COLLIGOWEEN '09 ➠ FUTURE-DATED TO THE 31st.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL
The convention center was alive with activity tonight. The locals acted as if an event such as this happened every Halloween, prattling on in their corners and within their groups about the previous year's happenings, from costume winners to drama queens who had made near-scandalous scenes. There was punch and cookies, cakes and candies, and even a bar at the back that served alcoholic beverages to those of age. Within the convention center, all seemed right. Safe. Enjoyable.

But, down below...

Unknown to the residents of Colligo, one Ethan Rayne was currently hard at work in the basement of the building, setting up a spell he knew by heart. It hadn't gone according to plan last time he cast it, but he was confident it would go his way this time -- especially when his way was also The Collector's way.

He glanced impatiently at the clock. 7PM. The Collector said 11PM. In four hours, all hell would break lose in a symphony of chaos.

"Cinderella's leaving the ball a little early this year..."

MOD NOTE: This is the kick off to the ball! Sub-threads can be found within for your use. However, keep in mind that no one knows what Ethan is up to or that he's even in the city. Future-dated to allow people time to get threads going.

THE COSTUME SPELL IS NOT IN EFFECT YET. This is being done in order to give members time to game within the party prior to the spell being cast. When the spell is cast, a new sub-thread will be posted and members will be notified via the OOC comm. SPELL ACTIVATED!

"Ohh.. so more like a zombie then," he said with a nod. Raising the dead seemed like quite the nasty business. "We call them Inferi, where I'm from. Not something to meet in a dark alley. Or a cave."

He paused then. "Oh, of course.. wasn't that the Dark Ages? I heard it was very strict. Still can't do magic in front of muggle now either, though, or the Ministry gets the memory charms set. Lots of red tape. But as to the school.. it's all very open to practicing."

He smiled, looking around for a moment. He didn't see anyone that looked like Harry. "He might. I haven't actually met him in person.. but I'm sure Harry is around somewhere." He paused. "I do wonder, though, about.. Arthur, was he ever called Wart? Was there ever a knight named Kay?"

"Yes, I guess." He shrugged. The black knight had been unpleasant; zombie, inferi, whatever you called it made little difference. The idea that it occurred often enough to give them a special name, however, worried Merlin slightly about the people that would come to use magic by his time.

"Dark Ages?" It wasn't called that so far as he knew, but then he'd been living it not reading from a text book. "Uther banned the use of magic ages back. It used to be that you could use magic freely, but people abused their power." That's what he'd been told anyways. The ban on magic had been put in place before he was born.

Merlin couldn't help the great laugh escaping him at the question of Arthur and being called Wart. He shook his head though. "No, and he didn't appreciate that movie as much as I did. I wouldn't go calling him that either. Um -- Knights...I think there was one named Kay. Arthur would know, I'm not sure. I liked Sir Leon, he was nicer then the rest of them."
