Let’s break this shiny new community in, shall we?

We’re excited for the game to start in a few days - we hope you’re excited, too! As we ramp up to get started (you can imagine us frantically typing as you read this - it’s probably not inaccurate), we figured we’d share a few housekeeping items and maybe spark some character conversations and voice tests, too!

Housekeeping first:
Community Tags
Tagging on [info]codexnet and [info]lostcodices will be left open to you, the players. Please tag everything with your character’s name, lowercase letters (i.e. a post by Varric would be tagged varric tethras). In addition, on [info]lostcodices, you can use the following: !log, !thread, !complete. There will be tags created by us relevant to various plot points, and we will create NPC tags as well. Please do not tag with anything but character names or we will have to lock down the tagging the way most games do. As funny as seeing something tagged with trainwreck or goopy schmoop is, we’re using tags as a way to filter the comms.
Plot Suggestions & Player Plots
Remember that you can suggest plot ideas to us here. We welcome your ideas! If you want a major plot of your own making to run game wide with your character as a key participant, it can happen. We’ll collaborate with you gladly. The last thing we want is to cramp your style - your character can do whatever he/she wants, within the guidelines of no puppeting other people’s characters/NPCs without permission, of course. Just remember that actions have consequences: if your character wants to go out and start stabbing people in the market, expect repercussions…

Also, if you want your character to play a pivotal role in game plot, that can happen too - we’ll be calling for volunteers when the monthly plot calendars come out. A bit more on this when the first one is released in a few days, but first, let us introduce...
The Temporary PC System
There will be times in this game where a character is needed for a major plot point and for whatever reason, the PCs in the game won’t do. Maybe the character has to die for the plot to progress. Maybe they have to leave town. Maybe they have to be made Tranquil. Maybe it’s something else. Regardless, we are aiming to put as much power into the players’ hands as possible, so when a major plot is coming up, we’ll make a call for temp PCs with a few descriptors (i.e. Needed: Hahren of the Alienage). Instead of us running these characters as pure NPCs, you will be able to volunteer to take them on. A shortened version of the app will be required, we will give you access to the NPC account, and you will be given some super-sekrit plot details. You’ll get a chance to interact with this character as you would with any other - make friends, make enemies, etc - and complete a small arc of 1-2 months. Some temp PCs will have the power to impact the plot significantly, and whoever plays them will be helping to steer the game. These characters won’t be subject to AC, but are expected to move their plots forward..
Plot Lotteries
When a plot point requires a finite number of PCs, everyone who wants in can sign up. If we exceed the number of characters, after 48 hours we will use a random generator to decide who gets a piece of the plot this time. For example, say 6 Warden PCs volunteer to take down the Archdemon - we’ll let fate decide who dies in a blaze of glory.
Character Death
Speaking of blazes of glory, it’s a Dragon Age game. Character death is obviously not out of the question. A reminder: of course you can kill your character at any time, but if you have a character who’s not gelling that you prefer to drop, we encourage you to talk to us. We can make their exit from the game explosive and plot-relevant.

And now that all of that is out of the way, what say you we get this party started with a few memes to warm up? We’ll have a couple going up on the OOC comm over the course of the next few days. Also, if you’ve been accepted, now’s the time to introduce yourself on the OOC comm.
