Apparently resumes around here aren't that important.

Needless to say, I somehow wrangled a job as a cook at one of the smaller restaurants.  Step one to making sure you're crazy

Is there a gym around?

Thanks. I think I'll check them both out.

I tried out Wells. Interesting topic.

Excellent.

It's good for the space.

Wells was an interesting man. But yeah ... which topic are you talking about? Science fiction in general? Because when you think about the ideas he put out there, the man helped create an entire genre that continues to collect fanboys and fangirls and academic research in various types of medium. Unless you mean something more specific. Like time travelling or invisiblity or ...oh! Did you start in his novellas yet? In one of them, the romance? It's kind of sweet

Was he? I haven't read anything of his life. So far, I read The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth, The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds. The last one hit a bit too close to home. I need to return them so that I can take out A Modern Utopia and some more. Any specific recommendations?

What are fanboys and fangirls?

The Island of Dr. Moreau is awesome, so you know. And also an H.G. Wells book.

And hi! I'm Andrew Wells (no relation). You're Lee Adama, right? That is so cool.

Um. So. There's this show on tv called Battlestar Galactica. And you're sort of... one of the main characters.

Yeah, I know.

And I'm being serious here. Type your name into Wikipedia and see what you get. I've got the same issue going on where, apparently, I was part of a show too. There's a bunch of people here that were.

Hey, at least I can tell them I was on a show too. Even if there's a lot of stuff about me that I don't want people to know, but I'm pretty sure that most people know what I did now anyway.

Well with the new show, I don't know about all of it. It's still on when I'm from. But the old show was on for a long time in the 70s. But it was kinda different. Like, Starbuck was a guy in the old show instead of a girl. I'm surprised you don't know about it already.

Because he's probably a fanboy Oh, and the part that I forgot. Fanboy and Fangirls are basically ... what the names state. Fans. But it's more ... intense. Yeah, intense is a good word They're totally devoted to their fandom. Knowing everything from the writer's mothers maiden name to the character's favorite color. Probably even knowing how to speak a constructed lanuage. Which is the way it sounds, the writer of a book, producer of a film or series ... invents a language for their work. Even going so far to have grammar. And the fans learn it. All the codes. Everthing. Voila, there you have fanboys and fangirls in a nutshell.

Usually, squeeing is involved.

Actually yeah, it is. Possibly with some hyperventilation and flailing. I believe the literal definition is the cry of a rabid fangirl.

Yeah. Some writers? I think they just write to write or write with a feeling, which isn't bad at all, especially the second. But I think Wells' writing held a lot of his own ideals. He was an activist, into the politics. Although I kind of think the man was a bit with the wishy-washy, it was more from being unable to find a proper venue in the political parties and philosophy ideas, of his time, for his beliefs.

The Time Machine, "The Country Gone Blind", and I think you might like The Sleeper Awakes. Totally considered to be the first dystopian novel.

I'm usually not a fan of the former, though the latter is always interesting. His own ideals? That's fascinating, making novels which are saturated with everything you believe in.

I'll put them all on my list. Thank you very much, Andrea. As soon as I get through Wells, I'll try the Bradbury one you suggested.

Me too. The latter. He believed in the world state. A place where people could advance over merit. He wasn't a fan of imperialism.

No problem. I like recommending books to people. When you're done with Bradbury maybe you can tell me what you can think. Help with the never ending self-discussion. Do I hate it or do I love it?

Imperialism is outdated. As is hierarchical structure and monarchy. A place where people could advance over merit? I much agree with him.

Definitely. A literary discussion is something that I can't turn down.
