Eliot had been a prisoner before. Not in the traditional jail but once in a while, a job went south and he ended up the guest of the people he was attempting to steal from. But usually he found his way out and came out on top in the end. That's what made New Hope so frustrating.
He was captive once again but this time out of time and place. The city itself was designed to give them some creature comforts but it didn't do much to ease Eliot's frustration and restless nature. Even as a member of Nate's team, there had always been the option to just walk away whenever they wanted. No binding obligations.
He never had, finding that it felt pretty damn good to help out those who had been hurt by the big and powerful. There had been days when he'd considered walking after clashing with the others or thinking back to the days where he worked alone. But he stayed to help Nate, to help the others, for the challenge and, though he'd never admit it, the team dynamic and the dysfunctional family feel.
At least Parker was here. A familiar face was helping. Not much but her presence was helping.
Now he was on his third wandering of the city for the day, taking a different path than the last two times. It beat spending time cooped up in his apartment. Not that he didn't appreciate downtime once in a while but that had been what most of his time was spent on lately. The last thing he needed to do, as Parker got him thinking, was go soft.
Those scientists got off easily. "This is ridiculous," he muttered.
