New Ministry Reforms Begin

The awaited report from the much newly appointed Wizengamot disclosed this evening the results of their first week of deliberation on Minister Thicknesse’s approved and wide-reaching social reforms meant to revitalize Wizarding Britain.
A full list of the new reforms has been made available through the Department of Records, but The Daily Prophet has the highlights.
Thicknesse has stated that these reforms establish a clear restructuring and conceptualizing of many Ministry departments, and as such are being carried out systematically at all levels of the Ministry. The first wave of reforms affects the Department of International Magical Cooperation and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in majority, and deals more harshly with underage magic and illegitimately used magic.
“As you know, there are those among us who do not have the skill or the right to practice magic, as doing so may cause harm to themselves or to others, and the new regulations see to harsher punishments in those cases,” Wizengamot leader Dolores Umbridge said.
The Wizengamot began another closed door session this afternoon, with the aim of reforms in the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
One question that has been raised is the fate of Hogwarts and the student witches and wizards therein.
“It’s ridiculous,” Minister Thicknesse said, “That anyone thinks the Ministry does not have the same level of control it has always had at Hogwarts. Things are running there as they always have done, and I intend to make it my personal mission that the eccentricities of Hogwarts’ Headmaster do not interfere with the education of our children.”
In other news, plans to establish a new identification system at the Ministry are underway, and will be in place by the end of the week.
