WHO: Owen Harper & Cordelia Chase
WHAT: Camera, crossbow, & potential murder
WHEN: After this
WHERE: Cordy & Owen's flat
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In Progress

Owen hadn't taken Cordelia seriously when she said she was going to kill him. Why would he, really, when murder, when he'd last checked, was still very much illegal, and the police around here only tended to look the other way when it was non-local murdering local. As angry as she might have been for what he considered to be little more than a bad, possibly poorly executed joke, death was definitely not a serious result of that rage. Being shaved bald, on the other hand.

Having prepared himself for a late night vigil in order to protect his precious hair with a venti latte on his way home from work, Owen had counted himself lucky to be able to avoid the major of the trouble had seemed to insist on popping up to and from places anymore. But the second that he opened the door to his flat, Owen realized just why he'd avoided the majority of the trouble on the way home.

It was because all knowing Asaph had realized just how much of a shitstorm he'd created himself and didn't want to get in the way of it blowing all over him.

Holding up his hands defensively, Owen stared at Cordelia, posed across the room, crossbow pointed at him and look of sheer determination on her face, as he tried not to lose it. "I promise you," Owen said, the quip coming out mostly because of the nerves gathered in his gut, "but I'm more than useless with a hole in my chest. Ask anyone that worked with me."

If Cordelia heard what Owen had to say for why she shouldn't shoot him where he stood, she gave no outward indication. She merely continued to stare, her crossbow steady and aimed directly at him. However, while externally she was ridiculously calm and collected, internally she was positively livid. She couldn't even remember the last time she had been this angry. Or this embarrassed. Which only served to make her even angrier, the more she thought about it.

How dare he post a video like that of her for everyone to see. How dare he take a moment of complete vulnerability on her part and use it in the ridiculous roommate ware that they had going on. Never would she have imagined he was capable of such a thing and never would she have even dreamed of doing much the same to him.

And okay. So she freely admitted that she had taken pictures of him while asleep and covered in his many and assorted beauty products. But that was completely different, in her mind, if only because she had asked him for help and still he'd used her moment of completely vulnerability to his advantage. As far as Cordelia was concerned, that was hitting a new level of low and, although part of her knew that she wasn't going to really shoot him, the urge to do it and let consequences be damned was definitely a lot stronger than it had been when he'd gotten back at her in various other ways.

Of course, just because she knew she probably wasn't going to kill him where he stood didn't mean she had to let him know that much. So she continued to stare at him, unblinking and certainly unmoving, for several long seconds after he'd spoken. Then, finally, she arched an eyebrow ever so slightly before addressing him in a tone that was equal parts flat and dismissive while still having just enough edge to it to make it obvious how very angry she was.

"And I should care how useful you are because why, exactly?"

She didn't even give him a chance to respond to that before tacking on a pointed, "It's not like you're all that useful to me now, Harper. And something tells me that shooting you dead would do wonders for my mood." Her finger hovered over the trigger of her crossbow as she brought it up a little higher, tucking it against her shoulder and staring down the length of it to ensure she had the best shot possible in her sights.

"So," she tacked casually, "any last words?" She paused for half a second. "Here's a hint. They better start with 'I'm' and end with 'sorry' if you have any chance of getting out of this in one piece."

Owen wasn't really sorry. While he sort of understood why she was upset, he still considered his actions pretty much on par with the moves that she'd made over the course of having to live with one another. But since it was rather obvious that neither of them wanted to be the one to give in first and leave, Owen honestly would not put it past her to actually shoot him with that crossbow and watching him bleed out on the floor. So he did the only thing he really had the option to.

"Look! I'm sorry, all right? I didn't think you'd end up with your panties in such a bunch over it," He said, turning his hands outward as he shrugged. "So let's just put it behind us, put down the projectile weapon, and move on. Whatcha say?"

Inching carefully away from the door as he said that and moving slowly into the flat to try and hopefully get himself armed as well should she decide not to call it a truce, Owen shifted over to where he'd left his gun holster hanging only to find it conspicuously absent. So, she'd planned and prepared this to the point that he wouldn't even have the means to defend himself? Very not good.

"We can be adults about this, can't we, Chase?" Owen asked again, offering her a sheepish smile. "I've made some mistakes. You've made some mistakes. There's no sense to add homicide onto that list. Besides, you have to admit, it all was rather amusing to watch, really."
