Entry tags:character: buffy summers, character: lucius anguis (dropped), location: anguis house (dropped), thread: complete, |week: 05, ~date: 08/august 06

Who: Lucius and Buffy, possibly Evie at some point as well?
Where: Lucius' Evil Lair of Doom
When: Week 5, Tuesday, Afternoon
Why: Buffy's sneaked out because Ambrose won't let her be a martyr hero to save her best friend's souuuul
Warning: TBD, language, possibly violence

Buffy stared up at the door to Daniel's Evil Lair of Doom, her green eyes narrowed in what she assured herself was steely determination. She had convinced herself that this confrontation, whatever it entailed, was something that she had to do both for Daniel and for Evie. And maybe, somewhere inside, she wanted it for herself too. She was afraid of what she'd find, but it wasn't something she could run from anymore.

Ambrose hadn't been on board, and that made it all the harder to do what she was doing. She wasn't happy to be openly doing something he'd expressly asked her not to do, but he didn't understand. It wasn't just her job as the Slayer to protect people; it was her job as Daniel's friend to help snap him out of whatever evil funk that he'd convinced himself he was dancing to now.

And so she'd waited until Ambrose had had something to do, something that would actually get him out of the house for a while. In spite of him not being the most social of vampires, he'd found something to do the very next day, and her chance had come sooner than she would have liked. She knew he'd be upset, and it wasn't like she'd be able to hide it from him. Still, she knew that she was doing the right thing. She knew she was doing what she had to do, and she'd deal with the fallout that inevitably came with it when it happened.

So, there she was. Staring up at the expansive door like it alone was the demon she had to slay. Closing her eyes, she drew a deep breath and rapped on the door.

Buffy wasn't sure if she believed that he would actually do it or not, but she knew that she had to find out. She believed in him, but that didn't mean she wasn't tired and scared. She didn't notice the knife, but then again observation before action had always been a struggle for her. She was far too exhausted physically and emotionally to pay attention to those details now.

"Maybe it is," she answered, anger in the way she spoke even though she wasn't yelling anymore. "Show me what you're capable of."

Well I do need to heal my arm somehow... and it is her fault a voice whispered in his ear, rationalizing harming the only person from his past that hadn't betrayed him. Could he bring himself to do it, to show her what was now normal practice for him?

"Very well, come with me" Lucius smiled darkly, he had to taste the power that her blood held. She was practically begging him to do it anyway and there was no point in wasting it. He turned around and headed through the door towards his usual ritual space.

Buffy wondered what his game was, watching him with a wary eye as he walked through the door, beckoning her to follow. Of course actually following would be a terrible idea to end all the terrible ideas she'd ever had, but she needed to know. She needed to see what he was capable of doing to somebody that he'd cared about once. And that was why she eventually followed him through the door with her head held high.

"So, is this where you sacrifice the goats, or is there a special room for that?" she asked, sounding a little bit more feisty now that she couldn't afford to be afraid as she looked around the room. "Where do I stand? Sorry. New to this whole blood sacrifice thing."

"It's better if you kneel, in the center of the circle" Lucius told her, gesturing to the spot as he lit the candles around the outside of the circle. No doubt she would think that he was joking, right now though he was most certainly not.

He had been running low on power for the last couple of days and had been resisting the temptation until he was sure that Evie was well enough for it. She had not been sleeping well and that was concerning.

Buffy stepped into the center of the circle, but she crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow at him as he mentioned kneeling. "Really? Kneel in the center of the circle, huh? Where did you get this? Blood Sacrifice for Dummies 101?" Eventually, she did kneel, if only to humor the situation with a roll of her eyes. Humor was most definitely her coping mechanism.

"Dear God, please let mommy get me that pony I want and let me not mess up at my tap-dancing recital this week and help me to give the bestest blood sacrifice in the whole, wide world to whatever demonic entity will take it today. Amen," she couldn't help but snark as she knelt there waiting.

It amused him no end to see Buffy actually comply and it gratified him to have her kneeling at his feet at last. If only it were really in submission and not just to goad him. Still he would treasure the image at least.

"Hold out your wrist" Lucius told her calmly as he unsheathed his knife and approached her and began to mutter under his breath.

"Spiritus abysso huc vocatus et omnes, potissimum, Lucifer ut tenebras faciat mihi cogitationes canunt, tum per universum, tinniant. A Domino ad inferos misit me tenebris tuis"

Buffy had to struggle very hard not to look a little scared now. She looked up at him, suddenly allowed herself to look every bit as worried as she felt beneath the bravado and humor. She held up her wrist, forcing herself to look him in the eye has he muttered the words.

"You're not going to do it. I don't believe you'll do it," she insisted, her voice wavering a little bit. She wasn't sure if she was trying to convince herself or him.

"Oh, my dear Buffy. You do not have even the slightest inkling of exactly what I am capable of" Lucius chuckled darkly, taking hold of her wrist - too consumed by his lust for power and his craving for the darkness he was about to receive to be able to stop himself now.

Slowly and deliberately he ran the blade across her wrist, the cut was slightly deeper than necessary to draw blood but he wanted a steady flow. Healing a fractured bone was not cheap and he might as well recharge himself fully whilst he was there.

The moment the blade was pressed to Buffy's skin the dark power it had contained hit him, causing an almighty and carnal rush to envelop his being. Lucius had expected Buffy's blood to be more potent but this... the power felt orgasmic, like the rush he had gotten the first time he had done this. The day he had killed his mother.

Buffy's face contorted partially from the slow cut. The rest was a look twisted with disbelief and the pain that came from it as the blood surged forward spilling from the wound. She'd not yet lost enough blood to be dizzy, but her head was swimming as she looked up at Lucius in pained shock.

She could feel the power that surged forward to some degree, as she was the source of it, and her soul was tied to a mystical power of some sort that was stronger than she knew. It wasn't right. None of it felt right. She thought to jerk her hand away too late, as she was somewhat weak from either the energies of the ritual or the emotional fatigue of the day's events. As it was, she found that she couldn't muster enough strength to pull it away. It was in her hazy mind, Ambrose's words from earlier rang loud and clear.

Even if he stabbed you, you would still give him the benefit of the doubt, wouldn't you?

Seeing her in pain and shock like this was not particularly pleasing to Lucius. Never before had he felt compelled to harm her and he wouldn't have if it hadn't been for his damned arm. Even now though it did not feel right to do this to her, although he felt no guilt from his actions as such.

"I never wanted it to come to this" Lucius murmured as he drained Buffy, he decided to take enough to make her compliant enough once he was done so that she would actually stay and rest. She would only go and get herself hurt. When he was finished he placed his hand over the cut her had made and healed it so that not a single blemish remained. He then did the same to his own arm and it's burst capillaries and fractured bone.

Buffy remained kneeling, snatching her wrist back quickly enough that it made her head spin. How much blood had he taken? She rubbed her wrist absentmindedly as she stared straight ahead, seeming to be lost in thought. Honestly, she felt lost period.

Eventually, she tried to stand, stubborn until the end and stumbling slightly as she did so. She should've been sitting, but she was damned if she'd do what she was supposed. When she turned her head to look up at Lucius, she just seemed tired.

"Is this what you do to her?" she asked simply.

Lucius considered ignoring her question but decided he might as well answer. She already knew really, only it probably wasn't as bad as what she might imagine.

"Only once so far, when I had her marked. It seemed a shame to waste her blood and without doing so I could not have healed her instantly. She would have had to let it heal mostly naturally and risk infection" Lucius told Buffy dispassionately as he swept her up into his arms.

"You need to rest, you just healed a broken arm. It seemed only fair that it Evie should not be the one to fix what you broke"

Buffy struggled pointlessly when she was scooped up, sufficiently drained enough to not make much of an impact. She didn't want to rest. She was done here for the time being. She didn't know what to think about any of it, but she knew she needed a lot of time to do that. With the amount of time she'd probably be spending locked in a room after Ambrose found out about all of this, she'd probably get said time soon enough.

"I-I have to go home. Ambrose'll be worried. And angry. But mostly worried until I come back," she said. "I can walk. Let me go!"

No doubt Ambrose would try to kill him later but with the amount of power he had just received and the fact that he had to be invited inside meant that Lucius was not worried.

"No you can't. Both myself and Ambrose want you to return in one piece, so you must rest for now" Lucius said firmly, even in such a vulnerable state Buffy was as stubborn as ever. Typical Buffy.

"I'm really mad at you," Buffy added, the comment kind of sudden and random. "For serious mad. This is so not cool. You violated like at least seven different parts of the friend code. I don't know if there's an official code, but there has to be if there's a codex for the mating habits of nineteen sub-species of tree demons. And I'm going to be all kinds of scary angry when I wake up from the super long nap I'm going to take." She didn't stop to think how vaguely drunk she probably sounded as she was carried.

"Can you let him know I'm okay, though? He'll worry. He always worries," she muttered drowsily, not yet ready to pass out but finding the option tempting all the same.

"Mad at me for doing what you asked? That's a new one" Lucius chuckled slightly as he carried her to his room and laid her down on the bed. He had missed Buffy Babble with all her little quirks and weird imagination and even though he wanted to send her away for her own sake, he could not help but wish she could remain here with him. That things might have worked out differently.

"I shall inform him the moment you have fallen asleep" Lucius assured her, not willing to risk her running off whilst in this state.

"I didn't think you'd actually do it," she muttered with a distinct pout that would be reminiscent of all the times Daniel had beaten her in sparring matches. "Jerk."

The bed was comfortable, and in her state, Buffy wasn't in a place to exactly think about whose bed it was. She instinctively rolled onto her side, curling up into a little, protective ball where she was still able to watch him before she fell asleep.

"I can't stop you right now, but I'm gonna bring you back. I'm not dumb. I know you think I am, but I'm not," she said softly, sounding younger than she usually did. "But until that happens, don't hurt Evie. When you need blood, you can have mine. Just don't hurt her anymore." Her eyes started fluttered as she felt herself drifting off. "And tell him. You promised." She held up a pinkie for the pinkie swears she always required for real promises. Sadly, Buffy fell asleep before she ever realized whether or not Lucius had taken it.

If any part of his heart was still intact it would have broken at her words. Try as he might Lucius could not detach himself from his past. From Buffy. He wanted to protect her from it all, to keep her safe and make her happy but too much had changed. There was no going back to how things were. He didn't take her pinkie but he nevertheless kept his promise to her and took out his Journal to write something to Ambrose for Buffy's sake.
