It had taken him a bit longer to get everything together. People were a little more cautious these days ... but two dark-alley meetings later, Avery was happily armed with some advanced explosives.
Under cover of pre-dawn darkness, Avery made his way around the edges of the village. He'd chosen his targets a bit at random - though he'd always hated that damn tea shop. And really, the witch running Gladrags now was Muggleborn, so ... no loss there should something more than injury befall her.
Crouching in the dewy grass behind Madam Puddifoot's, Avery planted the bomb on the lower left corner of the back wall. He'd been assured the explosive would do some structural damage and spark a fire, but it shouldn't make the building collapse. After setting the timer for 8 AM, Avery roamed over to Gladrags to repeat the procedure.
With the sky starting to lighten in the east, Avery smiled as he shuffled himself back to his home. Now, all he had to do was wait ... and act the part of a concerned resident. He could do that.

Jan popped into Hogsmeade, stifling a yawn as she landed. Oh, she could've had breakfast at the Leaky, sure, but she was in the mood for something a little lighter. Glancing around to get her bearings, she started toward the back of the village. There was that quaint little tea shop with the really brilliant chocolate chip scones ...
She was abruptly startled out of her thoughts by a loud but somehow still muffled WHUMP noise. Jerking her eyes in the direction it had come from, her attention was caught by another further back in the village - in the very direction she'd been heading. She pressed her hand to her mouth and stared for a moment as she watched the smoke plume toward the sky.
She ... should do something. She should tell people. Shaking her head, she slipped out her wand. Pausing for a moment to put her mind in a happier place, she summoned up a couple of messenger patronuses. One hare was sent to inform those at the school. The other was sent off toward the Ministry, though she reasoned by now someone had already Floo'd them to get some Aurors out here for this. Watching the hares lope away, Jan hesitated. What to do?
Doubting much she could be of any help, and not wanting to be in the way, January moved over to the shadow of an abandoned shop, gazing down toward the fire and smoke, and wondering what, exactly, was going on.
