WHO: John Winchester & God
WHAT: Emmy wants to have a conversation with John. John hopes he hasn't backed himself into a smiting corner.
WHEN: January 24th; Evening
WHERE: The Roadhouse
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

It would not have been an exaggeration for John to say that he was scared shitless as he stepped into the Roadhouse and quietly sought out a booth to settle down into. The thought of having a conversation with God because he'd threatened one of her kids, when he knew all too well just how angry a protective parent could get, was enough to leave him feeling sick to his stomach. A protective parent with the ability to blink him out of existence was not something that he really wanted to think too hard about. So as he slipped into the booth, John waved over one of the waiters immediately and ordered a whiskey. Beer wasn't going to cut it for this conversation. He needed something to not only steel his nerves but take away some of the barriers that might hold himself back.

He was willing to wager that God would appreciate honesty more than blind obedience, and if he was wrong, well, he would feel less pain if he was a bit drunk.

Hesitating as the waiter asked if he wanted anything else, John glanced across the booth before turning back to the waiter. What in the world did you order for God? Did he even bother? After a moment of silence, John waved him off with a quiet assurance that if the person joining him wanted anything, that he could always come back later. Better to wait and let Her order for Herself than guess wrong.

Meri didn't even really acknowledge Gabi, much less respond to her. Instead she simply helped her brother get through the front door of the building. Part of her wanted nothing more than to get them both patched up then go to their room and not leave until they were fit for duty again. Whenever that might be. Another part of her, though, wanted to go back outside, beat the ever loving fuck out of her grandfather, then get back to killing as many evil things as she could find before the blood loss she was suffering brought her down once and for all. She would do the former, of course, instead of the latter, but that didn't keep her from partially considering it. She was tired, so tired of everything, and almost losing Jack - even if it had always been a possibility, they'd never come quite this close before - had taken its toll on her. So rather than being her normal, mouthy self, Meri was uncharacteristically quiet to the point of subdued. For now, at least.

Meg knew, of course, that neither twin would stay too broken for long. Sure, parts of them would always be shattered beyond repair, but Jack would bounce back because Meri and Gabi would need him, and Meri would bounce back because Jack and Gabi would need her. That was just how the twins seemed to work. They were able to push beyond losses that were unfathomable, deal with disappointment and heartache in stride, because they both were too stubborn to let the other one down and neither would even consider leaving Gabi alone. Ever.

Her thoughts about the kids - which, contrary to what John probably thought, she did actually care for them - were cut short by Clint's arrival. There was relief shining in her eyes even as she smirked at him, returning the kiss before glancing over her shoulder at the direction the twins had gone. With a stifled sigh, she looked back to her husband. Which, yes, that was still pretty out there - her being married - but Meg wasn't going to pretend otherwise. Especially not with John Winchester around for her to annoy with that fact.

"Looks like Loki got tired of asking Jack to joined him and forced the issue," she replied, tone low but not so low that those present couldn't hear her. She just didn't want her voice trailing inside to where others might also overhear. Not everyone fighting on their side needed to be in the know about everything that happened. It was easier, that way.

"He damn near got one-up on Meri before she managed to beat his head in enough to get him back. And then, grandpa of the year over here showed up." Tipping her head toward John, her attention slid next to Gabi. "He's who he says he is, kiddo," she assured the youngest Winchester. Then the corner of her mouth lifted upward. "But if you want to run him through some tests, I'm sure as hell not going to stop you," she tacked on as she stepped through the front door of their headquarters... and immediately went still, waiting for Clint or Gabi to break the seal of the Devil's Trap she was standing on, so she could continue further.

John officially gave up on trying to figure this place out. John hadn't really paid attention to the prior mentions of a 'husband' in regards to Meg. They didn't exactly compute in his brain, and there was more than enough to grasp in these few seconds than he really had the ability to wrap his head around. But seeing the man standing in front of him, looking more than perfectly human, John's mind tried to revolt even more. This was wrong. It was one thing, this place having lines drawn where you couldn't kill someone just because of what they were, but there was something almost... bestial about the idea of marrying a demon. Which was made all the more odd by the fact that the man standing in front of him...looked like a sane individual.

"You're not that old, Clint," Gabi chimed, disrupting John's train of thought as she shouldered the bow and quiver, flashing Clint a playful grin. "Did they? Man. I wish I could have seen it. I bet Loki's troops all have a lovely layer of seared skin now. I'll put these back," she said, sparing a glance to John before turning her attention to Meg, breaking the Devil's Trap to let her pass through, trusting that Clint would put it back into place once she had, before heading back towards her lab set up. "I'll get things in place to chip Gramps. Once he's stopped bugging out, bring him on back."

"I'm not-" John started to protest only to be interrupted by a very loud, sing-songy, "I don't caaaaaaaare," before Gabi vanished into another room.
