2/1 Wintersend

This holiday marks the beginning of the end of winter. It is a day for trade, the arts, and the arrangement of marriages. Several events follow the holiday over the course of the rest of the week, but perhaps most exciting is the announcement from King Markus Pentaghast that the negotiations have reached their conclusion and Orlais and Tevinter will both be sending troops to the front lines.

2/2 Wintersend Bardic Competition

Each year, the duchy of Cumberland hosts a day of competition for musicians, composers, and playwrights. There are many performances to attend over the course of the day, all free of charge, and the audience votes for their favorite performers. Winners are rewarded with gold and prestige.

2/3 Wintersend Tourney

In Minrathous, the feastday of Wintersend is traditionally accompanied with displays of martial skill. Magister Octavius Alexius organizes and hosts a tourney, with all factions encouraged to send their champions to compete. The Tatiana Helos, Marin Voclain, Alia Pentaghast, and Bastien Montbelliard face off to test their strength.

2/4 Wintersend Ball

Wintersend festivities culminate with a ball hosted by Duke Sebastien Van Markham at the ducal palace. The event is open to all in the spirit of celebration. The night will conclude with a toast to the coming spring and to the marriages that have been arranged over the course of the holiday week.

2/9 A Weapon of Use

With her arrival in Cumberland, Drusilla Branas and Octavius Alexius arrange a meeting with the Grey Wardens to discuss an artefact that may help turn the tide in the Blight. Caspian Pentaghast and Bastien Montbelliard attend the meeting as representatives.

2/15 The Second Challenge

After the success of his first test, Duke Sebastien Van Markham has another task that the would like his new pet to accomplish.

2/21 Rumor Mill

Cumberland is full of all sorts of people, and people like to talk… There’s an unusually creative range of rumors going around about a variety of the city’s citizens, and it seems no one is safe… (sign up here).

2/26 Chantry Board: Gathering Herbs

With additional forces heading to the front, the Chantry’s healers must replenish their stores of healing herbs. Iveani Ralaferin and Souvelani Alerion volunteer to gather more, but run into unexpected trouble in the woods near the city.

Cumberland rang in the new year on First Day with various celebrations around town. The festivities were still fresh in everyone’s minds when the negotiators reconvened. Thanks to some daring maneuvering by Frieda Ortan, it looked as though the resolution of months of negotiation was in sight.

The Warden Commander wasn’t the only person aiming at Orlais, either - Duke Sebastien Van Markham blackmailed Idril into planting evidence of Orlesian treachery in the home of Euria Ghrian. When the city guard raided the alienage, Sorin Ghrian, Godric Tagaris, Lev Tagaris, and Cassidy engaged them in a bloody battle and were eventually defeated and arrested. They were imprisoned and questioned, but before they could be executed, Euria Ghrian orchestrated their release with some behind-the-scenes help from Noëlle d’Orly.

As the month drew to a close, the story of Isolde Van Markham also came to an end when three volunteers investigated rumors of a haunting at her summer estate up the coast. When a sudden storm left them stranded in the abandoned house overnight, the last vestiges of the duchess’ magic nearly claimed their lives. Meanwhile, Cassidy and Idril found themselves summoned to a meeting by Sergio Cortes, who took the time to chastize them before offering them a new job.

There are no plot PCs required this month as the majority of the plot for February and March will center around characters and situations already being explored in game. You will see more temp PC slots open in April as we approach endgame.

Due to the large number of events associated with the holiday at the start of the month, we’re providing this pcal for you a bit early. We’ll be back to a normal schedule next month.

For the plot events that require a limited number of PCs, such the tourney battles, sign-ups are located below. The mods will dropbox or e-mail you relevant information in advance so you can log out your plot.

For events such as the Wintersend Ball that are open to large numbers of characters, there will be a plotting post with more information coming shortly.

Don't forget that for your AC, one of your two submissions needs to happen in the first 14 days of the month.
