Who: The Eleventh Doctor and Rose Tyler.
What: Chips. And other stuff too, but...chips.
Where: A chip shop.
When: Evening.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Though they hardly spent as much time together as they once had, for any number of reasons, the Doctor still cared deeply for Rose Tyler. He had loved her once, and though he was no longer in love with her, she was still important to him. He knew the things that kept them apart, his discomfort with Jack and her occasional discomfort with River amongst other things, shouldn't have been such a barrier, but there was also a part of him that hadn't wanted to get too close. Because he knew he would never be her Doctor. And he could be, at times, a very selfish man. He didn't like competing with his former regeneration, especially knowing he could never really win, and it was frustrating to know that he would never be quite good enough where Rose was concerned. Oh, it wasn't her fault. She'd known the other him far longer. They had shared something here. It made sense. Besides, the Doctor's perception of how Rose viewed him was just that. His perception. He knew he might be reading things wrong, allowing his own insecurities to rule him. It was something, he had been told, that he had a bad habit of doing.

But none of that mattered right now. Rose was, if not quite upset, at least uncomfortable with his other self's arrival. Given his tenth incarnation's anger and inability to listen to reason, he could hardly blame her. So, he had offered to take her to get chips so that she could take her mind off the things that were bothering her. Simple, fun and unlikely to end in any running. Well, no evening was perfect. Still, this would work well enough. He had decided to pick Rose up at her place, choosing to walk rather than take the TARDIS both because there was a chip shop close enough to where she lived and because it seemed a bit rude to kick everyone out of the TARDIS just so he could spend time with her. Yes, he was a bit concerned that his other self might try to steal her in his absence, but he had the utmost confidence in his wife's ability to defend his...other wife.

Knocking on Rose's door, he shifted from one foot to the other awkwardly as he waited, then gave a bright smile as the door opened. "Hello, Rose," he said with a smile and a little wave.

He had noticed? For a moment Rose felt guilty thinking like that but part of her couldn't help that little bit of, well, jealousy that crept into her. Though she didn't think she had been that quiet but she supposed, when she looked back on it, she had been a lot more within herself than getting involved.

"Of course I would." Well she may depending on what was wrong. She felt like she didn't know him well enough to know how to talk to him about how she felt if it wasn't happy. Some may view that as weird since he was the Doctor also but she didn't know him. His personality. How he thought about certain things.

"I am just running out of patience waiting for things to happen. I don't mean normal, every day things but...Adventures. Monsters. Running. I only now realise just how dull my life was before we went travelling."
