Penny felt her heart jump at the sound of someone else's voice in the gym before she laughed. "I often swear," she admitted. "I just rarely swear in front of other people." Her mother had taught her well. No swearing, always say please and thank you, never voice unpleasant opinions out loud. Penny was the picture of the perfect politician's daughter. Until the unfortunate arrival of her powers.
The sight of his body falling to the ground made her gasp despite herself. "Good lord. I hate it when you do that." She said shaking her head as she sat up. "I know how it'll end but it always scares me half to death."
Penny had a hard time making friends. Her gift was so destructive that it forced her to keep her emotions shut off. It didn't always make for easy conversations with people. Especially in situations that tended to pop up in Limbo. She liked Drifter though. He was a much calmer presence than most.
"I got a letter from my mother."
She forced a smile. "She's running for office. Senator, I believe. She thinks that I should star in a PSA promoting the benefits of the lovely program that keeps us here. The one she turned me into when I was thirteen."
