WHO: Lacey Morris and Lochan Madan
WHEN: July 2nd
WHERE: Lochan's apartment above the bookstore
SUMMARY: Apologies, discussions, Kavya
WARNINGS: None.
Lacey knew that some of the comments she'd made were out of line. Although she hadn't in the moment, once she had left and cooled down, she did regret some of the things she'd said. She didn't much like surprises, least of all one in the form of a pretty girl who was also clearly interested in the same guy that she was interested in. And while she was not going to be scared away, or back down that easily, she at least needed to know what Lochan wanted. So, prepared with an apology, Lacey went to his apartment again. She climbed the stairs and knocked on the door. If he wasn't home, she was prepared to wait however long she needed. Head-throbbing and hands bandaged, Lochan rejoiced when his last regular called off their appointment. He had time to buy treats for his Guinea Pig before the store closed, something he should have done months ago. Little Anthony would be happier with him now. Walking up the metal stairs on the side of the bookstore to his apartment, Lochan made it halfway before he noticed Lacey waiting at his door. Clearing his throat, he waved. “Am I getting another check up?” After it had become apparent that the door wasn't going to be opened immediately, Lacey had sat down on the top step to wait. But when she saw Lochan start coming up the stairs, she stood, brushing off the backs of her legs. Returning his wave with a smile, she noted the bandaged hands. "That wasn't the original plan, but what happened to your hands?" “I fell in the river a couple days ago.” Lochan shrugged, not wanting to explain it too much with how he reacted to Kavya last time. Opening the door, he let Lacey enter the apartment first. The small bag of Guinea Pig treats would be set on the counter for later. For an introvert that only really left the house when his best friends pulled him out, he had had an awful lot of visitors in the last month. “What was your original plan?” "Speaking as the queen of accidental injury, that's pretty impressive," Lacey said, stepping into Lochan's apartment. But once they were both inside, she hesitated, looking down at the floor briefly. Despite it being part of the reason she was here, it was still hard to actually apologize. Scratching the back of her neck, she looked back up at him. "I came here to apologize. Some of the things I said when… I met Kavya were a little out of line. This might come as a surprise to you--" she flashed him a teasing half-smile "-- but I don't always think before saying or doing things. So… I'm sorry." A smirk graced his lips. “You don’t have to apologize to me, Lacey. I wasn’t insulted, just… I didn’t know what to say to any of it.” "Hey, I don't apologize often, just accept that you're being graced with one of the few." She smirked right back at him. "I was out of line, so I'm apologizing. I feel like I'm growing as a person just standing here." Ok, so maybe the person she should be apologizing to was Kavya, but Lacey wasn't growing that much. Leaning against the counter, he adjusted the bandages on his palms as she apologized. “I think you and Kavya could be good friends. She’s been here a year and hasn’t really met a lot of people, but she’s very smart and gentle.” Lochan would not focus on the apology. As a person who also did not apologize easily, no matter his religious views of Karma, he understood it was difficult when the subject stayed in focus. “Would you like a beer or cider?” Usually he would offer wine as well, but that seemed to be a current area where he would get himself in trouble while drinking it. "I don't think she… approves of me." It wasn't anything Lacey hadn't dealt with before: people (especially other girls) who judged her immediately because she was forward and flirty, and because she enjoyed sex. It wasn't anything that particularly bothered her, she didn't care about being universally-liked, it was just a fact. "But sure… I'll have whichever you're having?" Grabbing two hard ciders, Lochan set them on the kitchen bar that looked into the living room. “I don’t think it’s about approving or disapproving, she’s from a traditional family from the homeland we have strict ideals there, even my mother who is not entirely traditional pushes them on us. You know how much work I had to go through to allow Amita to have private dates with Bishop?” It was a rhetorical question as he opened the bottle and started to drink his. “She’s really a great person, if you give her a chance- and it was a strange first impression, so-” He shrugged, having said enough on it for his own comfort. After Kavya’s reading in the park, Lochan sat uncertain on how to proceed with either of the girls because he was blind to any desires to change either relationship to something of a serious nature. Taking her bottle, Lacey opened it and took a sip. She knew there were cultures that were strict and traditional like that, she just hadn't really thought about it being so big here. She wondered what Lochan thought of it, if he wanted someone who was more traditional. Then again, she didn't even know if she wanted anything more serious with him, herself. She enjoyed the time she was spending with him… but had an absolutely terrible history of relationships. But that didn't mean she would just step aside and let Kavya (or someone else) swoop in… unless that was what he wanted. "I would be happy to get to know her better, if she wanted to get to know me better." Lacey generally tried to stay open-minded and non-judgemental about other girls. “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind. Kavya is a sweetheart.” Lochan would not address serious relationships. He did not believe either of the girls would even want a serious relationship with him as he was blinded by circumstances around their friendships. Seeing ghosts, reading futures, that all seemed natural and easy compared to dating. |
