COLLIGOWEEN '09 ➠ FUTURE-DATED TO THE 31st.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL

The convention center was alive with activity tonight. The locals acted as if an event such as this happened every Halloween, prattling on in their corners and within their groups about the previous year's happenings, from costume winners to drama queens who had made near-scandalous scenes. There was punch and cookies, cakes and candies, and even a bar at the back that served alcoholic beverages to those of age. Within the convention center, all seemed right. Safe. Enjoyable.

But, down below...

Unknown to the residents of Colligo, one Ethan Rayne was currently hard at work in the basement of the building, setting up a spell he knew by heart. It hadn't gone according to plan last time he cast it, but he was confident it would go his way this time -- especially when his way was also The Collector's way.

He glanced impatiently at the clock. 7PM. The Collector said 11PM. In four hours, all hell would break lose in a symphony of chaos.

"Cinderella's leaving the ball a little early this year..."

MOD NOTE: This is the kick off to the ball! Sub-threads can be found within for your use. However, keep in mind that no one knows what Ethan is up to or that he's even in the city. Future-dated to allow people time to get threads going.

THE COSTUME SPELL IS NOT IN EFFECT YET. This is being done in order to give members time to game within the party prior to the spell being cast. When the spell is cast, a new sub-thread will be posted and members will be notified via the OOC comm. SPELL ACTIVATED!

Questions? Don't hesitate to contact one of the mods.

How the stylist at the salon she went to managed to get her hair up in such elaborate curls, Nissa would never know. The ringlets were smaller and tighter than the coils she used to work into her hair when she'd been alive. Tonight, the vampire was dressed as Marie Antoinette, though her hair wasn't as tall and her dress wasn't as elaborate as she was usually depicted, but Nissa didn't want to be made uncomfortable at this party due to hair that gave her headache or a dress that prevented her from sitting down. She also hadn't bothered to dye her hair blonde. She was a French Queen of her own styling, as unique as the original Austrian in the French Court.

She didn't see anyone she knew immediately, but she did spot a lovely dress she just had to compliment on. "I love your dress," she offered up to the stranger with a friendly smile.

Jenny smiled back at the woman. She was dressed in something reminiscent of the masquerade ball from so long ago. Definitely Marie Antoinette, though. No one anonymous. "Thanks! I managed to throw it together just in time. Yours is awesome too. And your hair looks like it took hours!"

"You made it yourself?" Nissa beamed, looking genuinely impressed. Of course, being a girl who was born in during the Civil War era, she remembered well the days when you had to sew your own clothes, but she was spoiled by the modern world in that department now. Still, she had great respect for those who had such skill, knowing firsthand the sort of effort that went into it.

She touched her hair as if to make sure none of the curls were sticking out. "It sure felt like it. My legs were going numb in that chair."

Holding out a hand she introduced herself. "I'm Nissa. Nissa Ravena."

Jenny grinned. "Yeah. It's sort of a hobby." Hobby slash passion slash what she used to do because her family used to live in Brooklyn and she went to school in the Upper East Side. It was still an adjustment, having spent the entire summer in the Hamptons and the beginning of the school year in Lily's place.

"Well it's gorgeous," Jenny smiled again.

She took the woman's hand, shaking it. "Nice to meet you. I'm Jenny Humphrey."

"You have a lot of talent and skill then. I used to help my mother sew clothing when I was younger. I was never very good at it. My artistic talents lie more in sculpting and painting than needlework." She had a lot of admiration for those who did, though.

She shook her hand, too. "Nice to meet you, too, Jenny. Is anyone from your home here in Colligo?"

She grinned. "Thanks. My mom's a painter. So I do paint and sketch, but nothing like she does. My creative outlet is clothing. Sculpting though! That sounds intense." Jenny recalled her mother having taken a sculpting class but giving it up for painting.

"Nope. Just me. I have managed to meet people who look like they're from my home, but no one actually. How about you?"
