone to do. "Oh...Penelope...your pretty face." Clutching her chest, she shook her head. "She would definitely hate it. Then again...She is a politician so she'd find a way to spin it." Penny was stuck and she knew it. "It's fine...I'll just do it. Then maybe I'll get put on a mission and they'll let me break things."

Looking over at him, she offered him a small smile. "I'm sorry. I know it's a silly thing to be so bothered by." She made a face and sighed. "She just gets to me and I hate it." Being adopted never bothered Penny until moments like this. She wondered if her birth mother was like her. Was she in a compound somewhere too? Was she in limbo?

"Anyway. Listen to me, spilling my guts. How are you doing?"

Between the weed, government issued chems, and her impression of her mother, Penny had Drifter cracking up hard. The sound of his laughter echoed out across the Hologym, and that grin of his grew so bright too. Oh when the mood turned sadder both smile and chuckle faded away, yet there was still a sparkle in his eyes behind those sunglasses of his. "I pity the fool who comes across ya on that mission, darling...poor guy doesn't stand a chance at all." Titan was a force to be reckoned with for sure, and after serving in the same unit for a long while Miah had seen just how much damage she could inflict when properly motivated.

Strong yet sweet, proper but willing to smoke with him too. Yeah the blonde was in his book when it came to those he cared for. "Ain't no need to go fretting none, Penny. Far as I can tell it's not silly at all. I mean...whole thing sucks, and she's got ya caught between a rock and a hard place for sure. Leave it to mom's to go laying on the guilt trip heavy like...hell even Jesus got talked into making wine all cause his mama gave em that look that only mother's seem to have."

Oh his bible and book learning really weren't up to snuff, but there was something bout a god making wine that just tickled the Cajun boy. The question of how he was doing did catch Murk off guard though, and with a sheepish little smile the tattooed man simply shrugged his shoulders. "Wanna say I'm pissed and raging over this shit with Red, but the drugs...well it's like I've always got a fucking wet blanket covering my mind. Keeps me from, not from feeling...but it's all muted and shit. Still aside from dat I can't complain. Got Beau, Lucy, and you around so that helps alot. Plus they were serving those square pizza slice in the cafeteria too, so I'm full as well. Guess I wouldn't mind fooling round for a bit with ya, if that interested ya some. If not...well still got some more weed to blaze, and flask with fresh made shine."

It had taken a really long time for Penny to become comfortable in what she could do. She didn't like being the cause of people hurting. However, she did like helping people and was becoming uncomfortably fond of breaking things. "I really wish I didn't enjoy breaking things so much," she said laughing softly "But it's nice to get out there and not feel like I have to keep everything...bottled up."

"Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if I hadn't been adopted. If maybe I'd still have ended up here or if my birth mother would have kept me safe." She leaned against him slightly before laughing again at his comments about Jesus. "I think having the ability to make wine out of water would be a power that I could really appreciate."

The situation with Tinker was really frustrating for her as well. She would love nothing more than to be able to find the missing girl and hurt the people who were no doubt hurting her. Trying to keep her emotions in check was a constant struggle for her. "We'll get her back," she said softly. "She's much stronger than she looks." Penny could feel the heat rising to her face when he mentioned fooling around. She nudged him and shook her head. "That's very sweet of you and a very nice offer but maybe we should stick to the pot."

In truth Jeremiah nearly died from his powers back when he was young; for two years his lungs continued to slowly fill with poison from his not quite manifested ability. The damage had been severe, to say the least, and if it weren't for a small group of others like him...well Drifter would've been dead long ago. Once they helped him draw out those latent abilities though, well the Cajun boy took to flight and being weightless/form with relative ease. To him being a super was simply second nature, and while the destructive side of his powers once gave him pause that trepidation long since faded away. "No need to go feeling bad about it at all, mon ami. Ya are good at tearing shit up, and I do love watching ya work."

Murk wasn't sure how things would've played out had she been brought up in this world of powered folk. Yet he figured some spark of that brave, and sweet, woman would always be a part of her. "Now dat's a power I could get behind. Like one of those Greek gods...the one who was in charge of wine and partying. Fuck, I'd call him or her a dear friend, long as they hooked me up with the booze." Just thinking about had his mouth watering, and after fishing out his flask Drifter took a large swing of the moon shine he had brewed up in his tub. A soft cough escaped the man for a second, but as the liquid burned it's way down his throat Miah sighed contentedly.

He knew Penny was right about getting Red back, but some lingering shred of doubt tickled at the back of his mind. Even through the narcotics he feared for his missing friend...and that fear didn't sit right with him at all. It was only when she spoke up again that Drifter managed to turn his thoughts back to the present, and with a warm little chuckle that eyebrow of his arched slightly. "Maybe, eh?" With a playful wink Jeremiah leaned closer; those soft lips of his finding purchase against her bare neck, so lightly trailing just a few little kisses along her flesh, until Penny could feel him gently nibbling as well.

Penny laughed softly and shrugged. "It's always nice to have a fan," she joked. The truth was that there was a part of her that always wanted to be tearing things apart. She hated it. She hated knowing that she had learned how to hurt people at a young age and would probably be doing it until her early and likely violent death. It was good to have people who cared about her around though. Especially people who thought that their powers weren't always a bad thing and didn't judge people for enjoying them.

"Hey, who knows, maybe that's where those myths came from. Maybe they were just supes like us who could do all those things," she said laughing. "Maybe they would have been trapped in here just like us. Which would be very helpful to us because then we would never run out of wine."

She wished that she was better at the emotions thing. Trying to make her faith that they would find Tinker sound more honest. A lot of them had no one else but the friends that they made inside the Regiment and the idea of losing them was scary. Penny pushed her thoughts away as he leaned closer to her. "Maybe...okay...a little fooling around," she said with a soft laugh as she tilted her to allow him better access to her neck. Her eyes drifted shut as she reached out to rest her hand on his arm. This was definitely not his worst idea ever.

Oh he was a fan of hers, without a doubt. Just seeing how Penny handled herself in the fray of combat; watching her tearing into the enemies that opposed them during missions...all that beauty and raw strength in a perfect package, and coupled with a real sweetness to her as well. Oh most just wrote him off as a living weapon, with no real mind of his own anymore. Yet she had given him a chance, and had grown close to his heart. Romantic feelings and emotions weren't Drifter's cup of tea, especially since it was hard to picture a world or life beyond this prison. Still showing tenderness and even affection were within Murk's wheelhouse.

There was something so good about baser instincts, and the effect that a gentle touch could offer. Just the taste of her skin against his lips, and hearing her soft laughter had Miah's mind reeling with amusing thoughts. He sucked at talking, at offering much in the way of wisdom or guidance, but the man figured he could at least try and help her forget her troubles...even if it was just for a little while. After setting aside the flask his hands moved at last; one interlocking his fingers with her own, as the other moved to help lay Penny down on the floor.

Without saying a word he just shifted till he was leaning over her, those shades of his dipping down to reveal his eyes. Oh a touch of red was seen there thanks to the drugs, but still those piercing green eyes of his just held her gaze, as a soft smile was seen again. "Just a little..." At last those lips of his gently sought out her own; a heated yet genuine kiss starting, even as his nails were felt raking teasingly across her stomach. That workout getup of hers was all manner of practical, but also quite pleasing to the eyes. Pink and black, and showing her lovely form too. Unable to resist the urge Jeremiah's fingers trailed up higher, and as the kiss intensified Murk lovingly cupped her breast.
