Remember how she would go through those periods where she was almost nice? Like, as if something had almost clicked in her mind and she realized, I don't know, we were her children. It never lasted for long, of course, and then she was back to her usual self.

Sometimes you could see it happening, but sometimes it just caught you so unaware.

There really wasn't ever a discernible pattern to it.

So fucking messed up.

Or she would show some kind of uncanny parental insight abilities and surprise us with our favorite dessert after supper, only to snap half way through because the sky was grayer than normal and it 'ruined' her damned picturesque family moment, or some shit like that?

So many good foods I won't touch now because of that. ~~Can't look at German chocolate cake without picturing a fork swinging down at the back of my hand~~
