There were certain perks to being a vampire that Kit had never gotten to experience in his human lifetime; rapid healing, super speed, the usual gifts that came with immortality. Less known were the small, subtle things that were somewhat personal to each of the undead. In Kit's case, it was tea. Being born in the Victorian era, where afternoon tea came into vogue for the upper classes, he had always been curious as to what it had tasted like. He had managed to steal acquire weak, shoddily made blends during his criminal escapades but that was as far as it went before being given the immortal gift. Once he was free to move in better social circles than he had been born into, largely thanks to his upper class sire, he finally got to experience the curiosity of tea for himself. As he had suspected, he had fallen in love almost instantly.
It was something that still gave him a sliver of joy, despite the newness of the experience having long worn off. As time had moved on, humans had grown more inventive. Kit, wholeheartedly conforming to the British stereotype of being an avid tea drinker, had watched the progression eagerly. Even now, over a century later, the scent of brewing tea was one of his favourite smells and he often indulged in a morning cup before sleeping after a long night of performing. That was why, when a little tea van had popped up seemingly out of nowhere, the vampire had been more than a little intrigued.
Despite not being shy in the slightest, Kit had yet to approach the owner of the trailer. Talk around the Cirque had informed him that its proprietor was yet another of the Kemp sisters, a human girl named Mona, who had very little experience with the supernatural save for her familial connections. It was this fact that prevented Kit from boldly approaching the van as he might typically have done. That, and the still unexplained events surrounding the Cirque that was keeping everybody on edge. The last thing a human would need was a vampire hanging around and making things worse. So Kit had kept to the shadows, allowing himself a few moments each night to savour the enticing scents that drifted from the van that, for some reason he couldn't quite explain, calmed him down enough for him to think clearly and feel relaxed.
That night was no different; Kit wandered over as soon as the sun set, careful to remain out of the van's direct line of sight. He casually rested against a nearly tent pillar, arms folded across his chest as he watched the youngest Kemp set up for the night, and he allowed the now familiar scent of the tea trailer to work its magic.
