In Small, Quiet Moments

When: Immediately after Asgard's meeting
Where: Their room
Rating: PG
Warnings: Standard romance
Summary: Kain brings Blythe a present for her 21st birthday.
While Kain had offered to meet up privately with Blythe following the meeting, she hadn't given it too much thought. She was fully aware her birthday was the day of that meeting, but she hadn't ever made mention about it to Kain outside of light and casual conversation. Therefore, she never put two and two together.
Focusing more on the events of the day, Blythe had given her input during Asgard's gathering and remained as open-minded as she could, given the topics of discussion. Her fiance had managed the meeting perfectly, and she couldn't help but admire the commander in him. It showed, and impeccably so. But when everything was said and done, she cleared out of the room like the rest of Asgard's members did and returned to her room. If Kain needed to find her and discuss something of a personal matter with her, she had no intention of going far.
Now that the meeting was over, she had many things to consider - particularly how these changes would affect the environment for their child - but she knew those thoughts could wait. Her thoughts hardly strayed from concern over the safety of the baby. Sighing, slightly dreary, she opened the windows to their room. Blythe couldn't see the sun or the gardens, but she could feel the hot air and the small turns of wind. Storms were far in the distance, she could sense it. Tonight the windows would stay open, because the sound of rain helped her sleep when most other things only made matters worse.
Her birthday. Today was her twenty-first birthday. The oracle couldn't believe it, though she felt she'd lived twice as many years as that. The demons she'd been raised with had never celebrated birthdays. Only the humans had taken some pride in the turning of the seasons, the welcoming of new years. She'd never taken part in those celebrations, not even in Asgard. Seating herself on the spare bed, knowing they would have to remove it soon to make room for a small nursery, she sighed and waited patiently for Kain to enter.
