WHO: Rose Tyler and Sirius Black
WHAT: Meeting in a bar
WHEN: August 4th, about 9pm
WHERE: Some random pub
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Rose really had to move from the bar. Yes. That would be a plan. Then she would not be currently sitting with three empty shot glasses and half of a pint of beer in front of her.It would take more than that to get her drunk but if she was honest she really didn't care. Though she probably should stop before she got too drunk. Wouldn't be able to get herself home otherwise. She could always write and 'If found' note on a napkin and shove it in her jacket pocket though, that was worth considering.

She rolled her eyes and shooed away yet another man in his late forties. Why did she attract the old men that weren't the Doctor? Perhaps she was only attractive to middle age men and not men in there 900's. Well that sucked. She lifted her pint and took another sip, licking her lips and glancing around as she did so. It was busy enough that she didn't care about being alone but not so busy that she had no choice but to sit on the seat and not move unless she wanted to lose said seat.

Not that she had plans to move anyway.

"Hey it might do, you never know!" She'd never been to the seventies. Seventies men could be fun. Only one way to find out after all and she wasn't going anywhere yet. Yet being the main word. She had to find out what he was like..Who was she kidding? He was gorgeous and that would make her ignore any flaws. Tonight anyway. If she wasn't tipsy and didn't have needs long ignored then she would walk away no matter how good looking a guy was.

His hand was firm and made her knees feel weak. Thank god she was sitting down because they would have gave way completely the moment she heard his name. Now she knew there were fictional and legendary characters dotted about but if this man was one of them she would not let him out her sight.

"As in Harry Potter's Sirius Black?" Sirius had to be one of the better characters in that book. Not that she'd read all of them, the movies however she had seen all of. "And how about...Scotch on the rocks? Or you can try the beer. The beer's good."

her smile fell when he questioned her, her shoulders dropping with a sigh. He just had to remind her that she was drowning sorrows right now, not on the pull.

"The usual. Bloke knows I love him, I kiss him, he responds...then avoids the subject like the plague."

Sirius groaned, rolling his eyes in a classically over-dramatic fashion. "One day I'll meet someone here who doesn't know more about my life than I do." He glanced at her, curious. So she knew. Everyone knew. About Wormtail, and James and Lily. About Azkaban and the hundred other things he had to look forward to on his return. It was hard enough for him to accept them, let alone with the whole population of this mental city being fully aware of it.

"Scotch'll do me fine." He flagged down the barman, ordering the mentioned drink, another round of whatever Rose was drinking and a couple of shots of something strong. Sirius was not used to worrying about money. Extravagance suited him, and it wasn't something he was planning on giving up any time soon. As he ordered, he nodded, listening to Rose's story.

"Sounds like a bastard to me," he announced, crossing his arms on the bar and leaning over slightly to look at her. "But then a lot of us are. They make a mockery and a sham of the whole sex!" The last sentence was loud and melodramatic, and several people look around. Sirius flashed them a wide grin, before turning back to Rose and lowering his voice a little. "And now you are dealing with the whole situation in a mature and responsible manner... I am very glad to see it."

As if on cue, the barman plonked the shots down. Sirius quirked an eyebrow, and slid one towards Rose before throwing back his own. It burnt on the way down, making him gasp. "Merlin's balls! That's strong."

"Hey I haven't read much of the books. Enough to know you were one of my favourites though," she said with a grin, sipping her drink. It sounded so suck up but she didn't care. It was out of her mouth before she could do anything about it anyway.

She watched as he ordered the drinks before resting her elbow on the bar, head going to her hand. However she was soon laughing, dropping her hand to the bar as she watched people turn to look at him. Grinning when he did, she leaned close as if sharing a secret when he lowered his voice.

"Yes well I am very mature!"

She took the shot when he slid it towards her, downing it as he did. She was doing ok, making a face at the burning, until she spluttered a laugh at his reaction.

"Lightweight."

"Is that you crawling up my arse?" Sirius smirked. Not that he minded. He'd only really hung out with Pete for the compliments. And, later on, the fact that he could turn into a rat. Rats were easier to sneak around the castle than massive dogs or stags. Or werewolves.

He really needed to stop thinking about Pete. It made his stomach clench angrily, which didn't mix well with shots.

He grinned as Rose took her own shot, blonde hair spilling down her back as she threw her head back. Then she teased him, and his face fell into an expression of feigned insult. "Hey! You've had about twelve already! Your tastebuds are just drunk."

Reaching out, he pulled his drink to him. The inch of scotch sat in the glass, a few ice cubes beginning to melt already. "Tell me about the bloke, then." he decided, settling into his stool a little more comfortably and swirling the drink around the bottom of the glass. The ice clinked gently. "A problem shared, or whatever. Then I, in my infinite wisdom, will solve your problems. Like a devilishly attractive agony aunt."

He flashed a brief grin, taking in her high cheekbones and flawless skin, before he lifted his drink to take a sip. Curious eyes watched her over the edge of his glass.

"Is that you enjoying it?" She responded with ease and a smirk to match his. This was what made alcohol so great, she didn't feel so held back.

She couldn't stop laughing at the fake look of hurt. But she pouted when he made comment on the amount she had drank already. It was nowhere near that. Unfortuntaely, if she was honest, since she really could do with more.

"They are not!"

She sighed when he told her to tell him about the Doctor. Looking down at her drink she shrugged. "I left home to travel with him. Told him I loved him when we got seperated and he disappeared before he got to give any kind of response. But he probably never would say it. It would never work is all he would think."

She sighed before taking another drink. She really needed to get drunk right now.

"They are," Sirius teased. "Absolutely hammered. I can tell."

But then the mood changed, and she was staring down at her drink with such a disheartened expression Sirius nearly winced. She must care a lot for this bloke. He'd seen that expression before - when James had been turned down by Lily for perhaps the millionth time in a week. He'd thought he was mental to be caught up on one girl, who obviously hated him, for years. But now look at them, married with a sprog on the way. Sirus' own relationships had been a lot more cut and run. A lot of running, actually.

When she was done, she reached for a drink as the young animagus watched. "Do you think it would work?" he finally questioned, his tone suddenly a lot more gentle. The barman reached to take the shot glasses back, but Sirius caught his wrist. "Leave the bottle?"

Whoever said he wasn't responsible? He just saved an innocent bartender a lot of unnecessary footwork. God. And they locked him up. He should definitely get an Order of Merlin for the amount of stuff he put up with.

"Then yours better join them or they'll feel lonely."

And that sounded like a rotten pick up line. Ah well, she didn't give a toss right now. Especially when it got to talking about the Doctor. She needed something light hearted to cheer her up, make her feel slightly more like a woman than a silly teenage girl. She glanced at him at his question before sighing softly. Once the barman had left, the bottle soon in front of them, she turned to face Sirius with a shrug.

"He's over 900 years old, he isn't human even if he looks it. He keeps bringing up thatI'll die long before he does so I guess it's to stop him from hurting in the future."

Yet that meant hurting in the present too. How did that even make sense?

Sirius blinked. "Well... fuck me." His eyes narrowed suspiciously for a moment, because it sounded strangely like the the kind of story someone (well... him) would come out with, just to see how far they could go. Once he had spent a week convincing Pete that Remus was having an affair with the Hogwarts nurse. Then it turned out he was a werewolf. Which, now he thought about it, was infinitely more exciting. And then Sirius remembered he was supposed to be being an agony aunt. Pulling himself back to reality, the young man decided that her expression was not one of someone who was making up a hilarious joke. In fact she looked... well...

"Here." He grabbed the bottle and poured her another couple of shots. "You do realise this sounds completely mental?" he checked, as the clear liquor spilled into the glass. "But we'll continue on regardless. It seems to me..." He placed the bottle down, spinning the new drink back to Rose and lifting his own to his lips. Grimacing around the taste, he continued. "Seems to me that there's a bit of sense in what he says. Sounds like he's trying to protect you both. Although why you'd have a thing for a bloke who claims to be 900 years old is beyond me."

He glanced across at her, suddenly spinning the glass on the end of his index finger. She didn't look much happier. Sirius sighed, closing his fist around the shot glass. "Look on the bright side. At least you don't have a murderer for a best mate. Or... a limp." That surprised even him. Sometimes Sirius suspected his mouth wasn't actually connected to his brain.

"Thanks," she said before picking up the first shot, downing it with a face before placing the shot glass down. Laughing almost bitterly at his question, her gaze turned to him. "Yes I do. But that's my life. Completely mental."

She listened to him as he spoke, eyeing the other drinks he'd poured. She watched him as he drank, grinning a little at the grimace before the grin fell. Yes, the Doctor always was one for protecting anyone.

"I'm a big girl, I can protect myself. But why can't he just say he knows my feelings but doesn't return them? At least then I could start on the rebound. And he may be 900 but god he's fit. Barely looks over thirty, mid thirties at a push."

True she didn't. Though the second question had her making a rather bemused face at him. "...What?"

"I'm assuming it is because he is a bloke, although apparently a freakishly old one." Sirius pointed out, doing his best 'wise' expression. Remus had once pointed out that face made him look like he had a wand up his arse. "And we blokes do not like to do things in the simple, logical way you women seem to enjoy to much. We are ruled by our very basic instincts. Which are usually quite stupid."

God. He'd thought he'd thrown in being some kind of mad, rambling relationship guru when Prongs had finally got Lily to go out with him. This whole situation was very familiar. If James had been a blonde, attractive woman. Which he wasn't. Or hadn't been the last time Sirius had seen him, at any rate.

Sirius shrugged off her bemusement, helping himself to another shot before waving the question aside. "Doesn't matter. Let's cheer you up. Let's find something fun to do..." He spun on his stool so he was facing away from the bar, scanning the bustling room curiously. The alcohol had started to take effect, and everything seemed a little brighter and fuzzier than it had been before.

Sirius' eyes landed on the spot by the door, where someone had left a neatly folded umbrella. A wide, handsome grin ripped his features. "Limbo competition!"

And with that he was gone, bounding over the bar to grab the umbrella, pulling his wand from his back pocket as he did so. Glancing back over his shoulder, Sirius lifted his voice to yell at Rose. At the same time, he tapped the umbrella with his wand so it wobbled and seemed to suddenly stretch until it was about five foot long.

"Come on, Pisshead! Get some chairs."

"Not freakishly. He's just not the same as us." She couldn't stop the smile at the look on his face before sighing. "Well normally you're ruled by something else but it's not the case with him. God I wish he was ruled by that."

It would make this a lot easier. If he was being a stereotypical bloke then all this would have been sorted. Well not really, sex would have probably complicated the matters more with the Doctor. She didn't know, all she knew was that she was insanely confused right now.

Then his eyes were lighting out and he was declaring something about limbo and bounding off in the direction of the door. When he pulled out what looked like a stick she had to grin. Oh my god, it was a wand. He was actually using a wand in front of her. Something made her instantly want to ask him to show her anything he could do with that. When he called over about chairs, she grinned at the slightly disapproving look of the bar man before moving and grabbing a few.

"I'm not your skivvy, mister!"

"Yes you are!" Sirius grinned widely, tossing dark hair back from his face as he casually flicked his wand, sending a few chairs and tables skidding over the floor to clear some space. Some of those seats still had people sat on them, who shouted and clung on for dear life as the furniture whizzed a few feet in various directions. But that couldn't be helped. Sirius whirled on his heel, bouncing on the balls of his feet in time to the music being piped from the speakers while he set about organizing his latest plan.

A few minutes later, several people had been bothered into joining, and Sirius was doing a rather impressive limbo underneath the stretched umbrella, which was balanced between the two chairs. (Sirius could adjust the height with his wand) Straightening up on the other side, the animagus gave an elaborate bow, before loping off to help himself to another shot, grinning widely as he watched the next contestant. At some point, Ricky Martin had been picked as the soundtrack.

Happy days.

Throwing back yet another shot of clear liquor, Sirius looked around for Rose in the rabble and slipped over to join her with a smug smile. "More fun than drinking alone, I think? It's okay. You can say it. I am a genius of the highest order."

Soon, rather a lot of the pub had started to join in and she was slightly glad that Sirius had managed to turn this place into something more fun. Even if the barman get shooting them unamused looks throughout. She had lost him at some point and after a laugh with one of the other people here she found herself alone, just watching everyone. But she wasn't alone for long.

"You certainly are," she said with a laugh as she, in her slight drunken haze, wrapped an arm around his waist. "Need to drink with you more often I think!"

She needed someone to have fun with. She was still young after all, she needed to have a laugh.

Sirius nodded wisely, slinging a casual arm around Rose's shoulders as hers wound around his waist. She fitted quite nicely against him. "You do. You, Pisshead, have been living what is known as a Padfootless life. And that is a shame and a tragedy." He looked around for another drink, still with Rose tucked neatly under his arm, eventually spotting one he'd abandoned and grabbing the golden pint from the side.

Turning back to watch the drama, Sirius grinned widely and let out a loud, sharp bark of laughter as a slightly larger gentleman attempted a very brave limbo. In the background, 'Livin la Vida Loca' was blaring, and the fat man flailed for a moment before someone helped him up.

"Comedy-wise," Sirius told Rose happilu, "I think this may be one of my great triumphs. Anyway, you need to go up. Go on." He slipped a hand down to the small of her back, giving her a gentle push towards the 'limbo floor'

"It really is!"

It was strange, she had only met him today and yet she was starting to think that they had known each other for years. He was easy to be around and have a laugh with, even before she got slightly drunk. And now that they had met she really did not want to stop hanging out with him. He was gorgeous, a laugh and human. Perfect.

Her gaze turned to where he was staring when he laughed, laughing along when she saw the sight. Before some vodka it would be a quiet laugh. With the vodka, her head was thrown back as it started before she looked to the man again, still laughing. That was until he started pushing her.

"I am not pissed enough to do so, sir," she said with a laugh, trying to grab his hand so he would stop pushing her.

"Tyler," Sirius told the blonde, his voice completely serious as she did her best to stop him pushing her. "I do not have time for your silly games. Now get over there and limbo your troubles away. You are embarrassing us both... Right." He planted both hands firmly around her waist, pushing her firmly in front of him towards the 'competition area'.

"Stop this childishness!!" He yelled, his voice confidently carrying over the rabble of the crowd as he and Rose battled their way through. "Limbo!"

He shoved her gently in the direction of the dancefloor, glancing over in time to notice the barman looking more and more irritated. What was it with these people and impromptu competitions in their bars? He'd never had this kind of trouble in Hogsmeade. Rosmerta had more or less let Sirius and his friends do whatever they liked. He sent the man a wide, irritating grin, before turning back to watch Rose.

She squealed when he grabbed her, pushing her forward to where the limbo competition was currently being held. The closer she got to it, the more she actually quite enjoyed the thought of it. When he shoved her towards the limbo, she stopped to steady herself before tilting her head and looking at the limbo stick. It was low down, but she had one advantage to her abilities.

Soon she was at the other side of the limbo, laughing when people cheered before she moved over to Sirius and in her slightly tipsy mood, threw her arms around his neck. With a cheeky grin, she tapped his cheek.

"Did I forget to mention I done gymnastics at school?"

He laughed as she doubled over to clear the umbrella, joining the rest of the gathering in the cheering while the blonde hurried back to him, slinging her arms around his neck. Sirius quirked a dark eyebrow upwards as she touched his cheek. "That's made my brain go quite filthy. And I am a gentleman. Merlin knows what that did to the rest of these poor perverts." He gestured to the men in their rowdy, and growing, group, his tone serious. "You are teasing them with your limbo."

Glancing over her shoulder, Sirius rolled his eyes as he noticed the barman going a rather spectacular shade of marooon. He could tell he would have to listen to him ramble on sooner or later. Slipping an arm around Rose's waist, he ducked his head to speak quietly to her, nodding to the barman. "He is not in the party mood. He is, in fact, in an unparty mood."

"A gentleman, are you? Well I am glad that my school days were good for something." She burst out laughing at the serious look on his face as she looked around the group when he pointed them all out. "I am a unashamed tease!"

She followed his gaze, smiling slightly when his arm wrapped around her waist. He was right, the barman looked extremely annoyed. "Oh he is far from fun. Why don't we lighten him up?"

With that, she grabbed Sirius' hand and dragged him toward the tables, a couple of people still sitting at a few of them. A little unsteadily, she stood on the table before pulling at Sirius. She could vaguely hear 'I Love Rock and Roll' on the speakers and that just encouraged her.

"Come on handsome."

Sirius' arm was suddenly in danger of being wrenched from its socket as Rose grabbed him, dragging him through the crowd (Who were carrying on with the limbo with a dedication that was almost impressive) as he laughed. "Whoa. Watch it, Pisshead!"

Sirius absently held out a hand, as if just waving at her would keep her from falling as she clambered up onto the furniture.

"Oh Merlin..." He groaned and rolled his eyes, but a moment later was stood beside her. The next second a rather manic dancing urge overtook him, and there was little to do but to give in to it. In fact, it was only when 'Sex bomb' came on over the speaker, and Sirius broke into a painfully enthusiastic set of hip thrusts, that he heard a voice. Eyes a little cloudy from the drink, the animagus peered down into the face of the angry, unparty barman.

"Alright sunshine. Fun times over."

"My dear sir. You," Sirius told him, from his perch on top of the furniture. "have just got the wrong end of the stick. I was trying to keep this hysterical young woman from injuring herself, by moving her to higher ground." He wobbled a little, and the table creaked beneath them.

She hadn't had a laugh like this since she was back home, before leaving to go with the Doctor. Yes she had a laugh with him, and had amazing experiences and had never been happier but she had never been this drunk since she left to be with him. And this was a different type of fun.

But then they were being told off and it took a lot to make Rose not fall about laughing. Glancing at Sirius, she wasn't able to stop the laugh when the table creaked and he wobbled, her own arm grabbing onto him. But the barman was far from amused.

"I don't think this place can deal with how awesome we are," she said before unsteadily jumping from the table, laughing. "Let's go find somewhere with more style!"

Rose grabbed his arm, and Sirius flashed her a wide grin before turning back to the man he was quickly deciding was the most grumpy barman in the city. "I'm very safety conscious." He told him seriously, enjoying the way the older mans face was turning a strange shade of crimson. Then he shook his jumped from the table and held out a hand to Rose.

Once she was safely beside him, Sirius looped a casual arm around her shoulders. "Right. Moving on. Let the good times roll. Oh... wait." He paused in the act of leading her to the door, picking up the limbo umbrella and tapping it with his wand. The umbrella squirmed and retreated back to its normal length, before the animagus chucked it to the slightly stunned barman. He grinned, waving to the crowd, then led the way to the exit, pausing to offer Rose an elaborate bow, gesturing outside.

"After you."
