When he heard the footsteps stop, Ran paused, turning around to taunt her. "Aw, don't tell me you gave up! Guess I'm not-- Aya, what are you doing?" His eyes widened when he realized why she'd stopped and ducked just in time to miss taking a shoe to the head. "That's cheating! It doesn't count if I'm not conscious!"
Looking from Aya to the shoe and back, Ran couldn't help but wonder -if Aya had spent about two years in a coma, she'd have needed rehab to regain her strength. Judging from the shoe she'd whipped at him... who helped with the rehab? A track and field team? He'd have asked her outright, but there was something slightly more pressing to attend to: escape.
He may have given her permission to treat him as her own personal Barbie doll, but that didn't mean he had to make it easy on her! He'd lost a bit of time when she'd thrown the shoe at him, but if he went for the stairs instead of the elevator, he'd get back those precious seconds... IF he could skirt past her to reach them. Now that he thought about it, he really should've solidified a route instead of running blind.
