Who: Gabriel, Sam and Claire.
What: Discussing an epic plan of epicness.
Where: The secret apartment of secretness.
When: Nowish.
Rating/Status: TBD / In progress.

"So that's the plan."

Gabriel was fully expecting to hear crickets chirping or something. After all, this was Sam and Claire he was talking to. They weren't exactly geniuses. Well, Sam was, but he was also the dumbest genius ever. Gabriel was considering making him a tiny trophy to that effect. Maybe one that glowed in the dark and played music. Probably 'It's Raining Men' or something. He could do that. He was just that good. Of course Kali would probably start harping about mancrushes and awkwardness and jealousy and 'stop stalking that younger idiot' and honestly, she was less hot when she was bitching at him. Which wasn't to say she wasn't still really hot, because she really, really was, but he kind of wanted a mute button for her sometimes. Except then the sex would be creepy and quiet and that would suck. No mute button then. But that was all beside the point. Or several miles from it. They were talking about the plan. He really wanted a snack and now there was a squirrel running around on the fire escape and...plan. Right.

A bag of M&M's appeared in his hand and he munched on them as he waited for their opinions. He had been kind of amused when he'd arrived to talk to them, Loki waylaying Cas and Mikey talking to Dean. Yeah, he and his brothers were pretty smooth when they worked together. He'd been all prepared to tell Sam and Claire the plan when they had gotten up in his face, wanting to know if there was a plan and telling him not to keep them in the dark, and generally acting like angry puppies. It was almost adorable. Part of him wanted to not tell them, just to watch them get indignant, but the fact was the plan wouldn't work if they didn't know. It would just lead to confusion and vaguely incestuous moments and death. Actually, that would all probably happen either way, but at least this way they would know why. So he'd told them, amusing himself with their utter surprise at actually being told something they wanted to know. That was better than being contrary.

"Your thoughts?" he said after a moment, impatient. "Well? We don't have all day. My brothers can only distract Cassie and Deano so long. And they can't know about this or they will fuck it up. That's sort of what they do." He looked at Claire. "Well, Skipper? It utilizes your one marketable skill. What do you think? Also, Crowley came up with it. Which means two things: One, it will work...or fail spectacularly. Two, that little pipsqueak antichrist owes me ten bucks." He looked at Sam next. "Well? You wanted a plan. You have a plan. A plan that doesn't end in you dead, bodyjacked by Lucy or watching everyone you love die horribly. What more could you want?"

Another moment. "What are you waiting for?" he asked. "An engraved invitation? Tell me it's awesome." Then he paused. "Oh right!" He waved his hand and made it so they could talk again. He forgot he'd shut them up so they couldn't interrupt and make him lose his train of thought. "Okay. Now talk."

When Claire had suggested they go to Gabriel to learn of whatever plan there might be, she hadn't expected there to actually be a plan. She had, in fact, been prepared to be blown off or possibly outright ignored. So when Gabriel not only told them exactly what the plan was, and with far less prodding than she had expected, she hadn't known what to say. Not that she could speak, of course, but even if she could she would have likely been quiet.

Well, that wasn't entirely true. She probably would have asked him a hundred different questions, starting with 'Are you actually insane?' and ending somewhere along the lines of 'No, really, are you seriously certifiable?' So it was probably best that he'd temporarily rendered her mute. However when he began to grow impatient that she didn't immediately answer, she was still just annoyed enough that he'd taken her voice that she didn't bother pointing out that she couldn't answer him. She'd just stood there with a carefully neutral expression and waited for him to figure it out.

"I think it's crazy," she said first and foremost when she finally could speak once again. "I think it's completely nuts and the odds of it being successful are about a trillion to one. In fact, there are better odds that my dad would actually become a paper salesman than there are of us pulling this off. I also don't like lying to Dean or Cas, and we better all just hope neither of them actually asks me anything specific because I pretty much suck at lying in general anyway." She gave a shrug of her shoulders and the corners of her mouth turned upward slightly.

"But, we don't have anything better, Crowley has every reason to want Lucifer gone so he wouldn't half-ass the one shot we have at doing it and, like you said, it involves me relying on the one thing I can do." She paused and glanced to Sam, then back to Gabriel.

"So, count me in. Definitely."

He wasn't serious.

There was no way that he could honestly expect Sam to agree to this crazy, stupid plan that would probably end up killing a lot of the people he cared about. And Sam planned on telling him so, as soon as he could speak.

There was too much risk. Sam could think, at that moment, about a dozen ways that this ridiculous, insane, stupid plan could go wrong. A million and one if you counted Dean or Cas finding out somehow. Not that Sam would say anything, but Dean found out everything somehow or another and Cas was an angel. He'd find a way. A million and two if you counted the chance that Lucifer didn't buy it. Which Sam, of course, did.

When he could speak again, he opened his mouth to say that he thought the idea was crazy, but Claire did it for him. Thank god she was smart. He opened his mouth to agree, but realized quickly that he may as well have been mute still, because Claire spoke again. And voiced the one reason that Sam had thought it was an okay plan. They had nothing else. That was definitely true.

"But...there has to be some other way..."

There wasn't. And he knew it. He may have been stupid, but even he could see that this was more or less their only shot. And he could also see that Claire and Gabriel's minds were made up. His opinion was really just a formality.

"I don't have much choice, do I?"

Gabriel grinned at Claire. "Of course it's crazy," he said cheerfully. "There's every possibility it won't work and this place'll go up in flames, but that's why it probably will work." Try and work out that logic for a second, kids. "What I mean is...Lucy's expecting an angelic plan. Those are pretty straightforward and he knows how to deal with those plans. This isn't an angelic plan so he won't be prepared for it. Got it?"

"Great," he said, once Claire agreed. "Just do what you do best." Also known as Claire doing the only thing she was good at. It was cruel, but Gabriel was cruel sometimes. He wasn't a nice guy by any stretch of the imagination. And at least he hadn't said that out loud. That was progress. Or something. He didn't really know or care.

"Another way, Sammy?" Gabriel asked, raising an eyebrow. "Please, dazzle me with your cunning plan to kill the devil. I'm dying to hear it." He sighed. "You don't think we've been trying to figure something out since he showed up and killed our brother? We have. Look, God told me to listen to Loki. Loki told me this plan. That means this plan is the only plan that has half a chance of working."

He grinned. "No," he said. "You really don't. So suck it up and play your part." And boy did he mean that differently than the last time he'd advised Sam of that.

Claire's gaze slid to Sam and she did her best to ignore Gabriel's purposeful poking. She couldn't blame the Archangel for pointing out the obvious - namely that there was no plan aside from this one - but she also understood Sam's hesitation. It involved relying an awful lot on others and was a pretty crazy plan to be considering regardless.

"Hey," she finally spoke up, "if you really don't want to go for it, we'll..." She sighed. "I don't know. Figure something else out. But-" She shrugged and offered Sam a small smile that wasn't quite cheerful as much as caring. "There really isn't any other option, you know? I know you aren't planning on saying yes but he's not going to just keep asking nicely forever."

She glanced back to Gabriel as another thought occurred to her. "When are we planning on doing this, anyway?"
