WHO: James Sirius and OPEN Miss Juno MacGuff
WHEN: Early afternoon
WHAT: Not-quite-brooding with this guitar.
WHERE: A bench at the park
RATINGS: Very low PG-13?
STATUS: Incomplete.

James tuned his guitar again; nearly oblivious to the sun beating down on his bowed, dark head, but rather absorbed by the instrument. He didn’t have to go to work to day and he was grateful for that. On most days James wasn’t the biggest fan of his job. Nevertheless, it was the only thing he was qualified for. It wasn’t as if a team for, let alone money behind, Quidditch. And while had a brilliant general aptitude for Charms, that didn’t necessarily make him capable for occupations where those skills could be applied - such as healing, construction, or interior design. For one, he wasn’t very into the specifics. For another, more important factor, he really didn’t have the attention span nor the patience for any of those things. His beside manner would be neglectful with a strong side of emotionally awkward and then touchy for the fact that he was made to be awkward. Doors would fall on people. And well …. actually he had a wonderful sense of color, so maybe interior design wouldn’t be a bad idea - except for some odd reason it reminded James a lot of school. Which as much as he loved Hogwarts? He hadn’t been a particular fan of school. So that was a no.

In truth, it would all end up being death by ceiling near a curtain. While that amusingly reminded James Sirius of the at-times-fascinating muggle game Clue, it certainly wouldn’t get him more muggle money. A bunk bed with some poor bloke named Bubba - he was rather certain of this as he’d seen it on Cops - but not any money. Leaving music as his best, read: only, option. One would think that he would be excited about this. Yet it solely served to irk him. Going from fronting and a tour with the Weird Sisters, going from having an entire band, to coffee shops with pimple-face automatons was a blow to the pride. And seeing as it is James Sirius Potter we’re talking about “blow to the pride” is an understatement - sort of like, elephants are heavy and hippogryffs fly. It wasn’t that he hated his job. The bars were rather fun, though he didn’t do them as much. There were times he became really excited about work. And there were times he felt opportunities stolen so keenly it was a miracle he didn’t hex walls in …. or through.

Those were times it just needed to be about the music. Just him, his guitar, and Elvis. Pat Donohue, as well.

Juno was brooding, a little. She was supposed to meet Sirius for a bike ride, but she managed to piss off her boyfriend for allegedly flirting with his brother, and now she was just out of sorts. Admittedly, conversation with Sirius did go downhill rather fast, but Regulus was extremely jealous and more than a little sensitive on the subject of his brother...

She sighed, and scuffed at the dirt with the toe of her shoes as she walked. She'd just have to come up with some ridiculously ass-kissing apology. Meanwhile, she was trying to think of what that might be, when she noticed James Sirius playing guitar.

On the one had, he had a guitar--she couldn't not notice that. On the other...well, she'd already dug herself a hole. It couldn't get any worse, could it.

"Hey, Jay," she called, wandering that way. "I didn't know you were a musician."

A reasonable person wouldn't have been offended by Juno's statement. However, James wasn't typically reasonable. Music was SO much a part of him it was a shock when people didn't just know. Didn't he look like a musician? However, with brooding being pushed aside and expectant pleasure over who had come to join him, any mild - irrational - irritation was gone at the blink of an eye. Juno was quite lucky that he liked her, really. Quite a lot - not in that way, of course, because she was a crazy bint who liked Regulus Black of all the people on this world and he had his eye on Molly - because she was funny. She was funny, terrifying, loyal, and intelligent. If she had red-hair, no one wouldn't have been able to convince him that she wasn't a Weasely.

So, his expression quickly turned into a boyishly sheepish grin and he gave a sheepish shrug. "Now you do. Care to sit?" He offered, scooting a bit over and moving his case. "I've been playing for forever, since before Hogwarts." He provided. She hadn't asked but he was definitely sharing.

"That's awesome," she said, claiming a corner of the bench--and happy that she no longer had a massive baby bump taking up space in her midsection. She could fit almost anywhere now.

"You know, I really should have known, you totally have the look." Yes. Of course he had the look. "You probably mentioned it before, and I just forgot--blame it on the pregnancy brain." She grinned her little grin at him, more than willing to listen to his tale. "So, do you like play gigs anywhere? I've thought about it, but I'm a little out of practice from not being able to reach around my stomach."

Well, if there was ever anything to immediately place her firmly back in James' good graces it would be that. A direct stroke to his ego. His grin is wide and instant. "Mostly at coffee shops. It's a long way away from what I did before Asaph brought me here but at least it pays rather decently." You know for a single twenty-one year old. So long as it fit his fashionable tendencies and filled his stomach, which is paycheck did, he was more than satisfied. Yes, it was without the fame but he was dealing with that. "It could have been we haven't talked about it." He said after a moment. "Because there is no way I would have forgotten that you played." His tone became more and more eager with each word, like a puppy being taunted by a bone. "Which instruments?"

Juno smiled. She knew they'd probably talked about siblings and such, but somehow she couldn't remember the subject of music ever having come up. Which was a shame, because he seemed pretty cool or a guy who was named after two people her boyfriend didn't like. Then again, Juno and her boyfriend didn't always agree.

"I had piano lessons when I was little, but I mostly rock the guitar now. We should totally jam sometime."

"The piano?" James' expression became amused but it wasn't mocking. He was still interested. Give him a few seconds and he could stream out lists of albums, artists, and songs that benefited from and/or rocked the piano. It wasn't for him. He had found it boring as hell when he had been younger but he didn't dismiss it as an instrument. Mostly. He still tended to find it boring as hell at times but he could appreciate it's, as well as those who played professionally, contributions to music. "Are you any good? Were you any good?" His eyes alight with teasing. "Electric?" He was just chock full of questions it seemed. "Yeah! I'd definitely love that. Just say when and where and I'm your bloke."

"Well, I like to think I was good at it," she said, "Me and Paulie--that would be the sperm donor--" She couldn't call him Caden's dad or father anymore because Sam held that position in title and in earnest now. "Used to have a band, with some friends from school, but we never really went anywhere with it. Never even gave ourselves a name. But yeah, my new one's electric. The guitar, not the boyfriend, though it was Regulus who bought me the guitar so he's got better taste than most people might think."

She grinned. James was like...her...with balls. Or maybe she was James with boobs. "I would say Saturday, but that's prom, so maybe next week? Friday after school, or something? Or pretty much any afternoon, once school lets out."
