RP: It's Party Time
Who: James, Dylan, Albus, all the people invited who want to show up. Please add your tags
Where: Their flat
When: 29 August, 2009
Rating/Warnings:
Summary: It's time for drinks and conversations
Status: Private | Complete

James had managed to get off from work a little earlier and had rushed home to make sure that they had everything ready. There was plenty of finger food, set up on different trays that they put in different corners of the living room. The table had been reserved for booze and there was lots of it from firewhiskey to cognac to anything in between. The beer and vodka was in large vats filled with ice. There was music playing on the background, but not too loud that people couldn't talk.

They had moved the furniture around. There was some magic involved, and the room was made bigger. They also had to transfigure some of the furniture so that they could have more chairs and couches, but in the end everything was perfect.

By the time people arrived, everything was set up. Now, it was time to enjoy the party.

(OOC: James has left the door ajar after opening it for Rose. People can come in and out and just talk to each other)

"Well, aren't you just the responsible one," he teased, toasting James with his drink. "It's been fun so far. We work well together, Dom and I. Compliment each other well." It had been different working with someone behind the bar, but he thought he and Dom were getting along quite well.

And wasn't that just convenient. He knew he didn't know James well, or Dylan or the brother, but they were friends of Min's, and he knew of them. And Ben had always thought that things happened for a reason, and clearly the Universe was trying to tell him that there was a reason beyond getting drunk or being at this party tonight.

"Ever thought of a house?" he asked, not at all subtle about dropping it into conversation. "Renting, I mean. A doer-upper with a few mates, just outside London. Lots of privacy." He threw in that last bit since James seemed so concerned about the press.

"On rare occasion," he said with a smile. "Mostly, I know my grandmother and she will hex me if something happens to someone." He had no doubt that she was the one to fear in the family.

"Do you mean in general, in abstract, or what?" he asked, grinning. However, when he went on, James considered the offer. The word privacy had him on alert immediately. "What kind of privacy? How many rooms? How far from the road and how many spells can we cast?" The flat already had quite a few, but he liked to make sure that no one could get in. "I really don't want the press to get in, whether in human form, animagus, legal or illegal."

"In reality, actually. Only, I've found the perfect house but it needs a lot of work. And I can't live in it all on my own," he said, grinning as he swirled his drink around in the glass without spilling. "It's got seven bedrooms, but two are more suited for guest rooms. There's a kitchen and a couple of sitting rooms."

He hadn't thought much about spells, but they would definitely need some. "It's set a good ways back from the road, and the yard is large. There are neighbors, but the house itself is protected by hedges and a large grove of trees," he replied, taking a sip of his drink. "With the proper spell protection no one would even know we're there.' Which would be prefect, on full moon nights Dale wanted to stay at home.

"There's just one thing," he said, looking around. They were private enough, and no one would overhear, but he cast a slight privacy charm anyway. "My bestmate is a werewolf, and he'll be living there. So I need to find three people who won't be bothered by that."

James liked the idea, although he would double check with Dom about this bloke. It seemed almost too good to be true, especially considering how things were going lately. "I'd like to see it. Dylan and I are both Aurors, we don't have much time, but I'm sure we could put some money into fixing it to make up for the lack of time."

He listened and nodded. If they cast a confundo around the property and some other privacy spell, then they'd only have to worry about animagus, which might be more difficult with a large property. "I'll see what we can come up with spells. I'm sure that between me and Dylan can make sure that no one comes in."

James couldn't help but grin even if it probably wasn't the best response. "That's okay, I'm a wolf and Dylan is a dog. As long as he's on the potion, we're fine. He goes off the potion, and I'll report him myself to the Ministry. I won't let anyone get hurt."

Ben nodded. "My friend said he'd take care of arranging for the work. He's done a lot of house repair with his father and brothers in the summer, so he'll know what will need to be done," he said. "But the first two months rent are free, if we handle the repairs ourselves, so it's sort of a wash financially."

Ben grinned. "If you're free tomorrow we could go see the property. The estate agent said to just pop in anytime, and I have until the end of the week to let her know I'm interested," he said. This might be turning out to be another lucky night. "It's in Surrey, in a mostly Muggle neighborhood, so we'll need Ministry sanctioned anti-Muggle spells I'd think. Among other things."

He thought for a moment that James was a werewolf too, but then realized he meant he was an Animagus. "That's great. He was worried i wouldn't be able to find someone who would be accepting, but I knew I would. Things have a way of working out if you want them to." At least, they always had for Ben, to a large extent. At least when it came to things like housing, roommates, shagging and pets.

James didn't care so much about the money. The Aurors paid more than well and he'd been working for two years now. No, money was definitely not the issue, but everything else sounded pretty good. "As I said, we might not have as much time, but I'm sure that can be fixed some other way."

He shook his head. "I can't tomorrow, but Sunday would be perfect. If we like it, we can take it right then. Dylan and I can take care of the paperwork at the Ministry." He doubted anyone would say no if his request had a few more spells than usual.

"He takes the potion, then I don't see why we should have a problem," James reassured him. "All right, let me make sure that no one is getting in trouble, and I'll see you Sunday."
