I got SIX bites and I don't know for sure but I don't think they're supposed to be turning purple. Is that a bad thing?

But I am really damn professional, let me tell you that. I should get a raise for finishing that VIP tour and keeping the Wizard Congress types all mostly blood-spatter free. Who do I talk to about that?

Thanks to everyone who's stopped by to check on us after our tragic loss this weekend. Anaru was one of the gentlest creatures in the enclosure. His mate isn't taking it well, so I've been spending a lot of time with her and their baby, who is miraculously on the mend. (Thanks to our brilliant healers!) Colleagues in New Zealand have suggested we name him Manaaki, which I think is more than appropriate.

For those I haven't had a chance to tell in person (sorry - as you can see, this weekend was hectic)...I wanted to tell you that I'm 16 weeks pregnant, due in late August. I told my boss today. I'm not planning to make a big public announcement or anything, but it's officially no longer a secret.

Yes, Tony, this means you're officially allowed to make sure everyone in town knows you're going to be an uncle.
