Gabriel was still adjusting to the whole 'going to be a father' thing. Particularly to the 'going to be a father to a half-angel child who would never be anything approaching normal' thing. He had never really considered the possibility before, mostly because he'd never had a relationship that lasted and, he supposed, on some level he'd always subconsciously willed against it. But things were different now. He was happy with Jade and settled down, or as settled as he would ever get. And, in a general sense at least, he liked kids. Kids were fun. And they didn't lie or pretend to be anything they weren't, or do any of the multitude of things that really annoyed him about adults. Mostly, he was just worried about screwing up. He tended to do that a lot, the screwing up thing, and he didn't want to do that now. But he had Jade with him, and she at least wouldn't screw up. So, with approximately one and a quarter responsible adults between them, they'd probably manage.
If Jade didn't kill him first. That was a very real possibility, Jade killing him because he'd knocked her up and now she was having a mutant baby that rushed through pregnancy like a bull through Pamplona. Still, he could handle it. Probably. Maybe. Okay, he was totally screwed. Few people scared him, but Jade was one. Because she was scary. And there was always the possibility that she would see sense and realize there was every chance she could do better than a manchild archangel. He frowned. He really didn't like that. Clearly, he'd just have to convince her he was useful to keep around, even if he did do stupid and insane things a lot.
"Hey, Jade," he said, poking his head into the living room where she was relaxing and enjoying the break from Adam. Not that Adam was a bad kid, but he was an antichrist and they could be a handful. Today though, he was out playing with dog. "Can I get you anything, sweetcheeks?" He didn't come all the way into the room, worried she might throw a shoe at his head or something. "Ice cream? Tea? A kitten?" He wasn't sure what she might like.
