Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:character: allison argent, character: emerson dewitt, character: eterna westenra (dropped), character: kenzi (dropped), location: westenra estate (dropped), thread: complete, |week: 02, ~date: 07/july 18

Who: Emerson, Eterna, and Allison with a chance of Kenzi!
Where: Eterna's Home
When: Week 2, Thursday Evening
Why: Emerson told Allison that he and Eterna play Scrabble every other Thursday, and he aims to prove that Emerson DeWitt never tells a lie.
Warning: Language, The Eterna Factor, discussion of slavery, TBA

Emerson flicked a cigarette butt somewhere into the woods that surrounded Eterna's mansion, sure to extinguish it lest he be responsible for the second, greatest forest fire to ever grace Crescent Hills' history. As he jogged up to the front steps, the Scrabble board game tucked under one arm, yawned, cracking his neck before knocking loudly on the front door. He was clad in the appropriate attire for the occasion, which just so happened to be the hobo-chic attire he wore to nearly every occasion.

Part of him was kind of curious to see how Eterna's new addition handled herself. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't hate the vampire. It was actually the opposite. He had fun being around her because she was the most entertaining person to, well, torment with splendor that was Emerson DeWitt. He imagined it wasn't quite the same for those she actually purchased to be her slaves. Maybe he'd be able to at least give them a little break, though he imagined it would be worse if he actually beat their mistress at the game.

"Then good luck." She nodded, leaning up to kiss Emerson's cheek, wanting to show Eterna she could be nice - just not necessarily to her. "I'll hope you win." She crouched down again, resting against Emerson again.

Eterna studied her letters: N, L, D, E, K, S and I for a few minutes before a smile curled around her lips and she made her first move - the word 'slinked', using all 7 tiles and getting a double letter score on the K. It was a decent move that gave her 84 points which was not to be sniffed at really.

She looked up at Emerson with a smirk and took 7 more tiles from the bag.

"Your turn, darling" she lent back, observing the two. It was interesting to see how her slave interacted with Emerson, at least she was behaving herself.

Emerson smiled at Allison for the good luck, taking a long look at his own letters before he noticed Eterna placing hers. He stared at the board, narrowing his eyes before looking back up at Eterna.

"And you say I'm the cheater. How the fuck?" he swore, looking at his own tiles. R, F, X, L, B, A, and Q. Shrugging, he set the tiles down to spell "bald" with the last letter using her D. "I'm gonna need some more luck looks like."

Allison worked hard to not roll her eyes at Eterna - she didn't want her to win. As bad as it would be for her, she didn't want her to win. Just to wipe the smug look off her face, at least. She leant up again, leaning into Emerson's ear, not looking at Eterna once. "You could put the X under the E, sir... I think that would be seventeen points next round, unless you have better tiles." She kelt again, her eyes flicking to Eterna for a second, before looking away again.

"I have a brain, darling, I apologise if that gives me an advantage over you" Eterna chuckled as she looked at her letters; D,U,I,W,H,I & R.

It wasn't exactly the best combination of letters but she found a way to use up 4 of her tiles by placing 'whid' horizontally with the 'H' beneath the 'S' of 'slinked'. Due to the combination of 'whid', 'sh', 'li' and 'id' the move gave her a modest 27 points to add to her score, giving her a total of 111.

She took 4 more tiles from the bag as she watched Allison, it was pathetic really how the girl thought she could irritate her in this way. The whole point of owning the bitch was to toy with her and broken toys are less fun.

"You know me, Eterna," Emerson started with a lazy grin. He took a long drink of his bourbon. "I'd sell my brain for a good drink."

Mostly, the game was a social thing, genuinely social. Emerson probably could've been doing better, but what was the point? Repeatedly showing off your smarts just insured that you threw all your cards on the table at the same time, thus giving everyone ample time to prepare something in response.

Emerson placed the 'x' under the 'e' of 'slinked', following Allison's suggestion. It was probably a good idea to get rid of that 'x' early.

Allison smiled as her suggestion was listened to, but counting up Eterna's score so far, she was getting frustrated that the women was winning.

"At least give him a chance!" She snapped, rolling her eyes at the board, getting frustrated.

"If you ever had a brain to begin with, I am sure that you did sell it for a drink, Emerson" Eterna teased, more than a little amused at Allison's frustration. She could be sporting and tone down her skill level but Eterna didn't believe in doing anything by halves, it had been Emerson's choice of game after all and so she didn't feel guilty in the slightest for slaughtering him at it.

Eterna placed a 'y' to the right of the 'b' in 'bald' and paused for a moment before continuing. She spelt out 'Juicy' and received a triple word score for her efforts giving her an additional 67 points.

"Playing fair, what a human notion" Eterna chuckled

"Pick your battles," Emerson advised, looking at Allison. "Losing Scrabble this badly, though a dent to my swollen ego, is but a flash in the pan." Hopefully the game wouldn't bother the girl too much. He'd hate for her to land herself in trouble, especially when he was just relaxing and having a bit of fun with it.

He selected three more tiles, setting an 'R' above the 'I' in 'slinked' and an 'E' after 'D' of 'id.' It wasn't much of a word, but it was something.

"I'm convinced that my parents sold my brain to the gypsies for good crops one year," he responded further with a grin.

Allison fell quiet, appreciating that Emerson was trying to give her advice - appreciating that one of them could be kind to her was always a difficulty for her, but taking a deep breath, she just nodded, trying to change her tactics.

"That's an... interesting word." She muttered, glancing at Emerson, before looking down again, and blushing.

Purely for the amusement factor she placed a 'p' above 'ride' and went across from their and joined 'pasta' with the a in 'bald'. Eterna wondered silently if Allison would get that she was making a dig at her now that she had edited the word she had found so amusing.

It seemed to Emerson that Allison and Eterna were having a sort of conversation via the Scrabble board, though his own participation hadn't been intentional. He shook his head, deciding against mentioning it as he placed an 'O, C, and K' after the 'H' in 'sh'.

"Hey, I go with what the tile gods give me."

Allison stared at Eterna, knowing what she was doing, before lowering her eyes again, the jibe being one she wished she could ignore. The bitch took away her pride plenty, she didn't want to address that.

"I know." She muttered, standing to refill Emerson's glass, before sitting a little further away from the two at last. She was quickly finding that having her presence required and being ignored was even more frustrating than being the centre of attention.

"The tile gods clearly do not like you very much" Eterna chuckled as she placed her own letters down. It wasn't even close to the best she could do but it amused her to lay down 'spank' joining onto the k of shock.

She could see that Allison was getting frustrated by being ignored, soon the girl would be seriously wanting some attention - of any kind. Eterna hadn't decided yet whether or not she would oblige

Emerson set more tiles on the board before responding, spelling 'mange' with the 'a' in 'spank'.

"Uh, just to clarify. There's not subtext there. I literally just had the tiles for mange," he piped up, not wanting to be mistaken for speaking their quiet language.

"Allison shot a look at Eterna at her last word, saying nothing, and hugging herself, looking out the window rather than focusing on the game any more. She shrugged at Emerson's words, and sighed.

"The tile gods disagree" Eterna chuckled as she placed 'zeds' around the 'e' in mange, no longer bothering with the silent jibes and instead merely wanting the triple word score to herself.

Emerson leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he glared at his tiles. He thought about using magic to change his luck, but as it stood he wasn't looking to be doing too well with or without it.

"You don't mind if I ask her for help, do you?" Emerson asked Eterna, gesturing to Allison with a lazy grin. "I mean, with the both of us, we just might have a slight chance."

The attention being turned onto her again, Allison moved over to the board, looking over the letters that were available to her, before she moved the W, H, I, E and S underneath 'spank' to create 'whines' also making 'sh', 'pi', 'ne' and 'shocks'. She blushed at the choice of first word, but counted up the score rather than looked up. "Fifty-three, sir." She said quietly.

"Not bad, pet. Perhaps it is you that I should be playing and not this half-DeWitt" Eterna both praised her slave and teased Emerson, she was pleased to see that the girl had a sharp mind after all despite her stupidity at times.

Eterna then made her own word adding 'equy' vertically underneath the 'ex' making 'exequy'. The word wasn't actually aimed at Allison this time although it could be misconstrued as such. Still, the word gained her 50 points regardless.

"Ouch, Eterna. I can appreciate a good play on the name," he replied with a smirk and a drink. Seriously, he wouldn't have willingly spent time with Eterna if he wasn't prepared for multiple, verbal stab wounds to whatever remained of his dwindling pride. He also thrived on being the underdog, which required one to take shots to the pride on a daily basis.

He chose a few more tiles, raising an eyebrow at his good fortune. He set the tiles 'D, E, M, R, and E' down, using the 'U' in 'Exequy' to spell 'Demure'.

He then completely ruined what he was sure was his first, non-four-letter word by grinning at Allison and asking, "So, how many points is that?"

"Twenty, I think." She nodded, smiling slightly. She could've probably found a better place for the word, but she was already thankful that he was being kind to her, so she didn't want to say anything to irritate him. She pressed herself into his side, comfortable, and looked over the tiles he had left, already trying to work out where the next move could go.

Eterna smiled and shook her head at Emerson, she always enjoyed his company due to his laid-back nature and the fact that he was a good sport. It would seem that Allison was also rather enjoying his company.

She smiled as she saw how she could use her tiles and placed 'Firer' using the 'r' in 'Demure' as the first 'r'. The 'e' was formed using a blank tile piece, the points for 'Firer', 'Ef', 'Qi' & 'Ye' in total were 58 points.

"Eh, 20's better than most of my other numbers," he replied with a lazy wave of his hand. He pretend to be annoyed by the number of points Eterna had made with his word, though. He gestured to the board.

"Clearly I should let the much more intelligent one of us take this word. She's better at it than I am," Emerson continued with another drink. They all would be having a slightly not-horrible time, if he could help it. Allison seemed less miserable than before, and that was a good thing. He got along with Eterna just fine, but that didn't mean he shared the same sentiment when it came to a slave's treatment.

Allison blushed at the compliment, feeling almost confused at how comfortable this whole thing felt. She looked at the tiles, biting her lip as nothing looked as though it could give a good word, and she didn't want to let Emerson down. A second later, she placed 'fee' underneath whines, giving 'we' and 'she', counting up to 23 points. They were still trailing behind, but she sat back, glancing at Eterna.
