COLLIGOWEEN '09 ➠ FUTURE-DATED TO THE 31st.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL
The convention center was alive with activity tonight. The locals acted as if an event such as this happened every Halloween, prattling on in their corners and within their groups about the previous year's happenings, from costume winners to drama queens who had made near-scandalous scenes. There was punch and cookies, cakes and candies, and even a bar at the back that served alcoholic beverages to those of age. Within the convention center, all seemed right. Safe. Enjoyable.

But, down below...

Unknown to the residents of Colligo, one Ethan Rayne was currently hard at work in the basement of the building, setting up a spell he knew by heart. It hadn't gone according to plan last time he cast it, but he was confident it would go his way this time -- especially when his way was also The Collector's way.

He glanced impatiently at the clock. 7PM. The Collector said 11PM. In four hours, all hell would break lose in a symphony of chaos.

"Cinderella's leaving the ball a little early this year..."

MOD NOTE: This is the kick off to the ball! Sub-threads can be found within for your use. However, keep in mind that no one knows what Ethan is up to or that he's even in the city. Future-dated to allow people time to get threads going.

THE COSTUME SPELL IS NOT IN EFFECT YET. This is being done in order to give members time to game within the party prior to the spell being cast. When the spell is cast, a new sub-thread will be posted and members will be notified via the OOC comm. SPELL ACTIVATED!

	Prue walked in, in full Elder garb. She'd gotten a robe and charmed it to be like what she'd heard tell of. She walked into the party, hood off and smiling as she walked in. She spotted someone dressed as an angel and couldn't help but grin more widely as she made her way toward him. "Nice costume," the witch remarked. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Castiel showed no distaste at her belief system, or perhaps he was just to stressed to concern himself with it now.
On learning more of the nature of the event his frown deepened. "Even more reason for me not to be here," Castiel complained, his voice low.
"I do not know what Dean was thinking, nor so I support the commercialisation of spiritual beliefs."

Yet he didn't leave. He stood steadfastly staring about the room managing to look overwhelmed and, at the same time, unimpressed.

	Pursing her lips, Prue examined him. "Who's Dean?" It was interesting. If he was an angel, which, he appeared to be, he was not one of her sort. Hence the lacking of recognition for her Elder costume. But then why did he come. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Dean is my charge." He did not add the bit about Dean being his friend. He was still annoyed with him. "It believes such interaction as this is helpful to me." It was clear from his tone at expression Castiel did not agree. He looked at Prue, really looked at her, for the first time. "What do you hope to gain from attending this event?" Prue understood the nature of having a charge, even if she didn't have the whitelighter powers. It came with her family. And being a witch in general.

"What do I hope to gain from attending this event?" she repeated, amusement apparent in her voice. "I hope to gain some fun, possibly some candy, a drink or two, dancing and generally a good time. What do you hope to gain?"

	"I told you. I did not come under my own volition." That wasn't quite true but Dean has asked him and Castiel could not refuse a rare invitation to spend time with the closest of his very few friends. "There are no parties back home," he said instantly.

He thought for a moment. "What you are saying is that sugar is pleasing to humans," he mulled. "So pleasing they will create an event and leave their homes to experience it in a collective fashion."

Castiel cast his eyes about the room until he spotted the tables of food.
He looked over at them with mild curiosity.
"Is that your destination?" he asked.

	"Sad place," Prue murmured, before listening to his analysis. She nodded. "Yeah, pretty much." Prue paused, wondering what exactly this angel's experience with the world was. "I'm Prue." "Castiel," the angel said as, after a small pause, he took her hand.
His own hand was dry and pleasantly warm. His grip was firm and careful as if he was were afraid he may crush her smaller hand.

He looked from Prue over to the table and back. It was clear he was curious about what was on it. He was also unclear on the social convention so he hesitated. "Is it free to take?" he asked after a pause.
"To all guests?"

	"Nice to meet you, Castiel," Prue replied, aware of his caution. He really was interesting. If she'd read about him, she was certain her analysis of his character would be noteworthy. But she wasn't reading one of her favorite classics, she was meeting a real person. Or real angel rather. She nodded. "Yup. Part of the Halloween spirit. Wanna try some?" 	It took him a moment to answer as he considered. He did not need to eat yet he could and there was no harm in satisfying his curiosity in such harmless matters. "Very well," he said cautiously. (Reply to this) (Parent)
