WHO: James Sirius and OPEN Miss Juno MacGuff
WHEN: Early afternoon
WHAT: Not-quite-brooding with this guitar.
WHERE: A bench at the park
RATINGS: Very low PG-13?
STATUS: Incomplete.
James tuned his guitar again; nearly oblivious to the sun beating down on his bowed, dark head, but rather absorbed by the instrument. He didn’t have to go to work to day and he was grateful for that. On most days James wasn’t the biggest fan of his job. Nevertheless, it was the only thing he was qualified for. It wasn’t as if a team for, let alone money behind, Quidditch. And while had a brilliant general aptitude for Charms, that didn’t necessarily make him capable for occupations where those skills could be applied - such as healing, construction, or interior design. For one, he wasn’t very into the specifics. For another, more important factor, he really didn’t have the attention span nor the patience for any of those things. His beside manner would be neglectful with a strong side of emotionally awkward and then touchy for the fact that he was made to be awkward. Doors would fall on people. And well …. actually he had a wonderful sense of color, so maybe interior design wouldn’t be a bad idea - except for some odd reason it reminded James a lot of school. Which as much as he loved Hogwarts? He hadn’t been a particular fan of school. So that was a no.
In truth, it would all end up being death by ceiling near a curtain. While that amusingly reminded James Sirius of the at-times-fascinating muggle game Clue, it certainly wouldn’t get him more muggle money. A bunk bed with some poor bloke named Bubba - he was rather certain of this as he’d seen it on Cops - but not any money. Leaving music as his best, read: only, option. One would think that he would be excited about this. Yet it solely served to irk him. Going from fronting and a tour with the Weird Sisters, going from having an entire band, to coffee shops with pimple-face automatons was a blow to the pride. And seeing as it is James Sirius Potter we’re talking about “blow to the pride” is an understatement - sort of like, elephants are heavy and hippogryffs fly. It wasn’t that he hated his job. The bars were rather fun, though he didn’t do them as much. There were times he became really excited about work. And there were times he felt opportunities stolen so keenly it was a miracle he didn’t hex walls in …. or through.
Those were times it just needed to be about the music. Just him, his guitar, and Elvis. Pat Donohue, as well.
