Week 5 - February Summary and March Plot
 Week 5 - Plot Post
estimated timeframe
1 march - 8 march

It's been a fantastic month here at BL. We've gained a great deal of players (and lost a few who we shall miss) and had some terrific interactions. Rachel and I would just like you all to know how proud we are of your characterizations, effort, and willingness to put yourselves out there for this game. We wholeheartedly look forward to the next month, and hope you do too :)

Mod availability;
• Em should be available all week

• Rachel's internet has been disabled for several days now; it is being looked at Sunday but we do not know when it will be back up. We're going to decide on how to deal with apps in the interim.

Mod Goals for March;
• Work on Hogsmeade/Diagon shop descriptions
• Begin advertising
• Set up plot post for players who want to contribute ideas
• Set up a game canon post for literature/musical reference

A note on Game Canon;
As we've mentioned to a few of you before - if you make up an author, singer, store owner, etc. that you would like to be 'officially recognized' as game canon, please comment that information on the appropriate post. One good example is that Raisa decided she'd like Emmeline's boss - the owner of Obscurus - to be named Caius Chiaroscuro; she commented on the Diagon Post. Awesome!

I. Month in Review [2 Feb - 29 Feb]

If you haven't already;
• Update your friends list and AIM list.

A blurred February
February was an exciting month for the wizarding world, starting off with a bang as Hogsmeade was attacked - the Daily Prophet blames the aurors and 'vigilantes' for being utterly useless and making things worse, as per its usual MO.

Despite this propensity for uselessness, aurors begin investigations into the nature of the bombs used in the attack; Rufus's initial suspicions are confirmed as Team Bones unearths information (Amelia in the form of reports and Edgar through careful investigations) - the bombs were of hag design. Edgar goes on the hunt for specifics. Amelia Bones, popular with the common man, receives a tip from a disgruntled citizen, pointing the finger at Rodolphus Lestrange and implicating him in connection with the murdered Hogsmeade magistrate.

As the aurors head off in an investigatory direction, an order meeting is called, where a patrol schedule is instituted for surveillance and the protection of wizarding citizens.

Meanwhile, Death Eaters embark on a campaign of intimidation, forcing store owners in Diagon to refuse service to Muggleborns. Some are successful - others... not so much.

Furious at the post-master's refusal to comply with his demands, Regulus Black - aided by his cousin Evan Rosier - burn postmaster David Nettles's home to the ground. Octavius Pepper and Bertram Aubrey are mistakenly called in to respond to the fire, and eventually the auror department is alerted. Jo Savage to the rescue! There are few leads, but there are a number of people not pleased.

Sparked off by a rather incendiary post by Mrs. Druella Black, Jo Savage and Agnes O'Hare organize a sit-in to protest the treatment of muggleborns in Diagon Alley. Half the damned town shows up, and the Quibbler reports in its usual unbiased manner.

Where there are hags there is news, and Edgar Bones corners and arrests the infamous Garesse Gwythe, hag and bomb-expert. His interrogations reveal disturbing news: The Dark Lord is recruiting more than just wizards. As Garesse spends a comfortable night in Azkaban, Pepper and Fabian overhear an exchange in Knockturn. It seems the aurors weren't the only ones in search of Garesse... but why?

As things take a turn for the interesting in the cops and robbers realm, there are also a great deal of shenanigans transpiring. While Agnes is spending a great deal of time smoking weed and mouthing off to purists, Marlene is making Regulus's life a living hell - for which Regulus and Severus aptly repay her (and Agnes. and Sirius). The victims receive a stern talking to from Frank, who is, apparently, the only person aware of the 'don't take candy from strangers' rule. Chocolate and drugs aren't the only improprieties on the agenda, however, and in the midst of the violence and fear, Rufus and Amelia, Jo and Pepper, Vada and Alastor, Andromeda and Ted, and Pepper and Aubrey show us that love and stupidity can still flourish! <3

The month ends on a sharp note as the Dark Lord assigns Rookwood to investigating the Garesse Gwythe investigation, and Rodolphus Lestrange calls Evan and Regulus to their 'duty'. Finally, a Daily Prophet article about a new bill proposed in the Wizengamot portends that March will be just as controversial as February.

February Activity Check

II. Things that will happen this week

• Saturday; group plot - with Garesse's capture, Evan and Regulus have been assigned to gather explosives for the Death Eaters' next attack. Their inexperience will prove fatal to their mission, and hitwizards and aurors alike will spend Saturday afternoon hot on their trail, ultimately resulting in a battle and the confiscation of a number of Dark armaments. A victory for the ministry at last.

Those of you who will be available on Saturday at ~noon PST please comment below. The goal is to have a mod setup, but for you all to take it and run with it from there.

• Midweek; first installment of Resistance Radio - a programme put together by Agnes O'Hare and Stubby Boardman to report on the 'real' goings on of the war. Those of dark inclination will not be pleased as its originally a public broadcast.

• Endweek; there's some rumbling in Diagon. People are growing afraid and paranoid and rumor has it that a dark attack will be coming any day now. How will the ministry and order respond?

III. Requests for input

• Goals; one major emotional thread we would like to introduce into the game is paranoia. We get a very strong sense from canon that during the first war people were suspicious and nervous and far less friendly. How might we start going about this? Obviously we have murder and attacks - but we are happy to hear suggestions for specific plots you have in mind. Want to offer up your character for some imperiousing action? Comment!

• Feedback; we think we're doing alright in terms of what sort of plot we're offering and to whom - but we need your feedback. Is this enough plot? Too much? Too little? How much input do you want to have on what happens over the month? Are we neglecting certain groups? How would you suggest we work to improve that area of neglect? What's good? What's bad? This is your game - we want to work with you to keep it fun for you.

Again, you guys are rockin', dahlink! ♥ I think a perfect balance has been stricken between mod-offered plot and character-driven plot -- at least in my opinion -- and you two are doing fabulously.

I can be around tomorrow afternoon, yep. I will MAKE SOME TIME, YO, because I am so excited. Even if Regulus will not be a happy camper about this failure business. ~Again~...sheesh, two flukes...crazy...not that there is anything wrong with him. ♥

P.S. As for the Game Canon!authors, did I post them in the right place?

Yes you did! I plan on starting a game canon literature/music post for reference, so I haven't done much with your comment yet. But I know where it is :)

I love Reggie, and I love YOU for being okay with your character's imperfections. It's so exciting to have players like that. :)

Awesome! Just making sure. :D Game Canon ftw!

I'm glad! He's gonna be pretty irked that, APPARENTLY, the postal workers AND the Ministry did not get the memo that he is Perfect and Does Not Make Mistakes Because By the Way He Is the "Good" One and Perfect. I mean, GEE. How did they even miss that? He was so certain it was obvious. ♥ But I'm glad to be playing in an environment where it's OKAY for a character to have faults without worrying about that getting the character shunned by EVERYONE, etc etc. Because I love him desperately, even with his faults, and it's (unsurprisingly) really hard to play a future DE/DE who is faultless. ;) Or anyone that is faultless, but especially a DE. MUCH LOVE TO YOU AS WELL.
