Who: Cas and Jade.
What: Meeting back up.
Where: The steps of the library.
When: Right after this.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Cas was surprised by just how glad he was to see Jade again. That wasn't to say that he hadn't expected to be happy if she returned to the city, and he had missed her horribly when she was gone, but the intensity of the emotion still surprised him. Cas wasn't an overly emotional person, and even less so as an angel. Emotions were squirmy things that left him confused more often than not. He was good with ignoring them for the most part, and it served him well. But he was thrilled, more than thrilled, to have his sister back in the city. Apart from Balthazar, and his reality's Gabriel, he had little use for his siblings. Jade was one of the few exceptions, and the one member of his family who truly understood him. So, of course, he left Dean and Parker to their sexy reconciliation (not that they knew they were going to have a sexy reconciliation, but sometimes being an angel had its perks) and headed to the library to meet his sister.

He appeared next to her, noting immediately that she looked different. It took a moment to register, then he realized what it was. She was human again. Human and back on the drugs that had kept her a prisoner before. He had known of course, but there was a difference between knowing and seeing first hand. He'd gotten used to Jade with her Grace back and he felt an ache at the loss of connection, as well as a strange sense of jealousy. It wasn't over the drugs, that was firmly in his past, but he missed being human. He didn't want to live forever and lose Parker and Dean and others. He didn't want to have a heavenly duty. He missed the freedom of humanity. It was something he'd thought on a lot since making his deal with Death. Was it right for him to serve God in this way if it was for the wrong reasons? He shook his head, casting the thoughts aside for later. That wasn't why he was here. He was here to talk to Jade. "Hey, sis," he said, giving her a little wave. He meant it in a different way than other angels did. It wasn't just lip-service. Jade really had been family to him here.

During the time she was in the city before, Jade had come to terms with a great deal of her past. She had gotten over her addiction to the drugs that had made Purgatory at least a touch bearable, had made connections and friendships, and had even taken back her Grace and become Amitiel again. Then she had found herself back in Purgatory and everything that had happened in Colligo had seemed like little more than a barely remembered dream. She had convinced herself that's exactly what it was, too, finding it wholly impossible to cope with her situation there otherwise.

Now, though, she was back in the city that shouldn't exist and yet somehow did. And although a part of her still thought this was simply some sort of hallucination, that any minute now she would wake back up in that room with Balan and fighting to stop an assault she knew that she likely wouldn't survive, she still had to admit that she was grateful for the break in what had become her reality for two long years.

The stupor she'd been in upon arriving was finally starting to wear off when Cas appeared. There was still a haze over everything and her face was bruised and swollen from the attack she had been in the middle of before arriving in the library, but she was able to sit up on her own accord and had even managed to shut down her PDA so she could focus all of her attention on her brother. He was one of the only angels that she was okay with still calling a sibling, having bonded with him before over their mutual lack of wings. He still had his wings though, she noted when he arrived, and idly she wondered if things would stay the same between them because of that fact. She didn't say as much though, instead simply offering him a small wave and a half-smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

Sitting on the top of the stairs, her legs drawn up to her chest, Jade slowly straightened up a bit. "Hey," she replied, the word coming out as little more than a sigh. Her gaze slid out to the city, the aches in her body and the bruising along one side of her face all but forgotten for a moment as she mused quietly, "I keep wondering if this place is real or not. My senses say it is but," she scoffed slightly and shook her head, "I know better than to trust in those, these days."

Cas sat down next to Jade without comment, leaning back on his elbows. Overall it was a nice day, what with the noticeable lack of hell god in the city. It was always nice when people weren't getting murdered all over the place, just a personal preference of his. Pulling out a pack of cigarettes, he lit one and then held the pack out to Jade to take one if she wanted. Smoking was something he'd never quite given up, even after his grace had been restored. It gave him hope that maybe he wasn't losing himself completely to the being he had become. Some days, though, he really wondered. Still, at the moment he was far more concerned with the woman next to him. Jade had been through so much, and it seemed unfair that she should be sent back home and then brought here again with all her problems once more weighing her down. The least Asaph could have done was let her keep the progress she had made, even if she didn't become an angel again. Honestly, he preferred Jade to Amitiel. More honestly, he preferred human!him to angel!him.

"Senses lie," he agreed with a slight nod. He was quiet for a moment considering the situation. "What about me? I say it's real. Do you trust me?" It might have been a loaded question for some, but this wasn't a test or anything like that. He honestly wouldn't be offended in the slightest if she said no. He had never lied to her, not that he could recall, but her experiences probably made it as hard for her to trust people as his did for him. Still, he kind of hoped she trusted him. It would be nice. But the conversation was getting heavy and he wasn't sure how he felt about that so early. "John Constantine is in town," he said idly, looking up at the sky and taking a drag from his cigarette. "So glad I changed my wardrobe. I wonder if other-me even realizes he's copying a comic book character. Then again, he has started ditching the trenchcoat now and then."

Jade didn't even blink when Cas lit up a cigarette. To some it might seem a bit off, him smoking while being an angel, but to Jade it was just... Cas. The same Cas that he had been since the minute she'd 'met' him in this place the first time around. The same one who had gone through withdrawals with her when they had decided it was time to stop using drugs. The same one who had been more than willing to throw down against anyone, anywhere, no matter how much stronger they might be, just to defend her. Even with his Grace back, he was still just Cas and she doubted anything he would ever say or do could change that in her mind.

Taking a cigarette with a small smile of thanks, she thought about his question while lighting the smoke and taking a long drag from it. As she exhaled, she sighed and cast a sideways glance at him. "I trust you," she admitted quietly, "but you could just as easily be a hallucination as well." It certainly wouldn't be the first time she had imagined someone from Above - anyone, really - showing up and being her friend despite the mess she'd made of things. Not wanting to dwell on such things, at least not while still coming out of a drug-induced stupor, she fell silent again only to snort in amusement at what he said next.

"I wonder if John Constantine realises he has someone copying his look," she remarked with a faint grin and another drag off her cigarette. She cast a glance at Cas, nudging him lightly if only to ensure the mood stayed that way for just a bit longer as well. "So do I have to ask or are you going to tell me what you've been up to since I've been gone?"

Cas smiled softly when Jade admitted she trusted him, and he wasn't remotely offended at the suggestion that he could be a hallucination. In fact, he just laughed and gave a little shrug. "I'd like to think if I were a hallucination, I'd be taller," he said thoughtfully, "or have a really awesome moustache. Or a hat. Come on, Jade. Be more inventive with your hallucinations." It was his unique way of pointing out that the idea of him being a hallucination was just silly. Well, not in a general sense, but he knew he personally wasn't a hallucination. He'd like to think someone would have told him by then that he was a hallucination. Now he was getting completely off track.

"He probably doesn't give a fuck," he said, taking a drag of his cigarette and grinning easily. "That's how he rolls, right? All grumpy british not-giving-a-fuck and whatnot." He paused a moment, considering something. "Now I'm picturing ickle-me going blond and that's just an awkward mental image. Blond really isn't a good look for us. I'll keep that in mind in the future." Not that he would ever consider dying his hair. Parker and Dean would never let him live it down, and Crowley would give him awkward smirky looks. "I'm rambling again, aren't I?" It was a bad habit that he'd never really seen fit to break. Really, there were worse habits to have, and he'd broken several of those in the past.

"What I've been up to?" he asked, cocking his head to the side thoughtfully. "Well...been an angel and stuff...which is about as thrilling as you might expect. Kind of doing the threesome thing with Dean and Parker. It's weird sometimes but it works for us. Tessa really doesn't like me, but she's moved past passive-aggressiveness and on to snark, so progress! Mom's back in town, which is good, because if it had been Chuck, I'd have punched him again. I like girl-God. She's pretty chill. I'm still running the center, and that's going well. You're welcome to have your old job back." He paused. "Oh! Dean went all crazy and stabbed Jack the Ripper a couple months back. His daughter got pretty pissed about that. Did you know Jack the Ripper has a vampire daughter?" He glanced over at her. "Oh, and I've missed you a lot."
