WHO: River Song Melody Pond, the Master, and Rose Tyler
WHAT: Melody and the Master decide to have some fun. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
WHEN: Fifteen minutes after this.
WHERE: The Grand Library → ??
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
WARNINGS: May contain somewhat graphic descriptions of various levels of torture, language, and other things that can be squick-worthy and are not for the faint of heart. You've been warned.

Boring. That was the only thought that Melody could properly entertain as she waited on the steps of the library for the man from the network to arrive. This place was positively, absolutely, dreadfully boring. Oh, sure, it seemed interesting enough to start with. Strange, new planet filled with people who really had no idea who she was or what she was capable of doing. A fresh start, so to speak. And there was the added bonus that the Doctor was apparently very much alive here, so at least she could occupy a bit of her time killing him again. However none of that was happening now. No, right now she was simply standing on the steps of a library and waiting.

Melody hated waiting. She really and truly did. It wasn't fun. It wasn't exciting. It wasn't at all stimulating by any stretch of the imagination. Yet for reasons she couldn't quite identify at the moment - or perhaps simply couldn't be bothered to think about - she was doing precisely that. But only for another two minutes. Then, the fifteen minute mark was up and she was going to seek out some fun without the man who had volunteered to participate with her. And, of course, she was going to shoot him for daring to stand her up, but that was really a given.

Not wanting to sour her mood in case he did arrive in the next two minutes, Melody purposefully made herself think not of what she'd do if her plans fell through but rather how grand the plans were going to be when they took place. It had been quite some time since she'd practice controlled violence on someone. Most of the time she really was a shoot first and to hell with the questions later sort of gal. Yet more and more she had found herself growing listless, yearning for something that would pose a bit of a challenge for her. With the Doctor dead and gone, however, there simply wasn't much that could manage it.

Until now. Now, she had the opportunity to have a bit of fun with others. It had just better live up to her expectations, she decided as the two minutes counted down until just one minute remained before the deadline. Otherwise, there was going to be hell to pay for everyone involved and anyone else unlucky enough to be caught in the middle of it.

"We could always just start with the flats. It's rather handy here, everyone being so close together and their rooms being name labeled," The Master said, a slight coo in his tone. "It makes everyone so simple to track down most of the time." As long as they were actually in their room. If they went to gather her only to find that she wasn't there, they'd just be tipping off anyone on her floor. But really, the Master was willing to wager that she was there. Where else would she be?

"And I really have been rather rude, haven't I? All this time, and I haven't even bothered to introduce myself," The Master said as they headed down the steps and towards the block of flats that housed most of the residents. "Granted, a lovely lady as smart as you can probably take a guess," He said, grinning, "and likely be right. But I'll save you the trouble. You can call me The Master."

He waited, glancing at her sideways, trying not to give away that he was intently waiting to see if the name sparked anything. She knew about the Doctor, and she had seemed to recognize the name of Rose. It would stand to reason, then, that he'd at least get something, some sort of recognition. He'd be really disappointed if he didn't.

Although she hadn't known for absolute certainty - how could she, after all - Melody had had an inkling as to who the man was. She hadn't wanted to assume however so she had kept the thought to herself. She was rather good at that when she chose to be, in fact. Granted it didn't seem that way most of the time what with how she spouted off things that most would prefer to keep quiet, but whenever it suited her to be mum rather than her normal, boisterous self, she was rather talented at doing so.

Still. Having the confirmation of who he was really did help and allowed her to finally react to the situation. It really was rather brilliant, when you thought about it. Particularly as she had it on fairly good authority that he was not someone she would ever be capable of meeting in person. Yet here he was, in all of his glory, right at her side and ready to have some much deserved fun.

Instantly her grin grew. "I did wonder," she admitted easily enough, seeing nothing wrong with confirming that yes, she was just as brilliant as she seemed to be. "But it seemed rather as unlikely as, well, just about everything else I've encountered in this place, I suppose." There was a brief pause, her mind already skipping ahead to how she would respond to whatever his answer would be to the question she was going to ask next.

"Now. Given your rather, unique we'll say, history with the Doctor, I really feel I should know. My decision to kill him once again isn't going to be a problem, yes?" For all intents and purposes, Melody sounded just as even-toned and pleasant as she had mere seconds before. But for anything paying close attention, there was a dangerous gleam in her eye that all but screamed it would really be in his best interest to give her an answer she wanted to hear.

That was a hell of a question, and one that he had the feeling that he wanted to answer very carefully. While the automatic response in his mind was that yes, he'd have a problem with it, particularly if she was planning on killing the Doctor with whom he'd actually managed to repair the broken bonds of their old friendship, he quashed that thought quickly and turned his attention to her with a slightly curious edge in his gaze, "Have you decided? Because that doesn't seem quite as fun," He said, slipping into an edge of a pout. "We're really so durable when you do it properly. And he's still got two regenerations left. Plenty of time to play."

Besides, if she was referring to the other Doctor that was here, the Master didn't have any issue with that. No sense in denying her her fun outright when he might be getting ahead of himself in what she was thinking as it was.

"And if it was unlikely because of the whole...being dead thing, death has always been more of a transitory inconvenience to me than a permanent state."

Rose missed all aspects of travelling and one of the odder things she missed was the running. Constant running that made her adrenalin pound through her long after they were safe. It was addictive without a doubt and like all addictions it was hard to let go, even after two years of being stuck in Colligo. Jogging didn't exactly give her the same rush but she still managed to feel a little bit of it. And it did get her blood pumping so that was something.

She had left her iPod in the house but that didn't matter so much. As much as she enjoyed something to listen to when jogging it wasn't exactly necessary. She stopped for a minute for a drink and out the corner of her eye noticed River. Normally she wouldn't mind going up to her but when she saw who she was with Rose decided it was best if she just kept going.

But why should she be pushed away from talking to someone just because of who they were with at that moment? Then again it wasn't just anyone. So she screwed on the bottle top and started to jog again, deciding just to jog past them. She would explain to River later why she had done that.

The Master had been getting ready to explain all of the ingenious plans which had allowed him to out maneuver death for so many centuries when a flash of blond hair happened to catch his eye. Well, well, wasn't that handy? He really did love prey that just wandered aimlessly into a trap rather than having to be hunted or chased down. While the temptation to take her down himself was rather great, it wouldn't have exactly been fair. This River was unlikely to recognize Rose off hand. Aiming for her simply because he happened to have an advantage in that area would have been petty and childish. And while the Master was rather good at petty and childish, he decided that he'd take the moral high road for once.

At least, as moral a high road as you could take when you were pointing someone out for a good maiming.

"Well, would you look at that," The Master cooed, leaning over to River and raising a hand to point at Rose. "Just who we're looking for."

He was sure she could take it from here.

Well then. Wasn't this rather convenient? Melody's smile grew ever so slightly and a calculating gleam shone in her eyes as she studied Rose for a moment. There was the girl they were after, jogging by as though being served up on a proverbial platter. Oh but she did like it when a good plan came together.

Of course, before the plan could come fully together, they first had to actually catch the girl. Really though, Melody wasn't worried about that. It was always easy to trap someone when they weren't expecting it and, although the blonde looked a bit on edge and seemed to be purposefully avoiding them, she wasn't running as though she thought her life was in danger. That made things rather simple. So simple, in fact, that Melody didn't even have to waste very much effort nor put a whole lot of thought behind what to do.

She simply pulled her gun from its holster, slid it to a stun setting, took aim, and fired. As Rose collapsed to the ground in a heap, Melody re-holstered her weapon and casually strolled to where her victim was lying on the ground. "Tsk, tsk, tsk," she murmured, "you really should be more careful. The streets aren't safe at all right now, dear." Bending over Rose's pron form, meeting the blonde's gaze, Melody suddenly grinned broadly.

"Stings, doesn't it? I modified it myself, you know. Made the setting just low enough to cause temporary paralysis in the limbs while making absolutely certain you don't lose consciousness." Grasping Rose by an arm, Melody effortlessly heaved her off the ground and, sliding an arm around her waist, kept her upright. "Of course," she added casually as though she wasn't manhandling the woman about like a sack of potatoes, "it wears off after ten minutes or so, but that should really be the least of your concerns at the moment. We've much worse things in store for you than this." With a pause, she brought her mouth close to Rose's ear and murmured softly, "Oh, and while I realize you can still speak, I wouldn't suggest screaming if I were you. I'd hate to have to remove that tongue of yours without proper equipment. It'd be rather messy and would make me quite cross."

Quickly her attention snapped back to the Master, grin still in place. "All set!" she exclaimed, shaking Rose ever so slightly for emphasis. "Where to?"

Rose had a bad feeling about this. A very bad feeling. And yet it was only going forward or turning around and heading back that were there as options and she did not think turning back was a good idea. She just didn't know why she felt a little off about this. Why she felt that feeling she experienced a lot when travelling, that something was about to happen.

But then something hit her and she cried out, falling to the floor. But she couldn't get up. No matter how hard she tried she just could not move. Her arms and legs were just frozen and soon she felt herself being lifted. When she heard River speak she instantly felt very confused and a little upset about the woman turning on her. She knew they had their moments due to Rose's childish jealousy but she had apologised. The mention of the stinging made her not able to stop herself from focusing on other things and the pain came to the front of her mind for a moment. But she pushed it away. She had to focus on getting out of this.

"I don't understand," she muttered, the confusion she felt so clear in her tone. "Why are you doing this?"

The Master. Had he done something to her, made her work against friends? They hadn't spoken much but she liked to think she was her friend anyway given the conversations they had shared. He had to be behind it, that was the only thing that made sense.

"River what has he done to you?" Yeah Rose, questioning the woman who was hurting you whilst the person you were accusing of being behind it all was with her. How smart that was.

"I suppose I should be flattered," The Master said in response to Rose's question, a hint of amusement in his tone as he spared a glance over at River, "that you have that much faith in my abilities to think that I could be responsible for this. But, then again, what other boogeymen do you really have to fall back on in this situation?" The Master asked, a wicked grin spreading across his features as he turned his attention to this River, his mind ticking quietly over potential locations before settling on the most obvious and yet the most available.

"The Warehouse District has plenty of empty buildings," The Master said. "I'm sure we could find an abandoned slaughterhouse with the greatest of ease where we'll have plenty of makeshift tools at hand in case we get bored with doing the same thing over and over," He said with an amount of sheer delight in his eyes that would have set the blood of any person with even so much as half of a conscience running cold. "And the meat hooks would make lovely places for storage once we're done with one."

Granted, it might give them plenty of room to scream and fuss without being heard, but it would also be the first place anyone would check should a large number of people start going missing. Then again. That might not be entirely a bad thing. It would give him plenty of time to decide exactly how and when to get into this River's way should the Doctor decide to throw himself in and put a stop to this.
