Who: Billy and Penny, !CLOSED
What: Billy casually calls around to see how Penny's doing.
When: Tuesday mid-morning
Where: Building C
Warnings: None so far

Billy raised his hand, finger hovering over the button with Penny's name on it.

He can do this. He's allowed to do this. He can call over to say hi. To see how she's doing. That's completely normal and allowed and not creepy.

But he can't make himself press the button. He's gonna get all tongue tied again and it'll be really obvious why he's here, and then it'll turn out that he's been reading all the signs wrong and she'll be horrified or worse, she'll laugh, and-

He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath.

And pressed the buzzer.

He gave her a small smile, but he was really distracted by her fingers on his thigh. It felt so good.

It was actually a good thing she moved them away, he didn't trust himself to be able to act naturally when she touched him like that. Even though it was completely innocent on her part, it really wasn't on his.

He focused on the frozen yogurt.

"Uh, how about you?" he asked, eventually. "Do you miss anyone?"

He glanced up at her and the look on her face made something in his chest ache.

"Oh, I'm sorry," he said, and he meant it.

It wasn't fair, Penny shouldn't feel that way. All the time he'd been watching her, he'd never imagined she'd be lonely. She was so amazing he couldn't imagine her not being loved by - well, everyone.

He hated the thought of her being alone.

He set the carton on the table and shifted forward. He reached out to wrap his arms around her, pulling her into a tentative hug.

	"It's alright," she said. She smiled when he hugged her. She set her frozen yogurt down and wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head on his chest. "Thank you," she said. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

It wasn't alright, but he wanted to make it alright.

He wanted to tell her she wasn't alone, that she wouldn't be lonely again because he was here. And that he loved her hair - it smelled so amazing.

But he wasn't sure how to do that without sounding like an idiot.

He squeezed her gently, hand stroking her back a little. He rested his chin on her head, just breathing in the scent of her hair.

	Her fingers on his chest felt so good. She could probably feel how fast his heart was beating. But he was really starting to focus on how good it felt being curled up like this with her. 	He smiled, wrapping his arm around her more securely, holding her tight. He was so glad he'd stopped by. And that she was this comfortable around him, well ... it gave him hope. And actually, hope was kinda... good. (Reply to this) (Parent)
