RP: The Final Battle
Who: Everyone at Hogwarts and Death Eaters
Where: Hogwarts
When: 15 October, 2025
Summary: It's time to face the music

They gathered in the Great Hall at seven o'clock. Everyone was dressed in black robes, and they passed on the magical armbands that would allow them to recognise each other on the field. It would hopefully give them an advantage and protect some of the weaker members. When they were ready, the units began to trickle down onto the grounds and reach their positions. They used trees, rocks, fixtures and carriages to hide. The children were all in the trees by the wal, the same with the rear unit. They'd cast the spell on all of them to make sure that the werewolves wouldn't pick up their scent.

When finally they were all in their places, Severus created a hole in their defences, right by the gate, and then they waited as the sun appeared in the sky. They didn't have to wait long before the gates creaked open. From his position, Jamie couldn't tell who was who, but it didn't matter.

They waited with a patience that he didn't possess until all the Death Eaters had crossed the gates and only then, the dragons flew in the sky with the aerial team, keeping the Dementors occupied, while their troops move to attack, encircling the Death Eaters.

Thus the battle began.

Theo was not normally a fighter. Sure, he could duel and he knew more ancient Dark curses than most, but he'd never been in a battle. The last one had not concerned him, this one did. He wasn't fighting for the people in the castle, those - for the most part - he couldn't care less about. No he fought for revenge for Charlotte's death. For protecting all that was his. His family. His home. His way of life.

He didn't hesitate to use every dark spell he could think of. There was no time for the niceties, it was live and fight or die. Every spell out of his wand was lethal, and he tried to keep up as the Death Eaters swarmed the grounds around him.

He spotted the green light too late, and knew he'd failed to duck even before it hit him.

Bravery was not one of Katherine's strong suit, and from the time she'd found out about the battle she'd hated the idea of fighting. Not that she said a word about it, as much as she hated it, she stood among the rest, though she tried to stay behind the bigger and stronger men around her.

The chaos was what got to her most, and she couldn't deny the fear that surged through her, but also - surprisingly - a rush of adrenaline. She'd studied harder than ever before in her life since she got to Hogwarts again. Before defence had been theoretic, something which you didn't really need other than for the grades. She'd done everything she needed to get an O on her NEWTs, but from there to reality was a leap she'd never imagined. Now, when she trained, she didn't train to get a grade, but to survive, to be able to fight for herself. Which was what she was doing from behind the big man she'd hid behind when the blast hit.

She was on the outskirts of it, and as she fell, she felt a sharp pain to her side, a pain which was sharper than anything Walden had done to her. Panic at first, then a will to crawl away and hide - until she spotted him. Walden.

He was running back, firing hexes in one direction then the next. She watched - almost as if in slow motion - Mr Nott fall and knew he was dead. Her side was still aching, breathing itself hurt, but she'd lived through pain before, and if Walden had taught her anything it was ignoring it. Getting to her knees, she aimed and fired off the worst slashing hex she'd learnt, hoping to hit his gut. She didn't hit his gut, but she did hit, and she would have kept going if it wasn't for the fact that her view of him was obscured.

Annoyed, she ducked and moved out of the way, crawling to the relative safety of the trees while clutching her side. She might want to hurt Walden, kill him even if she could manage, but she wasn't about to die trying. She knew her limitations, and a fighter she was not. She'd stay here, with an eye out, and if she got another chance she'd take it.

Blood, pain, killing.

Walden was having a grand time!

Well, no, not really. The bastards had set a trap for them, spoiling the plans, and he was bored as fuck because there was no time to play. Point and kill. Point and kill. It had it's good points, of course. There was a certain high one could get from racking up the body count and wallowing in blood of a morning.

And Walden was an enthusiastic high scorer in this game.

At what had been the head of the column with Bella, he'd sent a number of the enemy to meet their maker. Together he and Bella had brought down those pesky Longbottoms again, his curse taking the wife as Bella dealt with the husband. But then the fighting intensified and he could see their own loses beginning to stack up. Leaving Bella's side, he slipped around, heading for the back of the ranks and a better chance at an exit if it became necessary.

As he turned, he could see an explosion fire out from their side into the enemy's near the east flank. Good enough for him. Best chance for a quick exit would be through there. Weaving amoung the fighters, he took out whomever he could, green light flashing from his wand as he passed. Upon reaching the hole in the enemies defence, he could see the bodies strewn about and the rally their side was making here. No need to flee just yet.

Moving a little further on, he spotted Nott-the-Elder in the thick of things. Given the man and his family had insulted Bella, possibly helped her kinswoman escape, and turned her sister into a traitor, he didn't think she'd mind Walden killing the man while she was otherwise occupied.

A single Killing Curse later, it was done.

Walden was turning to find a new target when the slice of pain seared his upper arm. Glancing down, he could see his own blood running freely from a long gash. But, it wasn't enough to stop him. More, he just laughed and sent a volley of green lights in the direction the attack had come from. Really? That was the best they could do?

Shrugging it off along with the other cuts and bruises he'd already incurred, he turned again only to realise he was too late to stop the stream of orange light coming out of one of the blasted Weasleys' wands. His entire right side on invisible fire, he fell gasping to his knees, wand lost in the scuffle as it fell uselessly from his right hand.

Fuck.

There were so many people dying, killing, Ron remembered this, the adrenaline and the rush of being in the midst of a battle. He was much better trained this time, he knew what he was supposed to do and he actually knew more than a handful of spells to accomplish what they needed to do today, that didn't make any of this easier. He kept an eye out for his family as best he could throughout the course of the battle, doing what he could to help them when he saw any of them in trouble.

Though it was when he saw Walden across the field that Ron started moving toward him with a purpose. The man who had killed Lavender and Mandy, who had caused so much pain all ready, he didn't even pause as he raised his wand to the man sending out a hex that dropped him to his knees, wand slipping from his grasp.

One more hex to put the man under and Ron was moving again, back into the midst of the battle. Ron was if nothing else even more focused now than he had been before and continued making his way across the field. He didn't kill indiscriminately the way other did, incapacitating for the most part, occasionally finding it in himself to kill when absolutely necessary. As easy as it would be to simply kill everyone involved with Voldemort - they would need survivors if only for a short time.

Toward the end of the battle, as things shifted to their side in a very big way Ron was hit with a slashing hex, skin splitting open right over a vein, it was the blood loss that would stop him, not the cut itself, though Ron pressed on as long as he could before he felt too woozy to even see straight let alone feel comfortable enough to send off a hex without the chance it would miss its mark, he stumbled and fell and hoped this wouldn't be the end.
