Who: Billy and OPEN
What: Laundry day
When: Wednesday morning.
Where: Laundromat close to building A
Rating/Warnings: None so far

A week. He'd been here over a week.

He hadn't wanted to, but he'd had to accept it. For now, anyway. He was working on a modified transmatter ray. One that would actually transport him home (without any molecules shifting, of course). He'd started work on the calculations already, and they were coming along.

Money was going to be an issue. He'd picked up some clothes and food and stuff, and he didn't have a lot left from his $100. And the equipment for the transmatter ray was going to be pricey.

He sighed, glancing around the unfamiliar laundromat. That was another thing. Laundry wasn't his favourite chore, but he didn't have a lot of clothes. And it was Wednesday.

But it was all wrong.

He kept looking up, expecting to see a flash of red out of the corner of his eye. God, he missed her. The smell of the detergent she used, the way her leg swung a little while she read her book.

He was probably never going to see her again. And she - was probably going on dates with him and that thought made him clench his fists automatically.

He shook himself.

Transmatter ray. He needed to figure out how to get it working, so he could get out of here.

Some people hated chores like laundry. They found them boring or tedious or any other similar descriptor.

Lily wasn't one of those people. Being a witch, muggle chores fascinated her, and as such she enjoyed them. Especially laundry, for some reason. Laundromats were just so charming. She took her laundry down to the nearby laundromat and separated it out into whites and colours. Then sighed in frustration with herself. She'd forgotten her detergent.

"Excuse me," she said to a man nearby, who seemed like he might be nice. "Would you mind too terribly if I used some of your detergent? I forgot mine back at my flat." She really hoped he would say yes.

Billy was running over some calculations in his head when he heard the voice. He was startled, and turned to look at her.

For a second, his heart leaped in his chest. Red hair.

But as soon as he got a proper look at her, he knew she wasn't Penny. His heart fell a little at that, even though he knew it wasn't logical. Of course she wasn't Penny. She was younger and she had a British accent.

Right, she was talking. He blinked and gave her a nervous half-smile.

"Sorry. Uh, sure you can," he said, reaching for the box of detergent. He held it out, still smiling nervously. "Here," he said, pointlessly.
