WHO: Clea Cox & Alexi Weiss.
WHEN: Backdated:: 6/6th
WHERE: the Park
SUMMARY: Sleeping in a no sleeping zone
WARNINGS: Lying to the Popo?
Skillful dodging of his mother’s questions about his living situation, Alexi stretched out in the back of his car. What would he have to worry about a murderer out and about? To anyone looking at it from the outside, whoever murdered the actress wanted to recreate what the movie was trying to. Not being part of the film crew, Alexi could say that he would not be a target unless he saw something the murderer did not want him to. So far he was safe. His old car hummed as the engine cooled. The little park was the perfect place for the night allowing a perfect view of the clear night sky. Sleep fell upon the wanderer quickly. Clea was on her way back to the station for the rest of her shift after responding to a call when she noticed a lone car in a parking lot. The only problem was, that car wasn’t supposed to be there -- there was a specific no overnight parking sign, and unfortunately, Clea had to be the one to inform this citizen of that fact. Casually, she pulled into the parking lot and up to the car. “Hi,” she knocked on the window. “I’m Officer Cox. I’m really sorry but you can’t sleep here.” Being a light sleeper, Alexi grumbled to partly awake when he heard the car pull beside his own. The alertness came when she knocked on the window and announced herself as a cop. “Scheiße,” he murmured, repositioning himself to be able to roll down the window. Manual control of windows had always been important because it allowed a greater control of escape if needed when cars went crazy or happened to end up in lakes- once or twice. Scratching his mess of hair sleepily, Alexi smiled up at the officer. “Good evening,” he started. “I was just resting my eyes because driving while exhausted is unsafe.” “It is,” she nodded sympathetically. “Do you think you are able to drive now? I can recommend a few places that don’t have overnight parking restrictions.” Surprise briefly passed his expression, he had not thought that would work. Small towns with interfering tourists and film crews and murders, still completely accepted a young guy sleeping in a car as a safe driving technique. He’d have to use it more often. Crawling to an upright position, he continued to smile at the woman. “It’s too beautiful a place to have a parking restriction. Reminds me of Iceland with all the stars you can see out here.” Clea noticed this, as a trained professional and also skilled lip reader, she was very good at recognizing emotions on people’s faces, even when they tried to hide it, even when they didn’t last very long. “They are beautiful,” she allowed herself a brief smile, glancing up, before going to back to business. “Look, again, I’m sorry, but I need you to move your car, or I’ll have to write you a ticket.” A ticket really would not work, considering his German driver’s license and lack of IDP. With a sigh, he leaned his head back against the driver’s seat. “So, recommendations for overnight parking? Or non-motel places to stay for the night?” Alexi knew he likely would not stay anywhere. No matter what his mother said, he enjoyed the freedom and rent free pricing of staying in his car. It was not for everyone and could be a hard-life but with his get-up-and-go personality and ability to jury-rig needed accommodations, he barely noticed the lack of ‘stuff’ that came with such a life. “Mitzi’s is open twenty-four hours, and my family owns the Feed and Seed. If you park there, I’ll make sure no one tows you,” Clea offered a small smile and a slip of paper with both of those places’ addresses written down. “Be safe.” “Yes, Dame,” he nodded. “Officer.” Alexi had been to enough small towns in Europe to know that anyone in that town likely also had family that owned a store. “You’re family been here a long time?” He asked playfully. Clea laughed. “We’re kind of an institution in Fall City, yeah.” “Ah, an institution… I thought you said they owned a Feed shop?” Alexi understood what she meant, but there was fun to be had when he let his accent thicken up. And the officer was pretty enough to not mind the legal company. “Oh, we do,” she assured him, eyes widening a bit in embarrassment for confusing him. “An institution as in our family has lived in Fall City for a long time!” She laughed nervously, cheeks still tinged red. “Ooooh. Okay. I should head over to the Institution then,” he said turning his car on and grinning at the Officer. “Do you need directions?” She asked, and then shook her head, waving her hand. “I’m gonna give you directions, anyway.” Quickly, Clea jotted them down on her notepad and handed the paper to Alexi. “If you get lost, feel free to call the sheriff’s department, or pull over and ask anyone, really. Please be safe, okay? And get some sleep.” “Danke. Have a good night, Officer.” He had been trying to get some sleep in the beauty of the park, but then having a direct order to park and sleep in a store parking lot was not as bad as it could have been. |
