Who: James Potter, Regulus Black
Where: Their happy family home.
When: Morning of 21st February
What: Shouting and hexing an- oh, right, not that? huh.

Contrary to popular belief, James didn't want to provoke Sirius's twatty brother. He just wanted to ignore the currently-pathetic waste of space, but that was kind of impossible, given the stupid rules of this place. He was sitting at the table, waiting for Molly and Regulus to appear, and glaring at the currently-drunk waste of space that was Kreacher. He debated over whether he should throw his snitch at the useless muttering creature that wouldn't shut up about him being a 'blood traitor', but figured that he'd probably end up losing the snitch and there was no way he was going to deal with that.

"Can you just go back under whatever rock you were living under?" he snapped at the elf, followed by, "and leave that drink here!" only to be slightly amazed as the ugly thing actually did as he was told. There was a lot of muttering, sure, but the main thing was that he'd told it to do something, and it had. Brilliant!

He looked round at the sound of footsteps, hoping it would be Molly, but no. He couldn't have been that lucky. Still, it meant he didn't have to deal with both Regulus and the elf at the same time. Slumping forward in his seat, he propped his head up on one hand, and didn't look round while Sirius's brother sat in his seat and prepared for another game of "watching James and Molly eat" which was a stupid game, if you asked James. Lifting his wand from the table, he set about making the toaster work, getting the boxes of cereal out of the cupboards and boiling the water in the kettle. He could easily manage this part of breakfast, after all, and if Molly wanted to make anything more, the option was there for her. "Are you actually going to eat anything this time? Black?" he asked, really not expecting a reply, "or are you going to stare at all the food Molly's going to the bother of making for us and ignore it all like some ungrateful git?"

Regulus leveled a glare at James. The boy was an idiot of he thought, even for an instant, Regulus would accept food from him. He pushed the plate away without touching the toast. Then he dropped his hands to hide them under the table while he dug his fingernails into his palms, letting the pain of that be his focus. He'd given Molly his word to try to not make things worse than they already were by stirring things up with James - well as much as a promise as a nod to her request could convey.

"Other than to know I will not let that happen my health is none of your concern." It was hard keeping insults from riddling his answer.

James glared back at the older wizard in turn as he buttered his toast and took a bite out of it. "Much as I hate to admit it, it kind of is," he snapped, with his mouth full, "I like Molly, okay? And you acting like some sort of useless vampire victim isn't easy on her at all, you know? Personally, I couldn't care less if you lay down under six tonnes of centaur shit and never bothered your arse crawling back out, and I'm fairly certain you feel the same about me, but we're not the only people affected by this. Which you'd know if you pulled your head out of your own arse for long enough to notice."

His toast needed jam or marmalade, he thought, so while he spoke, he searched through all the jars he'd put on the table until he found what he wanted. "So you should eat. If only to give Molly one less thing to worry about, since I reckon she's been going a bit mental trying to sort things out between the two of us. And to stop that Juno girl coming after me if you do drop, since if you can't manage to eat, I can't see you managing to keep yourself going on spells and potions, and she's bound to blame me for that."

His toast was now decently slathered in jam, so he took another mouthful. He actually made decent toast. Who knew? He'd have to show Lily.

"Oh, you want something more than silence?" Regulus snapped this time, trying to cut off James before he continued, "Conversation? Because you and I both know that would be all for shit."

And there he went, dropping his end of the deal he'd made with Molly. He clenched his jaw and dug his finger nails in more, forcing his focus there and not on the insults and jabs James was directing at him. Well until James went there

"Don't bring Juno into this. She is sensible and it wouldn't be you she would go after if I landed myself in the Clinic aga-" He stopped himself before he spoke the word fully, giving James Potter any kind of ammunition would be, in the simplest terms, unwise. He finished that thought with a sharp look that said James wouldn't get more information on the subject from Regulus.

He brought his hands up to scrub at his face. He didn't have the mental acuity to go rounds with James at this moment. His brother considered backing down a sign of weakness, for Regulus it was strategic maneuvering.

"Contrary to what you might believe, Potter," he started again around his hands, and, as much as he hated it, with a bit more feeling in his tone than he wanted, "I am doing nothing with the intent of harming either you or Molly. I do eat when I am at work, I've already told Molly, I simply cannot do so here. The best I can do with this situation is to stay out of yours and hers way as much as possible. If you are so interested in easing things for Molly than you should leave me be as I am trying to do with you."
