Jo was conflicted, but trying very hard not to be. She wanted to tell herself that she could wait. She could handle being the 'other' woman in this bizarre triangle. Hell, she'd died; she could do this, right? But it was hard for her to be patient, and she honestly wasn't built to wait like that. Plus, she'd never been good at sharing.

But she cared too much about Gabriel to risk losing him, or risk making him angry. Plus, she knew he'd been in a rough place lately; like he said, she had helped him through it...as much as she could. Even though a part of her knew she could never fully understand what he was going through. Jo had been happy when Jade had returned, but things still felt weird to her. Especially when she didn't know where she stood.

All those thoughts were pushed aside as she dressed in boots, jeans, a white tank, a dark blue flannel shirt half-buttoned over it, and a jacket. Running an absent hand through her hair (she had never been the girly type who spent hours on it when she didn't need to), she headed out of her apartment after the text conversation with Gabriel, and made her way outside. Stepping into the late afternoon sunlight, she blinked a little, then glanced around to see if he was there yet.

"Well," he confessed, "I'm not used to needing anyone, or anything, but the Source of Light." Only...Elaine's presence didn't seem to shed much light for him beyond the fact that something was keeping him from draining himself as he'd done in purgatory, and he felt guilty for even harboring such doubts. "I guess that's what real faith is about."

"Neither am I, really. Before here....when it was just me and my mom, we needed each other, sure, but we could've gotten on by ourselves for a while." She paused for a moment, tilting her head. "It's weird...when I was younger, growing up in the Roadhouse, all I wanted was to get away from my mom, and be a Hunter like my dad. I guess things change." Jo squeezed his hand a second time. "For the better. And as for faith...I don't know much about it, but I know I've got it in the people that I love."

"You told me once that you get tired of managing the bar," he said, recalling their first conversation. "Have you thought any more about pursuing something different?"

She tilted her head, glancing down at the chocolate bouquet absently, and shook her head. "Not really, no...things have been pretty crazy since then. Plus, I...don't know what else I could do. I've only really been a hunter or worked in a saloon." Her shoulders lifted in a small shrug.

"I've only ever been the celestial pony express, for a lot longer than you've been a hunter," he quipped, his mouth turning up in a hint of a smirk. "I guess that makes two of us learning to adapt."

He put his arm around her shoulders and squeezed. "If you really find something that inspires you, I'm sure you'll find a way to make it happen. If not...I'm sure you'll find a way to make the most of where you are."
