Sookie had been working so much lately. She hadn't had a moment to herself. She was taking some time today to get out and see the outdoors. She was taking a walk. She loved her job. It was really what she was used to, she liked Harvelle's almost as much as she liked Merlotte's. Jo was a good boss. She wasn't Sam, though. Sookie missed her family and friends back in Bon Temps. She had been married, for lack of a better word, to Castiel... that was not something that she had ever thought that she would be, was married. It was hard to have a spouse when you could hear every little thing they were thinking. That was why things had gone so well with Bill... and she supposed Eric, as far as that was concerned, anyway. She really missed Bill. She supposed she missed Eric, even if he was an ass. It was one of those things that you didn't know you missed until you didn't have it anymore. She mostly just missed him being sarcastic with her.

There was some things about this place that reminded her of Bon Temps, because there was a lot of freaky stuff going on here just like back home. Sookie really didn't want to run into anything that went bump in the night here. She didn't really know how she was supposed to avoid it, trouble always followed her wherever she went. Sookie supposed she should just get used to it, and that was another reason why she did the best she could to keep people from finding out she was a faery. She didn't think it would be a good idea to let it out. She supposed she was going to have to go see Claude, she hadn't really seen much of him since he had arrived in Colligo. Not that she really knew him that well. She had just found out he was in her family to begin with. Sometimes, she still couldn't believe that her gran had had an affair with a faery. It had not been something that she thought Adele would ever do. She didn't judge her gran though, the heart wanted what the heart wanted. Sookie had been raised by Adele and she wouldn't trade that for anything. She missed being able to go to her gran's grave, and living in her house. Even if it had been bought out from under her when she had been in the land of the fae.

Maybe she should go to the library, get some new books. She hadn't had time to read, she hadn't been able to be separated from Castiel except for work. That had been a big annoyance. Sookie didn't like to not have control. It all stemmed from what her uncle had done to her. But no, she wasn't going to think about that. She had come a long way since then and the man was dead. Sookie had been mad at Bill at the time for what he had done, but she was glad he was dead. Sookie couldn't help it. She had endured such torture from him and him not breathing air that everyone else got to breathe was a good thing.

She turned her mind to other matters. He wasn't worth thinking about.

It was nice of Lizzy to offer to give her a job. Sookie hadn't been able to keep many of her jobs because of what she was always hearing her bosses think. Sookie had had to really work at keeping her concentration on something else instead of her boss' thoughts. Even if Sam had always told her that his brain was open for her. Sookie liked Sam a lot but he was always hard to read, anyway, because he was a shifter and their thoughts came in differently.

"I would love to come in and have some gumbo with you." Sookie said, finally realizing that she should say something. She looked at Lizzy. She had never known that Lizzy had known Castiel. "I didn't know you knew Castiel." She said, her eyes widening. "I don't really have much to say about him, I mean... he's a nice man, but I didn't really know what to say to him." It had been hard, Sookie had been able to hear his thoughts, and she wasn't sure she had wanted to know. She always found out things she knew she didn't want to know in the first place.

Sookie didn't really have many friends in Colligo, because she didn't do much other than work at Harvelle's. "I, I'm a waitress." Sookie said, and before she knew what she was thinking, she said, "I can hear people's thoughts, and waitressing is all I can do, because I wasn't able to get more than a high school education."

Oh no, it was out. What was she going to do now?

"Good," Lizzy said with a smile. Once they were settled she nodded, taking a sip of her tea. "Cas is a friend of my...I guess you'd call them my family here." She shrugged. "It's pretty complicated." She wasn't even sure how to go explaining Benny and the Winchesters and everything to someone who didn't already know, but she also knew she needed to be honest with Sookie. They were friends, and honesty was an important part of any friendship. She remembered how angry she'd been when she found out Benny had been lying to her, and she knew she couldn't do that to someone else.

Then Sookie went and told her she could read minds, looking for all the world like she'd let something terrible slip, and Lizzy breathed a sigh of relief. At least she wasn't the only one who wasn't sure how to go about sharing things like that. "My great-grandfather is a vampire," she said with a shrug. "For the longest time, I didn't even know he was family. He just...looked out for me. And then some hunter came and tried to use me to get to him...and we're both here now, staying with a friend of his...it's a lot to take in. But...what I'm saying is, I don't care a bit if you can read folks' thoughts. You're a friend and that's all that matters to me."

She sighed, stirring her gumbo idly with her spoon. "Offer stands," she said. "If you already got a job and don't want to leave it, that's fine. But I could use a waitress around here and it'd be nice to have a friend around."

Sookie took a bite of her gumbo, and let out a happy sigh. She really missed food from back home. She had gotten to like gumbo a lot when she had visited New Orleans, she had been there because her cousin Hadley had died. She had liked her time there. Well, other than trying to figure out what had happened to Hadley. She had been a consort of the Queen of Louisiana, that had been an eye opener.

"I appreciate that, back home I'm known as Crazy Sookie." She said, glad that Lizzy still wanted to be her friend. Most people didn't really know what to do with her, and Sookie didn't really know what to do with them. It was hard when you heard things you didn't really want to hear. Sookie looked at her. "Did it come out in the big vampire coming out deal? My gran was really excited after that happened, what with the synthetic blood and all, I even went to Fangtasia, it's this vampire bar."

Then again, Lizzy may be from a different kind of world than Sookie was, but there was no way that she couldn't know about the big reveal, it had been all over the country. Sookie had to say, she'd been real fascinated with the idea of vampires, that was, until she had gotten to know some of them. Then her life had just become complicated.
