WHO: Noah Bennet and Parker
WHAT: Finally following through on a bet made a few months earlier.
WHEN: Mid-afternoon
WHERE: Barnes and Noble (to start with)
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
Normally not one for crowds, or places where one was expected to act a specific way, Parker was currently oblivious to both the groups of people as well as the social expectations found within a bookstore. She was far too busy focusing on her task. A task which, while others might consider to be a bit odd given her surroundings, was quite important to her.
She was looking for a book.
Not just any book, though. No, she was looking for a specific book. And while a bookstore the size of Barnes and Noble would normally be the ideal place to find a specific book, in this particular situation it was actually a bit of a hindrance. After all the book she was searching for wasn't going to be listed in the computer and no employee would know where it was located.
You see, it was a book about, well, her. Or rather everything she'd done since the moment she'd arrived in Colligo. It had been stolen from the library by Noah when he'd arrived in the city and, while it had been blank to start with, had at some point begun to tell the tale of her adventures thus far within the city limits.
Really, though, none of that mattered all that much to the blond who was currently dashing across the main length of the bookstore with an ever-present stopwatch keeping time inside her head. She honestly didn't care if Noah knew what she'd done at Colligo and wasn't too worried about it falling into someone else's hands, either. No, the main reason she was looking for the book was because if she didn't find hers, before Noah found the one that she'd hidden that told of his tale in Colligo, she was going to have to pay for dinner. And while there was a lot of things that Parker was willing to do, spending her money on someone else's food was not one of them.
So it was with quite a victorious shout that she managed to locate her book - in the true crime nonfiction section, of course - and snatched it off the shelf. With a broad grin she hugged the tome to herself, pointedly ignored the people milling about who were staring oddly at her, and spun on her heel intent on finding Noah to brag about her accomplishment... only to find him standing there, his book already firmly in his grasp.
Which had, mere seconds before, been on the other side of the store.
Which meant that he'd won.
Which meant she was buying dinner.
With a soft gasp and a clearly affronted look that was only borderline joking, Parker announced quite matter-of-factly, "Not fair!"
