We need to talk... [active]
Who: Ran & Aya (notdevilordeath & awakenedslumber)
What: "So that's what you were doing..."
When: now since things have died down after the Explosion That Wasn't
Where: Aya's room (302A)
Warnings: Angst, guilt-trips, lack of regard for anyone trying to sleep near room 302A
He'd been dreading the explanation he knew he'd inevitably have to give her, but he'd thought he'd have had more time to warm up to the idea. The Mellos' decision to blow the building up, as well as the warning he'd gotten prior to the incident and actually hunting one of them down while hauling Aya with him threw away any possibility of taking his time, though. If he let it go, that gave her a chance to form her own opinion about everything, and he wasn't so certain he wanted that.
Life seemed to enjoy dangling things in front of him to tease him with. First, it was Schuldig's knowledge of the future, then it was Aya, then Mello after Schuldig had disappeared. Now, Schuldig had returned which would pull Mello from the picture... and leave him with the only person he knew he could rely on here besides himself: Aya. The last thing he needed was to lose her, whether it was to the city's whim or because of his own stupidity, and it was the reason why he made the trek to room 302 A. If she were to leave tomorrow or months from now, he'd know whether she'd look at him with the same eyes or if her view would be coloured by disgust should he ever tell her the truth.
Stopping at her door and knocking lightly, Ran glanced down the hall toward the room he now knew to belong to the man he couldn't seem to avoid. Aya didn't need to know the details about that particular piece of his messed up life, and unless she really prodded him, he wasn't going to give them.
His plan was simple: Say his piece, gauge her reaction, and leave if necessary.
