Who: Rose and Sirius
Where: A coffee place near the park.
When: Morning, 24th March. After this.
What: Rose has Sirius' magic. Sirius does not approve of this development.
Rating/Status: Highish for swearing. Incomplete.

Sirius knew he was being stupid. Chances were he'd have his magic back in a couple of weeks at the most, and until then all he had to do was not set himself on fire, electrocute himself or get run over, and everything should be fine. But that didn't make it any better. The walk hadn't done much to cool him off, because he shouldn't have to bloody walk anywhere if he didn't want to. He could have taken his bike - when muggles touched it, the machine appeared perfectly normal, after all, so he could have ridden it at a normal speed with no chance of barrelling off into the sky. But the idea of that was so depressing he didn't think he could face it.

He arrived before Rose, buying their usual drinks from their usual shop and slumping down an outside table outside to wait for her. For the time of year, the weather was quite nice. It was sunny, and although there was a nip in the air, it was pleasant enough to be outside without a coat. Sirius sat and waited, chewing on his lip, one knee jiggling as he waited for his blonde friend to appear. He didn't like this. Not at all. Not one tiny, teeny bit. It was hard to describe, but he felt... weird. Really, really crap. Was this what Reg and Remus had felt like when they'd come back?

Sirius was pulled from his thoughts when he recognized the blonde suddenly standing close by, automatically clambering to his feet as she joined him. She didn't look any different, but he couldn't help staring at her cautiously, before pulling himself together and instead glancing at her hand. If he could just see his wand, he thought he might feel better. "Alright?"

Sirius nodded and helped himself to a cigarette, wedging it between his lips and going to light it, before suddenly remembering.

"Oh, shit it," he grumbled, keeping the roll of paper balancing on his bottom lip. He normally lit is cigarettes with a wandless, silent spell he'd picked up off Remus. But that was obviously out of the question now. Sirius sighed dejectedly once again. That was half the problem here - there were so many little things to get used to. Sirius glanced around until he spotted a stranger with a cigarette, and then excused himself to go beg a light off them. A minute later he returned to the table, cigarette lit, to take a sip of coffee.

"Have you spoken to anyone else?" he asked, before taking a drag on the cigarette and immediately feeling a bit better. Thank Merlin for addictive substances.

Rose really felt even more guilty when he was unable to light his cigarette. He never used a lighter in the time she had spent with him but never really took much note until now. He must use magic for it. She smiled as he excused himself, watching as he lit his cigarette before sitting with her, looking slightly calmer now.

"Just the Doctor. He's human now, so you can imagine how that's going. How is everyone, your lot from back home?"

She didn't want to dwell too much on the Doctor just now. She wasn't too sure how to feel about him being human, even if she had met a version of him who was technically her future when she got home and it was a strange experience.

She felt bad. Sirius could tell from the look on her face, and immediately got that uncomfortable, embarrassed feeling in the pit of his stomach that he always felt when people felt sorry for him. Sirius shifted in his seat. He didn't want her to feel guilty about anything. It wasn't her fault, after all. "Hey," he reached out with the hand not holding the cigarette, finding hers on the table and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Come on. It's not your fault. I don't... I don't blame you."

"Human?" Sirius raised an eyebrow. "Merlin. Don't let him drink or anything, will you?" He'd only met the Doctor a few times, but he'd always been such an... alien personality, he couldn't imagine how this was going to work out for Rose's other half. He shrugged, releasing her hand and going back to his coffee. "Remus is a werewolf again. Not in a way I understand, though. It must be from someone else's world. It's... difficult." Especially now I can't transform, he thought, but he didn't want to make Rose feel worse about all this so he bit his tongue.

"The others seem okay. Despite most of them randomly electrocuting themselves every few minutes."

She took his hand when he reached for it, looking up at him. She knew he didn't blame her, if he did she'd be slightly pissed off since his magic isn't something she could easily take from him. But to see him out of his comfort zone made her feel uneasy: no one liked to see that in someone they considered a best mate.

"I hadn't thought about that. I was more worried about the constant complaints over one heart, but he wont have the ability to not get drunk any more."

Part of her wanted to get him drunk now, but she didn't want to deal with the consequences. But when Sirius went on to explain what was going on for the people in his world, Rose's face went slightly more serious. Especially at the mention of Remus.

"Do you know who? If you knew it might be easier to handle."

"Doesn't make any difference that he only has one heart now, does it?" Sirius checked. "I mean, he doesn't need two any more." He didn't know much about Time Lords and all that business. Rose was probably the most confusing type of muggle - one mixed up with aliens. Perhaps that was why he liked her. But as far as he knew, no'one had had something taken from them they couldn't live without. It was uncomfortable, unpleasant at worst, but not the end of the world.

Not that he was any happier about it.

He shrugged. "I think Remus does. He knows a few werewolves around here. I'm not so sure. But I think it's more controlled, in a way, than it was when we were back at home. It's just... you know, he just got used to not having it. And I can't transform so I'm worried he'll hurt himself." Sirius' brow crumpled in a frown, then he shook himself out of his slump and gave Rose a tight smile. "It'll be fine. These things never last, do they? We'll be like this a couple of weeks, tops?"

"He can feel the difference. It's difficult for him. You try living over 900 years with two hearts then suddenly it's taken from you."

She was more than sympathetic about the Doctor's situation, even if some of the things he said about being human made her want to hit him over the back of the head. But she understood what was bothering him about it, this was completely new to him and it would be hard for him to deal with for a while.

She looked down as he spoke more about Remus, worried more and more for the other man. She knew that he had Srius help him for quite a while and it must be hard for him to do this alone. But when Sirius mention transforming himself, she looked up. He would know the look of determination in her eyes well enough, that there's little that could change her mind.

"I'll do it."

Sirius should have seen that coming. He knew Rose well enough to know she was completely barmy when it came to stuff like this, was a bit like him in that she'd go to any lengths to protect people. She was probably better than him, actually, because she didn't even know Remus all that well. And he appreciated the offer, he really did. But still. Sirius gave Rose a scathing look, eyebrows raised for long, silent moment before he allowed a slightly bitter smirk to curl at one corner of his mouth.

"Yeah," he replied, his voice painfully sarcastic. "Excellent. Then I can have a mental breakdown from the stress of worrying about both of you." He reached for his coffee, taking a much needed sip and placing it back down on the table between them. "I mean, thanks and everything. It's good of you. But there's no fucking way that's happening. Anyway," he shrugged, trying to make it look effortless. "You have an alien with heart withdrawal to look after."

"You don't have to worry about me, I've been in worse situations."

She had been. Being in a room with a werewolf, or at least guarding it to keep it from getting free, was hardly anything. Plus she had been in the presence of a werewolf before and survived to tell the tale.

Well she nearly didn't but that was another mater and she wasn't really going to tell him.

"So you'd rather he was alone? Sirius I'd be fine, and I'm sure the Doctor can last a little while without me."
