WHO: Spike and Buffy Summers
WHAT: Buffy and Spike have gone back to normal and now have quite a bit to talk about
WHEN: May 13th; Early morning
WHERE: Spike's apartment
RATING: PG probably
STATUS: In Progress

The first thing Spike was aware of as he woke up, besides the fact that it was still dark out, was that he was not alone in his bed; not that this was all that new, considering Buffy had spent the night a few times since she'd been brought back to Colligo, but what made this time different was the fact that he didn't actually remember going to sleep. Sitting up, he reached over and turned on the lamp beside the bed despite the fact that he had no trouble seeing in the dark and picked up his PDA, blue eyes widening slightly as he noted the date. May thirteenth? It wasn't until he glanced over at the sleeping Buffy that the last two weeks finally came rushing back to him as his grogginess instantly vanished. They'd been their future selves. They'd been married. And he'd been human. Exactly how he'd become human, he couldn't remember; there were bits and pieces of things, but as soon as he tried to focus on something it slipped away and he was left with only the last two weeks. There was something else that had happened at some point during those two weeks, but Spike couldn't quite remember what it was. What he did remember, however was that his future self had apparently stopped bleaching his hair at some point. The memory of seeing himself in the mirror with dark hair caused him to glance at the mirror over the dresser, which had been Buffy's only a few months earlier; the whole room had originally been Buffy's and having her there next to him just felt right.

Realizing that he should probably wake her up, Spike reached over, placing his hand on the Slayer's shoulder and shook her gently, "Wakey, wakey, Slayer." He knew the dangers of waking a Slayer in the middle of the night, but he was more than prepared to defend himself if she suddenly attacked him, not that he thought that would happen; after all, she wasn't Faith.

"I was having a baby, Spike." She turned and scooted closer to him, burying her eyes in his chest. She just wasn't ready to look at him. This was so awkward. "It was a stupid idea. Sorry, can't slay demons for nine months. That wouldn't work so well." Her voice was still sad even though she was trying to talk her way through it. She had wanted it to be true. They had a nice life for a week and she had been very happy about it. That was what 'normal' felt like.

Spike knew that there were Slayers who had, had children; not many, but they had existed. Of course most Slayers had died early on, but so far not only was Buffy the longest living, but also the exception to the rule, "Love, do you know what we have in common? Besides being bloody badasses, that is." He wrapped his arm around her as he spoke, "Neither of us is the textbook definition of what we are. If we went along with that those dusty tomes say then we would have killed each other years ago." If there was one thing Spike was good at, it was talking sense into Buffy when she got into a funk like this; after all, he had inspired her to go kick The First's ass instead of holding up in an empty house like she'd originally wanted to, "And in case you haven't noticed, there are more than enough goody goods around here, so if at any time you had to take some time off from slaying, the world wouldn't end." Spike knew better then to believe that what had happened over the last two weeks was going to be their definite future; he had been in Colligo too long to believe so blindly, but he knew what it was like after the first big to do from Asaph and right now Buffy was going through that and he was the only one there who could help her through it.

Buffy laughed a little and put her arms around Spike. There were times when he was good for her. She didn't allow herself to think that until she watched him burn, but it was better late than never. "I don't really want to give up being a badass, but I do still want a normal life now and then, even if I would get bored."

She had used Spike so many times to make herself feel better, not really giving him anything but sex. It was different now, even if she still wanted him to make her feel better, or at least take away the sting of Asaph's little game. She tipped her head up and kissed him.

"If anyone deserves a normal life, love, it's you." Buffy hadn't been a normal teenager and considering how many times she'd saved the world, Spike was pretty sure that she deserved some down time every once in a while and now was one of those times. "There are bloody superheroes here, after all. If another Apocalypse presents itself, I'm sure they'll be able to handle it." Not to mention, there were magic users and other sorts in town, who could handle it.

As much as Spike had enjoyed the sex, deep down, Spike had known that Buffy was only using him, knowing that she could easily take advantage of his feelings for her. He didn't doubt that she'd felt something for him, but it certainly hadn't been love. Now though, things were different and it was obvious that Buffy's feelings had changed. Spike cupped her cheek as he kissed her back, sliding his hand back, into her hair.

"I don't know if I want it to be completely normal. I think I would get bored if I didn't break a few nails when I'm staking a demon." She had accepted that normal would never exist. Most girls her age didn't realize vampires were even real. The real freaks didn't really hang out at the mall. Watchers would never approach them and they would just live like every other girl out there.

Their relationship had changed so much, and it really did take losing him to realize how she felt about him. She had denied it for a long time, and she had used him. She even denied being attracted to him most of the time. It took watching him burning up for it to sink in. As she watched him leave this crazy world, all she had wanted was for him to come back. "If you keep being so sweet to me, I might have to start calling you William," she teased between kisses.

"You're right. I don't think you could do normal." Spike smirked, fingers still in her hair as he quirked a brow at her then leaned in to kiss her again, savoring the taste and feel of her lips, which he'd been denied for months thanks to bloody Morgan Freeman. It was a short kiss and he couldn't help but laugh at what she said next, which caused him to shrug his shoulders, "Might not mind it so much coming from you. With the exception of when you broke things off, no one has called me William in a bloody long time. Maybe a few demons, oh and Dru on occasion, but you saying it wouldn't be so bad." He never thought he'd actually let someone call him William again when they weren't using it to mock him, but Buffy made him feel like less of a monster and he liked that.

"Hi, I'm Buffy, and I'm a slayer, and this is my vampire boyfriend. Normal is definitely out." She laughed, nipping at him. Their relationship had gotten so much better, especially now that she just let it happen. She didn't try to have the perpetual argument of why she shouldn't be with him at all.

"When you are sweet, William might work for you. I don't think it works for the hair so much, but it sounds good." Spike had come around as the bad guy, with a tough name. William didn't have any negative connotations to it, not that she still thought of Spike as bad. William was almost a symbol that his transition to a hero had been complete. "I could have even more fun and call you Billy."

"And just how normal was your pre-Slayer life?" Spike chuckled, quirking a brow at Buffy as he moved to lay back down, dragging Buffy down with him so that she was against his side, his arm around her shoulders. He knew that she'd been a Cheerleader and that her parents had gotten divorced around the time that she'd been chosen, but other than that he really didn't know all the details of Buffy's life before she came to Sunnydale, which actually surprised him a little.

Spike shook his head as she suggested Billy, "Only Johnny Boy is allowed to call me that." He knew that Constantine's reasons were mostly because of his resemblance to Billy Idol, which was the main reason Spike hated when anyone else called him that, but for some reason when Constantine called him that he didn't mind and he wasn't entirely sure why.

"You already know. I had friends who were normal, I was a cheerleader, I went to parties, and all that. I didn't think vampires were real, and zombies were out of the question. After school we would head to the mall for smoothies, and shopping. We talked about boys and shoes, and I do love gossip, or I did. I would have won prom queen eventually, until I gave up perfect nails for daggers." Her life was simply normal, and when she thought about it, she missed what it could have been. She wouldn't trade the people that she had met on the way now for anything, especially the vampire next to her. "I didn't ever see myself with a vampire, but now it makes so much sense." She ran her hand over his chest, settling down next to him.

"I should be able to call you whatever I want, from Billy, to Willy, blood sucker, vampire, to blondie." She hadn't really spent time with John, even if he seemed to take the place of Spike's bff.

"And I didn't see myself settling down with a Slayer, so we're in the same book." Never in a million years had Spike thought that he'd rather cuddle up with a Slayer as opposed to killing one, but Buffy was different in so many ways from all the past Slayers, so it really wasn't that much of a surprise that she would have changed his entire way of living. Sure, they had started out as enemies and all Spike had wanted to do when he'd heard about her was add her to his scoreboard of Slayers he'd killed, but upon meeting her, he'd quickly realized that killing her was not going to be an easy task and other than Nikki Wood, he had never met a Slayer who could actually give him a run for his money. Once Angelus had been thrown into the mix and he'd been chipped, everything was different. Not being able to hurt Buffy or any other humans had changed him and brought the humanity that he still possessed further to the forefront. And honestly, he wasn't complaining. Spike had always appeared to possess more humanity than Angelus, Darla and Dru and it had often gotten him mocked.

"Do not. I repeat, do not sodding call me Blondie Bear. Surprised I didn't just stake Harmony after hearing that a dozen bloody times a day." He still wasn't exactly sure why he'd hooked up with Harmony. She had been utterly annoying and the only good thing about that part of his life had been the sex. "And Willy is just wrong. Thought you were better than that, Slayer."

"Harmony? Did you really have to bring that up? We are in bed," Buffy replied, rolling her eyes. She wouldn't have minded taking down Harmony at all. If the girl showed up there, she had could do it. It certainly hadn't bothered her when Harmony left Sunnydale. "Blondie-Bear is definitely out, but I might settle for Willie."

She sat up, stretching. "So we aren't married, and we are back with the great Morgan Freeman leading the way. Let's get breakfast." Back to business, leaving the fantasy behind, she tried to wash away the Harmony annoyance. It was hard to remember that time when she would have said that she didn't care. He could go and do what he wanted. At least he wouldn't be obsessed with her. Those days were gone.

"I need a shower." She looked back at Spike and grabbed a robe.
