Pre-Game Meme #2!
The game opens tomorrow! Who's excited? (Hint: your mods.) As we've been getting an influx of apps over the last few days, let's have another meme. It may be a bit simpler than the first one, though that one is still open to responses~ We present...

TWO LIES AND A TRUTH MEME

The rules are as follows:

OOC Rules:

  1. These are for fun, and therefore completely voluntary.

  2. These will not affect actual IC in-game interactions unless the players collaborate and decide they want to incorporate some of the things from this meme into the real game when it begins.

  3. Please post all replies to this meme on this post. Get creative~

  4. Have fun!

IC Things:

  1. Your character decides to share three facts about him or herself on the network.

  2. There's a twist: two facts are false, but one is true. Note that your character isn't obligated to tell people which is which.

  3. Other characters can make guesses regarding which fact is true and ask questions, start conversations, or generally heckle each other as appropriate.

Have fun!

It pulls on a thread, and the picture may unravel if you start in the correct spot.

A duel over something to do with you sounded believable, just the sort of nonsense that must happen frequently enough. But the Fereldan teryn was a touch too much.

The second lie... would be the third story?

But I so wanted a handsome teyrn, I simply had to invent him.

And it seems you are not as skilled at unraveling threads as you thought - no, the third one is true, every word. I'll have to show you my scar sometime. I've long since spent the fifteen coppers, unfortunately.

Perhaps the handsome teryn found a Free Marcher more pleasing.

I would make no claims to being a master at any such thing. You are in the first five Orlesians I've heard speak. Was the scar worth it? You still had the experience of opening a treasure chest all your own.

Perhaps. There's no accounting for taste.

Since it is a very small scar in exchange for a very good story, I suppose it was worth it. I quite enjoyed the company of the pirate, as well.

No? We dress so fashionably to be of taste.

A drinking, adventuring, and sexual companion all in one. Very efficient.

Oh, you truly think that is the only way to enjoy someone's company?

It is the most common way, and your shoulder needed to be dressed.

The most common? Oh, I don't know, maybe I have an excess of imagination, but I can think of so many other ways. I can assure you, both my shoulder and my person were dressed that evening.

Everyone is so concerned with everyone else and with bodies. You certainly enjoyed drinking and games. When you like the pirate so much, that would be enough?

There are many ways to like someone, as well as many ways to enjoy their company. The pirate had fascinating stories to tell and I even learned a new song to share. I might have perhaps considered more, but piracy does not lend itself to excellent hygiene.

Would you be one of the bards Orlais is so well known for? For as many romantic stories as there are about pirates, they prefer to gloss over such details.

I am indeed an Orlesian teller of stories and singer of songs. Perhaps it might have been more romantic for a fictional heroine to have a passionate tryst with the pirate - if I had wanted to turn the true story into a lie, I might have suggested I ran off with her and raided off the Storm Coast for a few months before seasickness had me returning to my previous occupation.

You should write some version of that tale and make the heroine someone else, lest people think you also a landlocked pirate. Your touches of real details could make it a popular song around the continent.

That's exactly where many of my songs come from. A bit of reality adds richness to an otherwise fantastical narrative.

Hopefully we can hear them performed while the negotiations are underway. The room itself will be so tense. We have to interact outside that.

I think you will get your wish. Cumberland's elite still entertain, and I am still often invited to be the entertainment.

It's good that you came, then. I imagine Cumberland's entertainment would be a bit droll without such touches.

The Nevarrans are lovely hosts, but no one entertains quite like Orlesians.

They are distracted by their own issues. I suspect we'd have to come back i n better times to see what they are truly like at their best.
