A week. He'd been here over a week.
He hadn't wanted to, but he'd had to accept it. For now, anyway. He was working on a modified transmatter ray. One that would actually transport him home (without any molecules shifting, of course). He'd started work on the calculations already, and they were coming along.
Money was going to be an issue. He'd picked up some clothes and food and stuff, and he didn't have a lot left from his $100. And the equipment for the transmatter ray was going to be pricey.
He sighed, glancing around the unfamiliar laundromat. That was another thing. Laundry wasn't his favourite chore, but he didn't have a lot of clothes. And it was Wednesday.
But it was all wrong.
He kept looking up, expecting to see a flash of red out of the corner of his eye. God, he missed her. The smell of the detergent she used, the way her leg swung a little while she read her book.
He was probably never going to see her again. And she - was probably going on dates with him and that thought made him clench his fists automatically.
He shook himself.
Transmatter ray. He needed to figure out how to get it working, so he could get out of here.
