Who: Helen Magnus and James Watson
Where: Library at The Sanctuary
When: Wednesday, July 11th. Evening
What: A long overdue talk about recent events
Status: In Progress

Ever since James' accidental public post about this feelings for John, Helen had noticed that he had gone out of his way to avoid her, but then again she had been doing the same thing. Of course whenever they couldn't avoid one another they were perfectly polite, but Helen knew that this could not continue on like this if she didn't want it to escalate into something worse, which would ultimately cause problems between all of them. She still wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the idea of James and John together and not because she didn't want them to be, but because it was still such a shock to her and she supposed that part of her had always assumed that John would always be there trying to get her back. It wasn't that she couldn't, or even wouldn't, forgive him for the things that he'd done in the past, but that she was afraid. Afraid of getting hurt again. She'd spent so many years feeling this way that if she forgave him and let go of the past, she wasn't entirely sure what she would do after that.

Knowing that she was never going to figure out what to do where John was concerned if her and James continued to avoid one another, Helen headed towards the library where she knew she would find either him or Nikola, but she hoped it would be James. Luckily it was James who was in the library when she stepped inside, "Good evening, James."

"I'm alright. And yourself?" Helen said, pausing just inside the library for a moment, "Can we talk?" She figured that there was no sense beating around the bush, because the longer they put this off, the more awkward things were going to become and then there was the chance the John and James would move out of the Sanctuary and if what Ashley had said on James' post was true, she would go with them and Helen couldn't lose her again. Even if it was just somewhere else in town.

"I'm quite well, thank you." Ah, and there was the words that he was fearing she'd say. Talking. Well no time like the present to get this all over with. "Of course, we can talk. What's on your mind?" As if he didn't know what was on her mind. Still, it would be rude of him to assume that she wanted to talk about the elephant in the room. Perhaps she wanted to talk about books or the Sanctuary or something.

Though he wanted to get a drink, he turned to her and gave her a smile. "There are some things we need to discuss, aren't there? What would you like to know?"

Helen wished it were that simple and that all she wanted to talk about was The Sanctuary or books or anything but what she had really come here to discuss with James, because it was already so very obvious that this was going to be one of the most awkward conversations that she had, had in a very long while. Despite being the one to initiate this, she was glad that James was the one to really start the conversation instead of playing dumb.

Crossing her arms over her chest, Helen sighed, "First of all, I would like to apologize for avoiding you the last few days. I tried telling myself that I wasn't doing it outright, but it was quite obvious." She was sure that it was obvious to others in the Sanctuary as well, "And second, I would like to apologize for my reaction towards your feelings for John. I'll admit, I was rather surprised considering your past. And my own past with John didn't make my reaction any any better." There was so much more that needed to be said, but it was a start and she was sure that the rest would come before they left this library.

Talking about anything else was preferable to anyone in the Sanctuary talking about their feelings. None of them were very known for it, were they? Except for the fact that now Kate and Nikola were married. That seemed to lighten things up a bit. Still, this whole thing made him kind of want to hide under a blanket. Which was sad, since he didn't remember the last time he felt like this.

"It's all right, there's no reason to apologize, Helen. I've been doing my fair share of avoiding as well," he said, clearing his throat. He kind of wished he had a cup of tea. "As for your reaction, it wasn't unwarranted in a way. I was rather expecting it." Though he didn't know what that said about their relationship. "I know, but he and I.. have been here for quite some time. There were periods where we had been sent back, but.. even when we weren't here. I care for him. Deeply."

"Has it been that bad with my previous selves?" Helen knew that technically she had been there before and she knew that John had been hurt by her before; not only there but at home as well and she didn't really blame him for moving on. As strange as it might be to think about. "If you were expecting me to react badly then it must have been." She recalled what James had said when she'd first arrived about him not wanting John to get hurt because she was there." Sighing, she finally moved to take a seat at the table.

James gave a non-committed shrug of his shoulders in answer to her question. "A bit. You've always been.." he didn't really want to have this conversation with her about her behavior. "It's just that he has always been deeply in love with you, and he always will be. I know you blame him for things, but they really aren't his fault. Every time you show up, it just gives him hope that he shouldn't have." Because clearly she wasn't going to ever give him what he wanted.
