WHO: John Gilbert and Glory
WHAT: A random run-in yields tragic results.
WHEN: Mid-morning.
WHERE: The park
RATING: PGish (mildly disturbing imagery and a few naughty words)
STATUS: COMPLETE

Glory was not having a good day. She still couldn't find her Key, the brains she'd been eating just weren't sustaining her like they had in the other reality she'd been trapped in before this one, and she had even broken the heel on her favorite pair of stilettos thanks to one of her stupid, scabby minions causing her to lose her temper before she'd even had her first brain for the day. In short, the Hell God was in quite a mood as she made her way to a section of the city she'd yet to visit in the hopes of finding a decent meal for a change and maybe, just maybe, a clue to where her Key was hiding.

The park wasn't overly busy this time of day as it was past time for most people to be at work yet before lunchtime. However there were enough that Glory could take her pick of potential meals as she meandered down one of the pathways. So she didn't just grab the first person she spotted but instead bid her time for a little while in the search of someone who might prove more filling than her earlier meals had been. Then, just before she reached a fork in the path where she would have to decide between venturing back into the woods or out of the park, she finally spotted someone with potential.

A non-local - she could just tell by looking at him that he definitely wasn't a Colligo native - stood a much better chance of knowing something about her Key, which meant no matter what this guy was going to talk to her. However with any luck he would turn out to be a real person and not one of the pre-programmed pod people that made up the majority of the city. If he were real, in that sense at least, the meal would last as long as it was supposed to. Which meant dear old Ben would stay trapped for that much longer and give her even more of an opportunity to locate her Key and blow out the walls of reality for an one-way ticket back home.

Her target in sight, there was a confidence in her step as she made her way directly toward him. She had a slight smile on her face, eyes shining with the faintest touches of insanity. "Hey you," she said as she drew closer. When another man turned toward her and began to smile, she rolled her eyes. "Not you," she groused, shoving him out of her way. As he sailed through the air a good twenty feet or so, Glory reached the man she had been speaking to originally. She stopped directly in front of him, looking him up and down slowly. Her lips twisted into a positively dangerous smirk as she finally met his gaze.

"You're not from around here, are ya?"

Ah, the sweet smell of fear, how Glory did so love it. Not that she could actually smell fear. She wasn't some kind of wild animal, for crying out loud. However she had more than enough experience in recognizing it in the faces of all of those she'd tormented and slaughtered since the dawning of time and she could easily recognize it on the man standing in front of her now. That was good, in her opinion. The smart ones were always afraid. The slower ones... not so much.

"Because," she replied when he'd answered her, "I've lost something of mine. Well, it was stolen from me, really, but that's beside the point. My point is, it's here, somewhere in this city, and these locals have been no help in finding it. So I decided to try my luck with the mortals that aren't from around here. You know, see if maybe they're the ones deliberately trying to keep me from going home. Something like that. And you, my lucky man, are the one I decided to start with." Her smile still in place, Glory took another step toward him, one perfectly sculpted eyebrow arching a bit. When she spoke, her tone had gone from almost friendly to low and ominous.

"I would really suggest telling me what I want to know," she said in a way that made it clear she wasn't suggesting at all. "Starting with a girl with long brown hair. Kid sister to the Slayer. Goes by Fawn or Joan or... something with letters in it. Whatever. Just tell me where she is and you can go right back to your pitiful existence. See? Easy."

This was a hell of a way to locate stolen property. Stopping random people on the street was rarely a very good way to recover missing items even if one was attempting to locate the thief rather than the item that was taken. The expression that crossed his features, sarcastically quizzical, was probably not the best move that he could have made in the face of someone who seemed unusually perky and dangerously determined, but it was a reflex for him when it came to people asking stupid questions.

"Do I look like the sort to be preoccupied with teenagers I don't know?" John asked, arching an eyebrow at the redhead with a hint of annoyance seeping into his tone. She really would have been better off looking for people that might actually know this girl that goes by something with letters than just nabbing some poor schmuck off the streets. "I don't know any teenagers by that description that go by a name that apparently has four letters in it. So, if you'll excuse me," John said as he made a move to step around the woman and continue on his way. He had a feeling he wouldn't get the chance.

One would just pray that she was supernatural in some capacity. That way, she'd kill him, be on her way, and then a few minutes later, he could come back and be on his.

There were a lot of things that Glory didn't like. Knock-off designer shoes, minions who didn't know how to properly grovel, and being stabbed in the back by fellow Hell Gods then banished to another realm entirely were all near the top of her list. As was taking things that didn't belong to her and insulting her fashion sense. But what really ticked her off, what made her do nothing short of see red, was being dismissed as though she was some sort of common mortal, of all things. Unfortunately for John, while Glory's temper was one to truly be wary of, she wasn't in a killing mood at the moment. And as he was clearly no longer useful to her in any information-giving capacity, she supposed he'd have to do for breakfast.

"Uh..." Glory stepped in front of him as he tried to move around her. "Where do you think you're going, exactly? I didn't say we were finished." She poked him in the chest, watching impassively as it knocked him back a few steps. Instantly, she was back in his face, this time placing a hand on his shoulder and, as though someone had flipped a switch, giving him an almost sweet smile.

"I mean, really, what's the rush? I'm sure you didn't mean to be incredibly insensitive to my situation, right?" Then her smile dropped into a hard look and she grabbed him by the front of his shirt, hauling him off his feet and dragging him toward her until their chests were practically touching and they were directly eye to eye. "Because I would hate," she snapped the word out between clenched teeth, "to have to hurt you. You're kinda cute, for an annoying human."

Releasing him, she absently fluffed some of her curls and exhaled slowly, clearly trying to regain her composure before she lost control entirely. "Now," she said calmly. "Why don't we try this again. There is a girl here who is not a girl at all. She is being protected by an annoying Slayer and I know she has posted to that stupid network thing warning people about me because, well, she might be annoying but she isn't stupid. But she does belong to me and I WANT." She stomped her foot and the ground shook violently. "HER." Another foot stomp and some of the locals who were trying to pass by while keeping a wide berth began to stumble. "BACK!"

John was quite used to being tossed around like a ragdoll. Damon had done it more than his share of times during their oh, so very brief association. But there was something distressingly different about this. For one, he didn't deserve this sort of treatment. Pretty much every time it had been inflicted upon him by the offending vampire, he had brought it on himself in some way. This? This just seemed the result of pent up frustrations being directed at the first available source. The second he was back on his feet, though, John took several steps back, trying to place from distance between himself and this crazy lady only to end up stumbling from the trembling of the earth.

"Hey, hey! Calm down!" He exclaimed, probably not helping his situation as he held up his hand. "I vaguely remember something like that coming up on the network, but like I said, I'm not the sort of guy that deals with teenagers he doesn't know. Nor am I really the sort of guy to pay much attention to teenagers I don't know. I have enough high school drama to last me a life time, and I don't need anyone else's."

The second he felt he could get a steady footing he lowered his hands, swallowing hard again as he looked over at the woman, "Have you tried the apartments? There are nameplates outside the rooms to tell you who's inside. If you can recall some semblance of the name of the girl you're looking for, it might cut down on the snagging random people off the street and yelling at them part of the search." And it might put him in a position where he could get away if she actually had another task to focus on.

Although Glory did not like being told what to do, she stopped her stomping when he started to speaking just in case he was going to tell her something useful. Unfortunately for him, that wasn't the case, but she did have to give him points for trying. Most wouldn't even have done that much.

"I can't get in the apartments, hello!" she snapped, although her tone had switched from angry to merely frustrated as she gave a huff of annoyance. "And my minions say all the nameplates are blank. It's that bitch witch pal of the Slayer's, I just know it." She huffed once again, her lower lip pulling down into a pitiful expression.

"I just want my Key!" she all but whined, tossed her head back and throwing her arms out and upward. Then her gaze snapped directly back to John and she gave a slight shrug.

"Oh well," she said with a perky smile once again. "Since you can't help me with that, I guess you'll just have to help me with another little problem." With speed much to fast for him to follow, she was in his face and had both her hands clasped firmly on his shoulders to keep him from trying to get away. "See, all that talking and walking and blah blah blah... it made me hungry. So... I'm going to eat your brain now."

She said the words as casually as if she were discussing the weather, fingers lightly trailing across his shoulder and up both sides of his neck until she was finally cupping his cheeks with her palms. "It's nothing personal," she assured him. "It's just really time these people realize that I am done playing around."

And with that, she slowly began to press her fingers against either side of his forehead, increasing the pressure until her fingertips were sliding through his skin and a white colored light began to seep slowly out.

Eat his brain. Eat his brain. John barely had time to really process that statement before there was a sudden searing brain inside his head, an agony that even dying hadn't brought in his before, and he was gritting his teeth together not to cry out. He was determined not to give her the satisfaction, to refuse to provide her with any delight in his torture, to deny her... what, exactly? As suddenly as it had set on, the pain was gone. Along with everything else. All of his worries, his fears, his pains, everything that had been set upon him when he'd entered the park was gone, and his mind was a blissful dull blank.

Of course, it was also void of everything else that could have made him who he was or even provided him with the capability to interact with the world around him to any coherent degree. The most complex thought he could manage at the moment was a babbled string of two words before everything fell apart, and he was left empty again.

Not that there was anything wrong with that. Nope. As far as he was concerned right now, this was the way it was, the way it had been, and the way it always would be.

Draining every last wonderful ounce of sanity from the man's head had certainly helped to lighten Glory's mood. When she was done she pulled her hands out sharply and took a step back, a positively brilliant smile upon her face. "There," she all but cooed, patting his cheek in an almost motherly way. "That's much better. Now sit."

She snapped her fingers and pointed to the nearest park bench. "And stay," she commanded. "Someone will come collect you soon enough."

Normally, of course, Glory could care less what happened to someone after she'd fed from them. They were little more than walking shells by the time she was finished and, short of being able to use them to see the Key in human form, they weren't good for much of anything beyond taking up space. However, this man wasn't a local here and was, in fact, the first non-local she'd fed on. So while she personally didn't give a damn if he ran out to play in traffic, she wanted to at least try to keep him alive long enough to serve as a living example to the others.

Not that she stuck around to make sure he followed her orders. No, with renewed energy allowing her full dominance over her human prison, she had far more important things to do. Like find her Key and get the hell out of here.

So with a slight waggle of her fingers to say goodbye, she began to make her way out of the park and back to where she was staying. It was time to send a little message to the do-gooders in this city. Both figuratively and literally.
