WHO: Noah and Kate Bennet.
WHAT: Reunion time.
WHEN: Soon after this.
WHERE: Kate's apartment.
RATING: TBD.
STATUS: In progress.

After everything he had seen, both at home and in this place, Noah Bennet had thought he could handle anything. The idea that something would truly faze him was almost laughable. But then he'd never counted on his wife showing up. Not Sandra, who he had loved but had a strained and uncomfortable marriage with, but Kate. Kate, the first woman he had ever loved and the woman whose death had set him on a path that completely changed him as a person. Kate, who was pregnant with his child. He was completely at a loss with it all. On the one hand, he was happy. He'd never stopped loving Kate, never stopped mourning her death and feeling guilty that he couldn't stop it. But he wasn't the man she had married, almost a quarter of a century older and changed beyond what he could tell her, and he wasn't sure he could take it if she decided she couldn't love the man he had become.

Still, the was standing outside her door, after taking time to compose himself, his hand raised to knock. He stood there, frozen by nervous tension, then finally rapped his knuckled against the door. No going back now, though he was struck with the sudden urge to just leave before he could mess this up. But he'd never been the kind of man to choose flight over fight, and he was willing to fight for Kate, even if that meant fighting his own insecurities.

Based on what Kate had been told, both by Noah himself as well as Sylar, she had half-expected him to turn right around and leave with a vow to end the killer's life and a promise to return. Not that she would have stood idly by and just let that happen, but it didn't happen and for that she was glad. She also wasted no time in assuring him that she was perfectly fine.

"He made me some tea and stir-fry, and we talked." She shook her head a bit with a slightly puzzled frown. "I think he mostly just wanted to make sure that I knew the truth about you." She shrugged a bit then flashed Noah a smile. He looked so very different yet still somehow the same. It took some getting used to.

"When did you start needing glasses?"

Had she asked the question to anyone else, Kate probably would have apologized. With Noah, she simply linked her arm with his and led him to the couch to sit, gazing up at him as though trying to re-memorize everything about him.
