Who: Kirley, Orsino and Elliot Thruston-Duke
When: Lunch time, Wednesday
Where: Duke's Music, Edinburgh
What: Elliot and O bring K some lunch
Rating: G
Status: Incomplete

Elliot’s head darted around as soon as he entered the music shop with Orsino, a grin coming to his face when he spotted his other father. “Da!” The two year old called out, tugging on O’s hand and trying to pull him over to Kirley.

“Settle Cub. Don’t rush. We don’t want to drop our lunch.” Orsino chuckled, walking over to his husband at a steady pace - one hand holding Elliot’s, the other carrying a basket with some lunch in it. As they got closer, O let go of Cub’s hand and let him run over to Kirley. The little boy giggled, hugging K tight as soon as he reached him.

“Da. Cub, Da-Skeez... mmm nomnom.” Elliot spoke, still babbling slightly, his excitement making the words he was trying to say run into each other. O held up the basket, a smile on his face and a spark of pride in his eyes. “We made lunch, Panda. Your favourite soup. Cub helped.”

Grinning at his husband's suggestion, Kirley nodded, double checking the door was locked as Orsino arranged the cushions on the floor. Elliot tugged on his hand and he followed the toddler into the living room. another smile came to his lips at Orsino's encouragement and he nodded. 'OK, I'll have a serious think about it.' He had enjoyed teaching before the band made it big and he had been helping O to learn too, loving every second he spent teaching his Squirrel. 'It may be that you only need to watch the shop for an hour or so during a lesson.'

Taking a seat on the cushion beside his excitable son, Kirley sniffed the air as Orsino undid the soup container. 'Mmm, smells good, Squiz.' Running his fingers through Elliot's soft curls, he let out a content sigh, happy to have this time with his boys. 'So you helped make the soup, Cub? Do you remember what went in the mixture?'

"Good." Orsino smiled when Kirley said he'd think about it. He had learnt a lot from his husband and thought other potential guitar players could benefits from his teachings, that is, if Kirley wanted to teach. "We could set up a little play area for Cub, either back here with you teaching or in the shop. We can make it work."

Elliot mimicked his father and sniffed the air, humming in appreciation and bringing forth a chuckle from Orsino. Cub was a little clone of Kirley, parroting everything his father did. O knew the little boy idolised Kirley but he wasn't sure if his husband knew it.

"Ca-ot." Elliot pointed to an orange piece in the mixture as Orsino dished it up and passed K a bowl. "Oh. Da." Cub then reached forward and grabbed a spoon and passed it to K.

Smiling as Orsino did, he nodded again, mind turning over all the possible ways he could teach and still maintain the shop. It was almost as tricky as figuring out a tour schedule. Who would have thought that working nine to five could be so complex? 'Aye, I sure we can make it work, together. We can do anything as a team.'

A little smile came to his lips as Elliot copied him and he leaned in to press a kiss to his son's forhead. 'Ooh, carrot, my favourite.' Kirley grinned, taking the bowl from Orsino carefully, 'thanks, Squirrel-Love.' He chuckled as Elliot made a grab for one of the spoons and handed it to him. 'Ta, Cub.'

"Mmhmm," Orsino let out a pleased hum of agreement, truly believing Kirley's statement. They'd make it work. "Maybe I could give drum lessons too. I mean... I've never taught anything before but I could try and it might work." He shrugged and ladled some soup into the bowls.

"You're welcome." He smiled as Elliot handed K a spoon. "Cub, are you OK to feed yourself? Remember, soup is still hot. Blow on it first, OK?" Elliot nodded, whole body bobbing up and down with the movement. Orsino placed a very small amount of soup in a bowl for Cub and gave him his baby-size soup spoon, a proud smile coming to his face as his son did as he was told.

"Mmm, oop." Elliot hummed happily, slurping his soup and making a mess as he chewed with his mouth open. "Da... nomnom oop?" He turned his head up to K after swallowing his mouthful and looked up to his Da to see what he thought of the soup.

A bright smile came to his face as Orsino suggested giving drum lessons and he nodded. 'Y'know someone asked me about drum lessons just the other day. They'd been trying to teach themselves but weren't having much luck. I'd like to learn properly too one day. You could test your teaching skills out on me.'

Watching as his son took his bowl, Kirley paused before eating his own - just in case Da was needed. Elliot was getting good at feeding himself though so K could relax a little. A proud grin came to his lips as Cub ate happily and he took a spoonful of his own. Humming in approval of the taste.

'Mmm delicious.' Kirley smiled as Cub looked up at him, 'aye Da nomnom soup.' He reached across with his free hand and patted O's knee. 'Perfect. Just how I like it.'

"OK," Orsino nodded, a smile coming to his face, happy that his idea was accepted. "OK. I'll teach you first. Maybe tonight after dinner or on the weekend." He felt glad he could help out, even if his contribution was small. Orsino hated feeling inadequate and wanted to do anything to ease the burden Kirley was carrying of trying to keep everything together.

Elliot was still a little unsteady with feeding himself and dribbled a bit on his jumper but he was determined to do it himself - a little bit stubborn like all his parents. Besides, Orsino always had spare clothes on hand in Elliot's baby bag just in case.

Orsino reached down with his free hand and held the hand on his knee for a moment. "Thank you." A faint pink blush appeared on his cheeks. "Cub helped a lot. Didn't you, Cub? Tell Da what you remembered to put in the soup."

Elliot looked to O when he heard his nickname, head bobbing up and down at the question. "Ca-ot. Moo. Co-ee... um." He looked up at K, seeing if his Da understood and knew the last ingredient he was trying so hard to pronounce.

'Tonight would be great. I have a feeling I will need to unwind a bit later. I have to look at the accounts this afternoon. We both know how much I love maths... not.' A wry smile came to his lips, thinking that it was at times like these that having your Ravenclaw brother living in a pyramid was a bad idea.Lacing his fingers with his husband's as he took his hand, the brunette smiled. O still blushed at compliments, so adorable. 'My clever, busy boys.'

His attention went to their son and a little grin curved his lips wider as the tot nodded. Listening as Cub listed the ingredients, his eyes glistened with pride and as Elliot looked at him he nodded. 'Coriander. You really did remember everything. Clever Cub.'

Orsino made a face when Kirley mentioned he had to do the accounts that afternoon. Neither of them liked maths or bookwork. "You could always ask Portia to help. She is good with numbers and stuff." He mimicked his husband's smile, knowing K was thinking about Archie.

His eyes darted between Kirley and Cub. He loved watching father and son interact and the look of pride Kirley had that was mirrored on his on own face.

Elliot grinned when his Da nodded, happy with the praise although not completely sure what it meant other than it was good. "Da... oop... den Boo?" Cub gave his cutest smile, hoping Kirley would let him play with the guitars in the shop after lunch.

A little laugh escaped him at the look on Orsino's face as the accounts were mentioned. Neither of them were fond of book work as they called it. 'Oh, I hadn't thought of Pea. D'you not think that would be a bit cheeky? Maybe I could ask her to check over what I've done later?'

Smiling in return as Cub grinned, Kirley tilted his head at the little request, pretending to think hard about it. 'Aye, we can play, if you finish all your soup, like a good boy.' Squeezing O's hand again, he let go, suddenly realising he needed to finish his lunch too.

'This really is delicious. I'm going to phone your Dad later and tell him you've only been pretending all these years when you've said you can't cook!' He was teasing of course, and his tone was playful as he spoke.

Orsino shrugged but knew deep down that his sister would be willing to help out in any way she could. All the Thruston siblings liked to be helpful in their own ways (although, usually Lysander's help would be unwanted advice). "I think she'd be happy to help. She doesn't have much to do now other than look after Jackson... which, you know, is really important but she has Don to help her with that." He pause, realising he was rambling a little. "Sorry. I mean... what I am trying to say is that I get the feeling she is a little bored being unemployed."

Cub's eyes took on a more pleading look when Kirley thought about his request, not realising his Da was only pretending to think hard about it. "'K!" The boy agreed loudly to the terms his Da had set, a very pleased look on his little face. Elliot ate with a little more enthusiasm, keen to meet the conditions set so he got to play.

A faint pink blush appeared on the drummer's cheeks at the compliment, even though it had been followed by a tease O knew what the guitarist meant. "I'm only remembering what I learnt from you. You're the brilliant cook." Orsino's tone was filled with honesty. "And I think Cub will follow in your footsteps as far as cooking is concerned."

'I'll give her a call later.' Kirley smiled, knowing exactly what his sister in law was going through. He'd been exactly the same when the band had been on hiatus before. Now he had the shop to look after, he was much more at ease with the Weird Sisters' extended breaks.

Giggling as their son agreed to his conditions, the guitarist shot his husband a grin. Still amused that Elliot's version of OK was just his nickname. Finishing his soup, he watched at Cub ate his, making sure the little boy ate it all up.

Another faint blush on his husband's cheeks brought a loving smile to K's face and he ducked his head as the compliment was turned on to him. 'Years of practice with my Nan. But thanks.' The little bit of information made him tilt his head in curiosity, 'did you See that?'

Elliot seemed to get more soup on his tshirt than in his actual mouth as he ate his meal so he could play with the guitars in his Pa's shop. The little boy was very gentle with the guitars, careful not to break them. Apparently inheriting both his fathers' appreciation for the instruments.

The duck of Kirley's head at the compliment brought a smile to O's face, pleased he wasn't the only one that was shy at accepting compliments. At the question O gave a little shrug, an apologetic look in his eyes. "I think so. I mean... I didn't actually see him cooking but... I don't know. Just get the feeling he will be good at cooking, you know?" It was hard to explain the feelings Orsino had about things that hadn't happened yet. But Kirley would always listen to what O had to say about his dreams and feelings and not laugh - one of the many reasons why O loves K.

"All gone." Elliot piped up, dropping his spoon in the empty bowl. He looked up to K expectantly, waiting to hear that he had eaten enough to get to play. "Pease Da.... Boo?"

The apologetic look in his husband's eyes made him frown a tiny bit and he reached out to pat Orsino's leg again. 'It doesn't matter if you didn't see it, if you feel he will be then he will be.' K smiled, moving to stack the empty bowls together then.

'All gone?' Kirley parroted his little boy, a big grin on his face. The expectant look on Elliot's face made his heart melt, even though he knew the boy had him wrapped around his little finger. 'You're a mucky Cub,' pulling his wand from his pocket he cleaned the drips from Elliot's top. 'There, now we can go and play.'

O looked down at the hand on his knee and smiled, appreciating that Kirley was so understanding. "He will be whatever he wants to be. Anything I see... it's not fixed. We have to let him make his own choices, you know?" Orsino then picked up the stack of empty bowls and stood and moved over to the sink in the kitchen to wash them up. His Mumma had taught him from a young age to always tidy up after himself - a trait he hoped Elliot would pick up.

"Ma-kee." Cub parroted the word, looking down at his top. A gasp of shock escaped the little boy when the mess disappeared. Even though Elliot lived in a magic household, the muggle way was still used often and therefore magic still amazed him. "YAY!" Cub clapped, extremely pleased his Da said they could now play. He stood up, bouncing a little on his feet with excitement, and offered a hand to Kirley so they could go play together.
